Let's Hear it for the Boys!

I can hardly believe this, but next week we'll be celebrating our 10th Blogiversary!  I've got lots of fun stuff planned, and I wanted to include a bunch of alumni updates all week long.  SO, to all you parents of Itty Bitty Kitties, please send some photos and an update HERE by Sunday, August 13th.  We're all curious to see your grown-up babies and hear all about what they're up to!

I'm happy to report that Joseph and Henry have found their family!!!  I'm so thrilled these two will be moving on together  --  I'm sure they are, too!   Their new parents have a busy week ahead so they'll be waiting until this weekend to bring them home. We're happy, of course, to have a few more days with this duo. Wylla LOVES having two little buddies to run with, and now that they're getting bigger, she doesn't have to play so gently, so it makes much more fun for her.

Congrats, boys! We're so excited for your future.  And now that everyone has their place,  we'll start telling the adoption tales tomorrow!

Joseph Has Something to Say

It is much, much quieter than it was just a few days ago --- our Alexanders started trickling out the door. But before we started saying our goodbyes, I got a few photos of the whole gang hanging out in the guest room.  Goodness, they are adorable, aren't they?  They are such sweet and loving creatures --- I'm so grateful for the time we've had getting to know them.

I'm trying to write this post and he keeps tap dancing on my keyboard!   /'/'///////////////////;;/;////;kkll;              

So, yes, Joseph and Henry are still with us but things are looking good. I never share suiter or adoption details until all deals are sealed, so that's all I've got on that topic today.  ][[[[[[;][[[[[[][;;;;;;;;]ll]]l]ll]llllllllll
I will reveal more when I can, although Joseph may have just let a few secrets slip if there are any of you who can crack the kitten code!

Are These Two for You?

Three of our Alexanders have found their families, but we're still looking for a home for Henry and Joseph.  They've been good buddies from the start, so I feel I owe it to them to try to place them in their forever home together.

Both boys are sweet and loving creatures. They're social, confident and outgoing.

Henry is the wilder of the pair and will keep you entertained with his spirited leaps and pounces. He loves chasing things --- he's particularly fond of mylar balls.  His giant polydactyl paws are amazing to watch in action.

When he gets sleepy, he gets very lovey, and he'll purr and rub his face against you while he circles in search of the perfect spot to curl up and nap.

Joseph is spunky and full of life. Though he's much smaller than Henry, he often wins their wrestling matches because of his scrappy style, surprise attacks, and determination.  He's very generous with his purrs and affection and LOVES snuggling with humans. I think he's destined to become a great lap cat one day.

These kittens are being fostered for the Tacoma Humane Society,  so we follow all of their adoption policies and rules. They're neutered, microchipped and vaccinated (though they'll need another round of boosters to complete the series).  j

The Sweetest Thing I've Seen

Oh, my.  It's been a hot week 'round here! We're all hiding in the coolest spots of the house, but they're not so cool anymore. These old houses weren't designed for extreme temperatures so during the hot streaks it gets pretty uncomfortable. Also, we're getting lots of smoke from the wildfires that are happening up in BC, so on the really hazy days, we can't blow the cool night air in. The humans and cats are getting a little grumpy and are looking forward to cooler, clearer days.

 All the cats and kittens did their afternoon lounging and napping in the guest room yesterday, which is the coolest spot in the house,  and dear little Joseph Pawtucket Alexander was the lucky recipient of a Bean AND Wylla bath.  Check out TEAM GROOM! In all these years of fostering, this might just be the sweetest thing I've seen. My sweet girls make me so proud.

An Alexander Family Portrait --- WITH BEAN!

We're having a pretty warm week around here.  Our guest room is usually blocked off for the kittens, but because it's one of the cooler spots in the house,  we've had the door open and are allowing them to enter this space.

All the cats, big and small, have been congregating in the room and yesterday I was so happy to capture an Alexander family portrait with their mentor, Bean.  I've attempted similar shots many times over the years without success. It's challenging to get a large litter of kittens settled in for a picture, and adding a big cat in the mix is next to impossible.  Thankfully, it worked yesterday!  





Notice anything different about the kittens? See a couple of shaved bellies? Yep. They went in this week and everyone got snipped.  Someone always asks about why boys have shaved bellies -- our shelter does a spay/neuter tattoo on the belly of every altered kitten, so all of our babies return from surgery day with a bald little tummy.

So, yes. Our Alexander chapter will be closing soon!  It's a good thing - these kittens are ripe.

She's Too Cool

This time of year around 3:00 or so you'll find some pretty good sunlight patches in our kitchen. This makes it a popular spot for all cats big and small.

Three Alexander boys were sunning themselves on the mat in front of the sink when Wylla stopped by to give them a little hello sniff.





Lloyd, who is particularly fond of Wylla perked right up when she came over.



 But then she left.

"Wait! Wait! Where you going, Wylla?"





Look at his expressive tail!



And look at how coy Wylla is playing it.




Oh, Wylla. Stop playing it cool.  That boy has a crush on you!

Almost Too Big for the Bed

Squish together, kittens! You're starting to spill over the edges! Hang on with those mitts!

Yes, these Alexanders of ours are getting big and it won't be too much longer before they're ready for the ole snippity-snip.  We don't have places for all of them yet, so if you're looking for a kitten love (or a pair of kitten loves) send me an email, introduce yourself, and tell me about the life you would offer an Alexander (or two). The Alexanders Upstairs

Um, hey, you guys. You know you're not supposed to be up there, right? Upstairs is for big cats only.

BUT, you're looking pretty cute doing what you're not supposed to be doing, so sit tight while I go get the camera.
