Ramón/Romana Clover and Ernest Plunkett Update!

Bernadette was a repeat customer. She adopted Ramon (previously known as Ramona and currently known as Hugo) first, then six months later, adopted his buddy/brother Ernest (now Walter).  She sent us a sweet update for us today:



Hugo (Ramon), now 2.5 years old, is the cuddly lap cat that I've always wanted! Whether on the couch or at bedtime, I can always count on Hugo for snuggle time. He also likes to help me pick out my outfit each morning and insists that I pick him up when standing in front of my closet when deciding what to wear for the day.

Walter (Ernest), soon to be 2 years old, is my elusive runner. He likes to cuddle with us, but only after we've showered. He tries to escape to the outside world by darting out the door when we come home and then only goes so far before immediately turning around and running back into the house towards safety. He still really loves his orange pom pom balls from his IBKC days and we find them in the water or food dish. When Walter does decide to let us hold him, he is a purring machine complete with plenty of air biscuits!

Getting a second kitten to keep Hugo company was one of the best decisions I have made! Hugo and Walter play together, snuggle together, and groom each other. They look and act like brothers and get along so well. The two of them sit next to each other at the front window, waiting for us when we get home.

I'm so in love with my fur babies! They are the sweetest cats ever. I personally think they have such great temperaments because they started their lives at IBKC!

Thank you so much for sharing this update, Bernadette! I'm so glad the boys became such great buddies. Enjoy those sweet peas of yours and tell them we love them!

First Picked, Last to Leave

Do you remember Ramona/ Ramón Clover? Well, he has a new baby brother and his name is Ernest Plunkett.

I promised Bernadette, his mama, pick of the Plunkett litter and when she came to visit these dear kittens it was Ernest who caught her eye. He was full of energy that day, just like every other day,  and put on quite a show for her.  She was looking for a playful kitten to help entertain Ramón, and Ernest certainly fit the bill.  His snuggling skills and strong motor helped cinch the deal!  

Bernadette had a little traveling to do before she could bring home her Ernest, so his stay was a little longer and we had him here several days after his sisters left. He really made himself part of our family and we enjoyed his last few days with us immensely.








He was allowed to come upstairs and hang out in Charlene and Wylla's world and the girls loved sharing their space with him. They all ran wild and played together. He scaled their cat tower and wrestled with their catnip bananas.  We even let him sleep in the bed with us, which is something we rarely ever allow kittens to do, but we didn't want the little guy to be alone, so he joined us. It was a little crowded, but he found a spot on my pillow and slept there most of the nights.

Bernadette came on Monday to pick up Ernest.  Of course we before he left we gathered up all of his orange pompons and packed them in a bag.



We were all a little sad to see him go, but it was hardest on Wylla when he left. She kept looking for her little friend and over the next few days you could see she was restless and a little mopey, which is not how she usually behaves after a batch leaves.

She's fine now. We had some holiday houseguests and I put up the Christmas decorations, so things have been pretty interesting around here, so she's been pretty entertained.



Though we miss him, we couldn't possibly be happier for Ernest Plunkett.

You landed yourself a great home, dear boy!  Please say hello to Ramón  I know you two are going to be so happy together!

It Was Perfect

It was the perfect calm and quiet Sunday morning. Charlene was perched on the back of her favorite chair, in her favorite napping spot, with a belly full of breakfast, and was warming her whiskers in a sunbeam.

It was glorious.




But then little shadow named Ernest blocked her sunbeam.





And booped her nose.




It WAS the perfect  calm and quiet Sunday morning.

Shortest to Longest, Smallest to Biggest

I'm not sure how much floof actually weighs, but it seems that the floofier the Plunkett, the more the Plunkett weighs.

Here they are in order of weight (smallest to largest) and coat length (shortest to longest).

Of course they're all equally adorable.

In Love with a Rug

I keep the kittens out of our guest room, but the other morning while I was carrying a laundry basket into the room, Ernest dashed past me and slipped inside.

When his toes touched the fuzzy rug at the foot of the bed, he stopped in his tracks, dropped, and started rolling around in a complete state of bliss.  Many biscuits were made and purrs were purred.

Seeing the joy this rug brought this boy, I decided to bring the rug out to the living room for all to enjoy.

It's a huge hit with all, but Ernest loves the rug the most.

Family Portrait Time!

Finally! All four Plunketts sat still long enough for me to snap a couple of quick family portraits!

From left to right:
Ellie, Ernest, Lucille and Vancie.

It's shocking that much cuteness can be contained in one little basket.

Springing them Soon!

They just fit right in with the other tchotchkes, don't they?

That's Ellie in the first few pictures. The hairs in her ears are getting a little whiter now, which is making it much easier to tell she and Ernest apart.









And then there's Lucille.  As she gets bigger, she seems to be getting rounder.  By the time she's ready to leave our nest, she maybe be a perfect ball.









These cuties moved in two weeks ago today, so quarantine is is officially up.  Though they are ready to come out, I'm not ready for them to come out. Once a year, I do flowers for a very big event, and I need to get that party behind me before I spring them.

The big cats are dying to meet them, so today I'll let them go in for a visit.  On Wednesday the kittens will be introduced to the bigger world!  Hooray! It will be fun having them bounce around the house!

Frightful Weather and Friendly Kittens

 Oh, the weather outside was frightful, and possibly the wettest, windiest Halloween I've ever witnessed here in Tacoma.

Opal and Ellis stopped by early in the day for a treat -- to spend some time with our little Plunketts

Because we're still in the quarantine phase, the kittens really haven't had a lot of visitors, especially not little ones, so I wasn't sure how they would react to our guests. I thought maybe they would scamper away when we all entered their room, but they were all curious and said hello.

Opal and Ellis are such experienced kitten handlers, and the kittens felt comfortable in their hands.

Ernest was especially happy to be held in the arms of Ellis, who was dressed in a furry werwolf costume.











Our trick-or-treater count was low this year, I think the weather kept kids off of the street, it was a quiet night and we have a LOT of leftover candy.

Wylla enjoyed what activity we had outside, and though it was quiet, it was more exciting than the average evening,  so she perched in the window and watched.

Four Little Ghosts

I brought the Haunted House into the kitten room so our little Plunketts could have some Halloween fun.  They've been really enjoying it, and all morning long, I've heard the jingle ball in the doorway jingling away. They're very excited having something new in their quarters to explore.

The Importance of Being Ernest

Good morning! Please say hello to dear Ernest Plunkett.  He looks a lot like his little sister Ellie, with  a short black coat and a occasional wispy white hair. The easiest way to tell them apart is by their size -- he weighs a few more ounces and his frame is stockier.  His ears are a little flatter, too, but that could be temporary. They're all just a little nervous right now, so once he's feeling a little more confident, they may pop up.

And though he's still a wee bit scared, that doesn't stop him from purring.  Just a little scratch on the back of the head will get his motor running.

He's the only boy in this set of four and we'll be meeting his other sister on Monday. Any predictions on what she might look like? Another black baby bear, perhaps? Or a Siamese? That would be fun, we haven't had one of those in a long time.  Or an orange? How perfect would that be for the Halloween season?  What do you think? What color will she be?
