It's March, Where are They?

This morning I woke up thinking that we should be seeing kittens any day now.  January and February are always the quietest months, but in March it seems that things start picking up. I went into the blog archives to see if we were holding kittens on March 17th of the previous years,  and discovered that more years than not, we did.

March 17th 2015:
No kittens, just the big cats! But we were still sidelined after the ringworm incident that fall, so even if there were kittens at the shelter, we couldn't have them.

But we had this silly thing to keep us entertained that DAY.

No kittens on March 17th of 2014, but we had an update on Opal the Kitten (not Opal the Human). We were still taking a break because of Filbert's virus at this time, so no kittens for us.

On March 17th of 2013, we had Wylla and Audrey, and they were tiny.  We were in the thick of it with Wylla, and trying to get to the bottom of her health issues. She had just returned from spending a few days in Vet Treatment where she got poked, prodded, and tested for everything. It was a hard time for her. And it was hard for us too -- so much worry.

On March 17 of 2012, the Knapps had JUST arrived the day before and we got to meet little Wylie.

Gosh, that nose. Just look at that nose.

On March 17th of 2011, we had the seriously cute Medley family in our care. Egads!

No kittens on March 17th in 2010, and Bean was BORED.  The Spooners had just left the week before, and the Lytteltons would move in one week later.

On March 17th of 2009, we had the Ashbys.  Milton, who was the biggest, was getting close to making weight!

On March 17th of 2008, we were midway through the Mayfield litter. Here's pensive little Porter.

This give me hope, folks. Historically, we usually have kittens in March, so hopefully we'll be seeing them SOON!

If You Guessed Porter,,,, You Were Correct

And just in case you forgot what the boy looked like before... here he is as a tiny tot.
Porter Washington Mayfield

I do believe The Mayfields celebrated their first birthday a few weeks back. It's hard to believe they could be so old now!

Thank you Mama Sarah for sending the pictures along with an update. Here's what she had to say...

Clementine is still so crazy!!!! She loves jumping up on things and knocking things down :) She is not too cuddly still, but we know she loves us and we love her! Her fur is still very short and beautiful. She takes very good care of herself! I imagine her to be quite girly if she were a human :)

Porter is still a lover! He is such a lap kitty and licker and cry-er. He is way mellow compared to Clementine! She is often the one that gets him all "crazied" up. He has very long hair now! And the fur on his tail is very bushy!!! It took him a while to figure out how important it was to clean his long fur--especially around his bottom area. But Clementine was sweet enough to help him out while he was learning :) People don't believe us when we tell them that they are brother and sister because they look so different.

We just love these little babies!

No kittens yet! We're still waiting. We're at the top of the list though, so the second the kittens arrive at the HS,, I'll hop in the car and snatch them up. Their quarters are prepared and we are so ready to receive them. We've got Shana keeping her eyes peeled for any new arrivals and hopefully our number is on her speed dial.

Hang in there folks. They will be here soon enough.

Updates! We've got Updates!!!

YES! I know you've all been anxious for updates on our IBKC graduates, The Mayfields, and today I have pictures of ALL of them ! We'll start with this gorgeous photo of Fergus. (You can tell his mom is a professional photographer.) I love how tall and lanky he's looking, even while wearing horizontal stripes!

Here we have dear, sweet Auggie and LeRoy ( now known as Howie and Baker). It sounds like they are happy and comfortable in their new home and getting lots of love.

And finally, Porter and Clementine. He's still a cry baby,, she's still a wild child,, and they are both still adorable. Here's a blurb from an email from their mom.
oh mannnn!! Porter is just a cry-er!!! cries before we feed him, while we are trying to get his food to him, after eating, while we are eating, if he is left behind in a room alone, as soon as we walk in the door :) He is wonderful though, very loving!!!

Clementine is nuts!!!!!!!! jumps on everything, pounces everything (especially Porter), bites anything she can get in her mouth, broke our blinds, 3 light bulbs in one of our lamps... but she is very sweet when she is ready to nap!

We are loving them and very happy to have them in our lives!

Porter Takes On Charlene's Tail

I discovered a bunch Mayfield videos on my old digital camera the other day. Although the quality isn't the best, it was fun to see the the Mayfields in motion again. Here's a little clip of tiny little Porter taking on Charlene's gigantic tail. I love how Charlene wiggles it in front of him, then looks away and waits for him to pounce. What a tease !

Even though these aren't the greatest photos, I thought the moment was too sweet not to share.

More on Mama Cat Beulah and her babes later...

On behalf of all the Mayfields, Porter and Clementine wanted to say thank for loving them all so much. They know they are the luckiest kitties in the world, being loved by so many. They promise to ecourage their parents to take lots of pictures and keep us all updated on their new lives.

So long from the Mayfields. They will never forget you.

And the Winner is...

The polls are are closed, the results are in... and eighty two percent of the voters guessed wrong. The eighteen percent you who voted for Clementine, please pat yourselves on your back. You are correct!
Clem

YES! Porter and Clemetine are getting adopted together. Isn't that wonderful? We prefer sending them out in pairs whenever we can, so of course we were thrilled they are going together. Clementine has made weight and will be going in for surgery next week. Porter still isn't there, but we have been trying hard to fatten up the little Porkchop. Pack on those pounds, I mean ounces, Porter! Grow kitten, Grow!
