A Maeve and Delphine Kibblesmith Update!

Delphine and Maeve's adoption tale landed on our top ten moments of our 2014 list, so I'm really excited to be able share an update on the girls with you today.

Ashraf, their proud papa, sent me a lovely batch of photos of the girls.  Before we look at those, let's take a peek at the girls when they were tiny.

Such lovely creatures they were.

And still are!

Ashraf says that everyone is doing great, the girls are growing fast, and their personalities are really shining now. Maeve is the more outgoing of the pair, which came as no surprise. She was like that from the start.

Thank you so much for sharing these images, Ashraf!  It's so good to see these two sweet faces again, and nice to know that all is well.

So Happy Together

DSC_1039

I yelled "JACKPOT" when I finished reading the lovely letter of introduction that Ashraf sent.  Delphine and Maeve were napping on my feet, and the commotion made them stir and stretch.

"Girls! We found your dad," I exclaimed.

They both stared at me for a moment with squinty eyes, trying to decide if they should fully wake or not, then curled back up into balls and fell asleep.   You would think such news would excite them more, but their response seemed to say "of course, we've been expecting his call."

Ashraf was looking for a pair of bonded kittens, his FIRST kittens ever, and he was ready to devote his life to their care.  In his note he described his home, lifestyle and schedule in great detail and shared a lot about himself.  He sounded like a kind, caring and responsible young man, and I picked up the phone and gave him a call.

We had a great chat, and an hour later, he came for a visit. This meeting was really just a formality, I think we all knew these kittens were his well before he arrived.

He adored the girls instantly, and was impressed by their beauty and sweetness.  They were delights that night, and we all enjoyed watching the kittens cuddle together, wake from their naps, then bounce around the living room. After a wonderful visit,  we set a plan for their pick-up,  and said goodbye to a very happy Ashraf.

The next day, I sent him a list of all the essential items he would need for the girls, and in his return email, he confessed that he had been spending a great deal of time looking at pictures of his kittens on the blog.  He was so excited to be bringing them home.

Delphine and Maeve really are the perfect "starter set" for a new kitten dad.  They're so social and dear, so hearty and healthy.  I know they'll do so great in their devoted dad's gentle hands.

Just look at them together on adoption day.

I shared these photos on Facebook the other day, and my friend Anne said "they hit the gentle jackpot".

It's true, they did.

I'm so grateful these special kittens found such an awesome dad.  We wish you much happiness Ashraf, Delphine and Maeve, and a long life together.

Crazy, Calm.

It's funny, but as kittens leave our nest,  we always see the personalities of the remaining kittens start to shift.   Since Sweet Evie left, things have definitely calmed down.  I thought it was just because we went from three crazy kittens to two crazy kittens, but as it turns out, she was was wild one who riled up the other two.  There's still plenty of kitten energy and rowdiness happening, but there are fewer heated wrestling matches and less swinging from the chandeliers (although Maeve and Delphine did manage to take down a floor lamp).

Of course, it wasn't all wild times when Evie was around.  There was plenty of sweet and quiet moments too.  Like this one.

Are These Two for You?

DSC_1144

Well, it's time, friends.   These Kibblesmiths are ready to leave our nest.  I know, it doesn't seem possible that it's time for good-byes, but it is.

Sweet Evie has her home all lined up, but I'm still looking for an awesome place for Delphine and Maeve.

We've had lots of requests for single kittens, but I'm really hoping to send these two cuties out as a set, so we're still on the hunt for their.   I know they would prefer to stay together, so I'm going to do my best to honor that.

These two are dear things.  Both are social and outgoing and as you can see, completely adorable.  Maeve's favorite hobbies include purring and making air biscuits. She has adorable belly spots and the cutest row of freckles at the base of her whiskers.   Delphine is a super snuggler and very affectionate.  She's mastering the game of fetch, and will return with the tossed toy about 80% of the time.   Her bright blue eyes are enchanting.   Both are charming, and I guarantee they're going to make some kitty-loving person (or family) very happy.

If you're an awesome human in the Seattle/Tacoma area in search of a pair of kittens, please send us an email and tell us a little bit about yourself and the kind of home you could offer this lovely pair of girls. Or, if you know of someone who's looking, please send them our way!

Come Over and Play, Kibblesmiths

A few days ago I pulled out the cardboard houses and put them in the center of the living room.

Wylla loves to hide inside the houses and wait for an unsuspecting Kibblesmith to walk by so she  can give them a BOOP with her paw, or pounce at them through a window or door.

If they come knocking on the door,  she'll let them in, but usually there's a slap fight or a wrestling match on the doorstep first.

They've figured out all sort of games to play in the houses, and seem to really enjoy themselves.  It's highly entertaining to watch them, too!

Sid and the Kittens

This is Sidney.  He belongs to my cousin Wendy and her husband, Jeremy, and they all came out for a visit this past week. Before their visit, Wendy showed Sid the videos and pictures of the Kibblesmiths  on the fundraising set, and he was very excited to meet them and hopefully answer the phones.

This was the first time the kittens had spent time with a little human, and at first they darted under the couch and tables to escape his enthusiasm.

But by the time the visit was coming  to an end, a very quiet and still Sid got to spend some time with the babies.

And it was precious.   And he was thrilled.

More Maeve!

I know I just posted a big bunch of Maeve pics, but I know you wouldn't want to go another second of your life without seeing this extreme cuteness on the couch.

OH, Maeve.

Let's all take a moment to marvel at Maeve and all her adorableness.

And her perfect, pouty kitten month.
