Sit Still AND Stay Awake? Am I Asking Too much of These Kittens?

Not the most successful group shots,,,, but I thought there was still some entertainment value here, so I wanted to post them.

Like I've said before,, getting the kittens to gather is only half the battle. Getting their attention, and keeping them awake, is the hard part.

And while I have YOUR attention,  I would like to announce ANOTHER matching donation challenge from our dear friend, Cynthia!

She will be matching all of our donations, until they reach $1000. So for every dollar we donate, she'll be donating a dollar too!!

Here's a chance to double your dollars and help turn ONE squillion into TWO squillion!!  And once we do that, we'll be pretty dang close to $35 squillion!

This is the fifth of our matching donation challenges.  Last time we came really close NOT to making it.  Thanks to some well timed checks in the mail, they put us over the top in the final minutes, and turned our 1 squillion into two.    Whew. It was a nail-biter.

The challenge ends at 3:00 Pacific Time,  today.   Let's rock it, friends.

Click HERE to double your donation dollars.

Thank you , Cynthia!!   Thank you,  EVERYONE!

The Tail End

DSC_0849

Well, Dog-A-Thon is getting REALLY close now.   We've just five day until the walk, and the end of our fundraiser.

To those out there who have been thinking about making a donation, now is the time, because we're running out of time!

For many, these little kitties we foster are a part of your daily life.    I know you care about and love these kitties, just like we do.     A donation of any amount  helps our kitties, and all the other cats and kittens at the shelter too.

When we pool our donations  we can feed, vaccinate, microchip, shelter,  and provide medical care for SO MANY cats and kittens and help them find their way to their forever families.

It feels pretty good to be part of the process.

Please click HERE to make a donation, and help us help cats and kittens.

For those of you who would like to help, but aren't in a position to make a donation, you can help just by spreading the word.   Please email, blog,  link, Tweet and Facebook about our fundraiser if you can.  Here's an image to download if you would like to share it with your friends and followers.

Thanks so much.   We all appreciate your generosity, love and support of this amazing community.

OK...
I've got lots to share with you today,,, including some grown up pics of some of our little kittens, so please check back often.

All the Lovely Ladies...

DSC_0933

From left to right:
Biscuit, Marie-Noire,  Betty June, Ve Ching and Camille Suprenant

As you can see, the girls are growing fast! REALLY fast, actually.   Like, record breaking fast.     Three out of five have just hit the two pound mark, the others are getting close.     It really doesn't seem possible because they've only been with us for just a little over two weeks.    They're just healthy and thriving, and nothing is slowing them down.

I had a meet and greet earlier in the week, and two of the girls have found a home.  YAY!  That leaves three to place.   We would like to get them out the door as early as we can.  Not that I want to say goodbye to these fabulous girls, but because kittens aren't kittens for long, and we like our adopters to have as many kitteny days as possible.  Also, the sooner these ladies leave, the sooner we can bring in another batch and free up space at the shelter.   It is CROWDED there right now.

Shoot an email to kittywrangler@gmail.com if you're in the Seattle/Tacoma area and  might be able to offer a wonderful home to a lovely lady (or two).    Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

And don't forget folks,  for every $1000 we raise today, I'll be raffling off the naming rights to one lucky donor.  See the post below for full details.

Now Everyone has a Name!

Christina, who follows the IBKC all the way from Singapore, was the lucky winning bidder for both of our lovely floofy tabby girls.

She's a huge lover of cats, and over the years has been heavily involved with the Cat Welfare Society in Singapore.

Christina wanted to honor two very special cats from her life who have passed on, by naming the floofy tabbies after them.    Here's a little bit from Christina's email explaining who these kitties were, and what they meant to her.

My love affair with cats started in 2000 with 2 kitties  which I named Tigger and Biscuit. They had been found at a construction site and were flea ridden, with ears chock full of mites and suffering from anemia and diarrhea when I got them. The vet said that they would probably not survive, but my husband and I thought we would give it a go nonetheless. Despite 24-hour care, Biscuit died 10 days later and it broke my heart.  The good news is that Tigger survived his rough start and is still with me. He's now a big floofy cat

Here's are tiny Tigger (left) and Biscuit (right).  06-26-03-cropped

In honor of Biscuit, our floofly little tabby with the bright white eye liner and gloves, will be named Biscuit (you can call her "Bikky" too).      She likes to lay on her back and make "air biscuits" when you rub her tummy, so it suits her perfectly!

Christina continues to write....

My 3rd kittie, Ve Ching, has also passed on.  He was found at a playground and given to me at around 6 weeks. At 7 years old, he died from pancreatitis. He was the most loving and playful cat and is greatly missed. As such, I would like to name the other kitten Ve Ching.

Here's beautiful Ve Ching....

And here's our beautiful Tabby, who is now officially named Ve Ching.

Thanks, Christina, for caring so much for kitties, and giving so much to an organization so far from home (but still close to your heart).      Christina's touching story of saving, loving, and losing, is something that many of us have experienced.

Sometimes lives that are briefest, touch us deepest.  I love that the spirit of Biscuit and Ve Ching will live on in our floofy tabby girls.  And I love that their names will always remind me of how large and loving this community is.

Thank you again, Christina.

Day of Rest

I'm just going to post a quick pic and run. I've got kitten names to share, but that's just going to have to wait until Monday. It's been a very long and exhausting week, and I'm feeling more like resting than writing. Thanks for understanding. Have a good Sunday.

Another One Named!

Nanette was the lucky bidder who won the floofy gal's auction, and now another Suprenant Sister has been named!

DSC_0829

I know you're all dying to know what it is.  I thought first I would share with you Nanette's kitten-naming thought process.  Here's a bit from her email.

1.)    Her surname, if I am not mistaken, is French, probably by way of Canada.
2.)    A pic with one of her sisters leads me to believe she possesses a bit of Gallic cattitude.
3.)    She has a classically lovely coat; luxuriant, yet subtle in its color complexity.  She is the Chanel of kittehs.
4.)    She cries out for an elegantly hyphenated Francophile name.

Therefore, I propose that we call La Petite Mademoiselle..........

MARIE-NOIRE SUPRENANT

And so she is....

Nice work, Nanette.  I appreciate all the thought you put into assigning this floofy gal the PERFECT name.    It suits her so well!

By the way, Nanette is a repeat customer!  She was the one responsible for naming Luigi Fortunato in last year's fundraiser.    And  Eleanor, who named  Betty June, was also responsible for naming Dominick Fortunato last year!     Thanks to you both for your generosity!!

Tune in tomorrow when we reveal the lovely little lynx-point's name....

Twenty Squillion AND BEYOND!!

DSC_0952

Well,  with that matching donation challenge, and all the generous bids, we just BLEW past 20 Squillion, which means we're half the way to our goal!   Thank you Cynthia for offering up the challenge, and thank you everyone who took her up on the challenge.

There's  lots of  whoo-hoo-in' going on around here!   I'm not sure if the girls know what's up, but just about the time we crossed the over the 50% there mark, the girls all got up from their nap and started getting rowdy.    They must of felt the excitement.

I'm going to go do a little math, and when I'm done, I'll let you know how much we raised for the Foster Program.     I think we did PRETY dang well!

Thanks so much for caring so much, and giving so much to our little campaign.

With love and thanks from the IBKC and ALL the foster cats and kittens that will benefit from your generosity.

That's right, just like last Friday,, our dear friend, Cynthia, will be matching all of our donations, until they reach $1000. So for every dollar we donate, she'll be donating a dollar too!!

Here's a chance to double your dollars and help turn ONE squillion into TWO squillion!! The challenge runs until Noon Pacific Time, so that gives us 4 and a half hours to make it happen. I know we can do it. With our first challenge, we did it in just about an hour!

And don't forget all the money we raise this morning, goes right to the Foster Program Fund. To find out more about how the money helps fostered kittens and big kitties too, please click HERE and read this post from yesterday.

Thank you, Cynthia! Thanks so much EVERYONE for caring and giving so much. Our money pooled together will do some incredible things for cats and kittens!

OK, let's put those kittens to work and double that squillion!!!

What an exciting day this will be! We'll be reaching 20 squillion shortly! We've got two naming rights auctions ending soon, and hopefully we'll find out the names of two more Suprenant Sisters too.
