Calling All Gray Kitty Fans!

Gray_Cats_BigCar_1

I know we've got a lot of gray kitty fans in the crowd (like Dan N, for example) so we put together a little gray kitty pack of postcards and they're now listed in the IBKC Shop!

Featured in this set are a floofy Langston Von Tussle, wide-eyed Lucille Plunkett, itty-bitty Hazel Swift,  a very plush Thelma Lyttelton, Fielding Mittenfloss with his corduroy cheeks, and very velvety Forrest and Pearl Mae Petrie!

If gray kitties make you weak, this set is for you!

The postcards are a nicely weighted stock with rounded corners and a lovely satin matte finish. On the back of the card there's a tiny photo of the featured kitten and their name too, so you know who is who. They're sold in a set of six cards (one of each design) and you can purchase them with or without envelopes.

We always offer a little bonus whenever we launch new design, so while supplies last, we'll be giving away a "Kisses the Kitten" postcard with each pack cards that your purchase.

We've also added more Sparkle Balls in the shop! We've restocked our usual color packs, added some Jumbo Packs of Sparkle Balls, and just in time for Saint Patrick's Day, we've listed some green and gold Charlene O'Butterbean Sparkle Balls for Lucky Cats and Kittens. We've got a very limited supply of the St Patty's day packs,  so please act fast if you want to pick some up for your cats!

The Most Popular Posts Part TWO!

#40 Give Us a Big High-Five Hubie!

We've had many happy moments during our years of fundraising, but that first time when we hit the big $20 Squillion goal, well, that was pretty awesome.

#39  Happy Birthday Butterbean!

Another Butterbean birthday made the list! For her 4th, I put together a little Bean retrospective movie. I haven't watched this in a long time, so for me, it was really sweet to go back and look at these pictures from her first four years. Gosh, I love that girl.

#38  A Big Batch of Bean and Friends

More Bean on the list! Here's a collection of some of the sweet moments she's shared with the babies.  The last picture in the post shows Bean with our very first batch of foster kittens. You can see she took to her role as foster mom right away.

This image below just melts me. The kitten in the picture is one of the Mayfields, but I couldn't tell you which one.

Hi Laurie
I'm sending you a few new pictures of Lewis, Reggie, and Forrest. They are a little over a year old and are hilarious with individual personalities. They have been a wonderful additions to our family and our older cat Kaci loves, plays, and chases them.

When we adopted Lewis he was about 3 1/2 lbs now is a huge 16 lbs and gaining he's one of the largest cats we have owned but is as gentle as a lamb, craves food, brushing and being the center of attention.

Reggie comes in at a close 13 lbs loves chasing butterflies, Forrest, or just sitting on the window ledge sunning himself. His favorite pastime is keep me company on my desk or under my chair when I'm checking emails.

Forrest is the smallest, fastest, and most loving. His favorite place is around the back of my neck like a travel pillow and he will actually fall asleep. He gets along with everyone but is still shy at first.

We built a fence around our 2 acres this summer and all the boys were able to start going outside for supervised time in the fresh air and they help keep the rodent population down. They love really just sitting on the porches watching birds and dragonflies, or helping us garden by sitting in the middle of plants.

So just wanted to say hi and tell you everyone is happy and healthy. It seems like just yesterday that we adopted them from you so just wanted to thank you again for all the time you spent with them and other babies that have been adopted.

Stacey

Thank you so much for the update, Stacey!  The boys look great and we're thrilled they're doing so well!   Please give them some love from all of us!

Brothers Gotta Stick Together

Last summer,  Stacy and Mark lost their sweet tuxedo cat, Kevin.  At less than a year old, cancer took this little fellow's life.    As you can imagine, it was hard very on the humans in the household, as well as Kaci, their tabby girl.    After all they went through,  they thought it might be best to remain a one-cat household.  This was fine at first, but  Kaci started to show signs of  loneliness and depression.

After a chat with the vet, Stacy and Mark decided it might be time to bring a playmate (or even two) into their home for Kaci.

Stacy sent me a very nice, long letter telling me all about the life they lived and the cats they've loved.   They sounded like wonderful people,  so we were excited to have them meet the kittens.

The day they visited, the kittens had just been sprung from quarantine.   The Petires weren't quite used to the bigger world, so they spent a fair amount of time under the couch.  With a little encouragement (a feather wand) we did manage to fish them out, so they could meet Stacy and Mark.

We had a lovely visit, but they hadn't made up their minds by the time the meeting was over, so I gave them the weekend to think about it.

Stacy called the next day to say they would love to adopt Aloysius and Sir Reginald.  We were thrilled they decided to take a pair!

A couple of weeks passed, the kittens all had surgery, and they were ready to leave our nest.   I emailed Stacy to arrange a time for the adoption and we made a date.

THEN she asked if Forrest had been spoken for.  They had been toying with the idea of adopting him too.

I told her that no one had stepped forward yet, but all of our kittens always find great homes, so I wasn't too worried.  Of course I would love to see the three boys go together,  but I would never pressure anyone to adopt three kittens at once.

So, Friday evening Stacy and Mark came to pick up the kittens.

And they brought an extra carrier JUST in case.

Good thing they did, because they needed it.

Yep.

The three Petrie boys all got adopted together.

Hooray!

Thank you, Stacy and Mark.  You made three kitties very happy.   And this human too.

Please Take Note

Please take note of the position of Forrest Petrie's tail.

That little boy is incredibly cute, but the tail pushes it over the top.

Deep, Dark Forrest

The name "Forrest" has been on my list for quite some time.  It's one of my favorite names, and I was just waiting for a special kitten to come along that the name seemed to fit.

Well, finally he arrived.

Dark in color, deep in thought, here's Forrest Petrie.

DSC_0208

In his early scaredy-cat days, he earned the nickname "Petrified Forrest".

Thankfully, he's past all that now.    He worked through his trust issues,  was the very first of the batch to purr, and has turned out to be quite a little lover.
