Rosalie and Renatta!!!!

Miss Rosalie Pettibone

DSC_0685

The Pettibones were a diverse and lovely set. There were six total: Two buff Tabbies, a Flame Point, a Seal Point, a Torite and a Dilute Tortie. Though their colors were varied, the one thing they shared in common was their tender, loving ways. We’ve had some very dear babies, but honestly, I don’t think I can recall a set that was as sweet from the start as this crew was.

We’ve stayed connected all of their adopters over the years, and it’s always nice to hear what these kittens are up to. Here’s the report from Matt, Rosalie and Renatta’s dad.

Rosalie and Renatta Pettibone are now 8! They are sisters to 3 dogs. Two are just about the same size as they are. The third-Porter- is MUCH bigger! They both show interest in him, but do it quite differently.

Rosalie was so "puppy-like" she earned a lifetime nickname. We call her "Rover-Lee".  She likes Porter, but only if he is lying still. She will sneak a sniff of his paws and tickle his ears with her whiskers. It's enough brother-sister bonding for her! I guess she only wants to "play puppy" with people.

Renatta goes so far as to nuzzle Porter. They are pals, but between you and me, it's a lot more important to Porter. Renatta knows how I prize family harmony so she puts up with more "love" than she really prefers.

Rosalie was loving from the very first moment. In fact, I wasn't planning to adopt her at all. She just purred and ambled toward me. "I guess you are here for me" was the look she gave me! So she came with Renatta, who I loved BEFORE I even saw her in person. I just saw her photo and that was the feline for me.

Renatta was devoted to me but not all that friendly to other people. That started to change a few years ago. Her sister often loved on her, acting like a mama with a kitten. This must have touched her Siamese heart. Slowly she started interacting with my housemate Kenny. Now she joins him in his room, often "kneading" him gently and napping with him. He has been battling a lot of health issues and this is a real comfort to him.

As far as tricks go, they are content to let the dogs handle those duties.

Here's one of their puppy siblings,  Porter!

Thanks so much for the update, Matt! The girls are such beauties, and I love that they’re able to live harmoniously with all your pups! How special they (still) are!!

PS.. I know we had some issues with yesterday's videos.  I'll figure out a way to make those work as soon as I can. I'm on the road with limited access to the internet right now!  Sorry!!!

A little R and R!

The Pettibones came to us during our very first year of fostering.   Still to this day, they're one of the sweetest sets we've ever met!

Matt, dad to Rosalie and Renatta Pettibone, sent in a great update on the girls. First, let's take a look at the girls when they were just tiny little things.

Here's baby  Renatta!

Here's the whole Pettibone family, and one of my favorite IBKC moments.

The sisters are in good health and still very playful. They have been a great joy in my life and along the way have helped keep various dogs in line. Recently our Pomeranian Francesca passed away. During the grieving "Roverlee"- our nickname for Rosalie has been double loving us to help get us through. Renatta is fond of our pit-bull. She routinely inspects his ears and sniffs the soles of his paws to get a whiff of the great outdoors. I can't imagine life without them.

Thanks so much for this, Matt! The girls are gorgeous and we're happy to know they bring you so much joy!  We're sorry to hear of the passing of your pup. We're glad Rosalie offered you comfort - kitties can be so good at that.   Please give the girls some love from all of us.

We've got more Pettibones coming your way today, so do stay tuned!  Also,  we've got our $2500 match on the table than runs until 3:00 PM (pacific time).  $1839 left to match!  To make a tax-deductible donation and have your dollars doubled, please visit our Firstgiving page!

Thank you, friends!  We are getting so close!

The Goodbye Girls

Sigh. We're a tad blue around here this morning. Last night Rosalie and Renatta were picked up by their new parents. It's always hard to say goodbye to the kittens, but with this litter, it's especially difficult. I've said it before, but there is just something really special about this litter. They are just the warmest, lovey-doviest kittens I've ever met. Every single one of them.

I'm so thrilled that Rosalie and Renatta will be staying together. They are moving in a with fabulous set of parents and will have Phyllis, from the Original Six Pack of Cats, as their big sister.

I can promise you that we'll be getting lots of updates and pictures of the girls.

Before their parents arrived last night, Rosalie, Renatta and their siblings all were winding down and hanging out in their bedroom. I love it when they're in this state: kind of sleepy and extra lovely. I managed to get a few last pictures of all of them before we said goodbye. I took most of these pictures shooting into the mirror so the images are of their reflections. I don't think they really knew they were being photographed. Not that they ham it up for the camera, but they seem a little more relaxed for these shots.

So who's next? Well, Carmine and Agnes are scheduled to depart on Friday. Oh geeze, that's tomorrow. I'm not ready, people.

Didn't these kittens just get here?

Sigh.

It's Rosalie Pettibone! She moved into our house last night and she brought a few friends. In time, you will meet them as well.
