Cecil Knapp!

IBKC Alumni week continues, and the first old friend we're saying hello to today is Mr Cecil Knapp!

Here's the precious lad in his very early days with us.

And here he is today!   SO HANDSOME, isn't he??!!!

Here's what Susan, his mama, had to say about the boy...

As you can see, Cecil has grown quite the mane along with lots of furry hair. He reminds us a bit of a lion although he's more the cowardly lion than the brave one. He would like you to think he could take on anything or anyone, but the sight of the vacuum cleaner sends him under the nearest bed. He is obsessed with my yarn and knitting needles and, although I use quiet, wooden needles, he can hear them a mile away and comes running. He can chew a piece of yarn in half faster than he can eat a kitty snack. Consequently, my production has gone down immensely and I've become a closet knitter!

He and Tuna do their fair share of chasing and rolling around but it's all in the spirit of play. They are never far from each other and despite the fact that we have kitty beds everywhere, they spend their days napping together in the same chair. Cecil is a gem. He's gentle (once he learned how to control his claws!), cuddly, very busy and pretty much in charge of the house. Thank you for raising such lovely kittens. They are lucky to have you and we are all lucky to benefit from your kindness and great training.

Thank you so much for sharing with us today, Susan!  And thank you for the kind words.  We're so happy he's with you!

It's been fun seeing all these IBKs again, hasn't it?  I'm hoping that by seeing all of their "happily ever afters", you might feel inspired to give to the shelter that put them on the road towards their forever homes.  By donating, we are providing the Humane Society with the resources to help more cats in more ways.

Thank you!

So Long, Cecil.

DSC_0229

Yesterday afternoon we said goodbye to our little pal Cecil.   He found himself the perfect home with Susan,  a serious lover of orange kittens, her husband, and Tuna, a six-year old girl kitty.

Tuna lost her orange brother last fall, and since his passing, she and the family have been missing him dearly.  They wanted another orange kitty to join their family,  and as soon as Susan saw Cecil on the blog, she gave us a call, and we arranged a meeting.

Cecil is a very easy-going boy.  He's very social and sweet and I think he'll merge nicely into their home.     He's always had such huge crush on Charlene too, so I'm sure he'll love keeping company with another lady cat.

I know he'll be so happy there.

Here are a few images from our last few minutes with sweet Cecil.

Thank you so much for adopting this special little guy, Susan.
And thank you for the lovely daffodils.   Every time I look at them,  I'll think of Cecil's gold medal and his happy future ahead.

Knapp Vs Knapp

Here's a little pre-surgery day scrimmage between the Knapp boys.  I can't quite decide how to call the match. Wiley seemed to dominate most of it, but he just up and quit at the end.  So I guess Cecil is the winner?

I'll let you be the judge.

Fabulous Knapps

I know you're not going to like to hear this news, but today our dear little Knapps will be off at the vet getting their itty bitty bits fixed.    This, of course,  means they'll be departing soon.

I know.  It's gone so fast.  Really fast.   Faster than any litter of the past, in fact.

They didn't have too much growing to do when they arrived, and they were healthy and social,  so their stay with us is  a brief one.  I know you're all quite attached to this batch so it's going to be hard for all of us to say goodbye.

Every single moment has been golden, and it has been such a pleasure spending time with this special bunch.  Every second they've been here, I've felt loved by them.   They are awesome that way.

They're not out the door yet, so let's enjoy them while we can.    It's so easy to do.   They are fabulous.

Kitten Conversations

These Knapps have a lot to say! Turn up the volume and listen to them chirp and squeak (and purr)!!

You're Almost There, Cecil.

Just stretch a LITTLE more, and you'll get Bean's tail.

Come on.  You're almost there.

Just a little bit more... keep trying.

Mixing and Mingling

Today is day fourteen, so the quarantine period has officially ended and Charlene got to FINALLY meet the Knapps!   I had my camera poised and ready to go, but sadly just 12 seconds in, the battery died.   I did manage to catch Charlene's first glance and if you turn up your volume, you can hear her coo a little hello.  It's pretty dang sweet.

After their greeting, the Knapps began bouncing around the room and Charlene moved to higher ground to perch on the back of her favorite chair.    Cecil ventured up there to spend a little one-on-one time with Bean.

Wiley Knapp Likes to Leap

DSC_0192

There are three things that Wiley Knapp is very good at.
1. Being cute.
2. Being charming.
3. Leaping.

And they like to try leaping, too.

But no one can get it off the ground like Wiley Knapp.

He can also put his tongue inside his nose.
