Well, he's awesome!
I just got a note from Karin, his mama, and she reported things are going great for the little guy. He became fast friends with his new brother Allen, and they're living a great life together.
From Karin:
They're sharing space and litter boxes, grooming each other, having both cuddly moments and rough-and-tumble play. Hurley has conquered the 3-level "condo," moving with ease between the basement and the upstairs loft. Allen alerted us that the kitten food is mislabeled; he says it should read "Brother and Baby Cat."
I love how quickly they bonded. They do look so happy together, don't they?
Thanks so much for sharing a Hurley update and these sweet photos, Karin! I'm so thrilled things are going so great!

A Home for Hurley!

Karin, who's a volunteer at our Humane Society and has logged many hours working in the Emergency Pet Food Bank over the years, took an immediate liking to Hurley when I first introduced our Huddlestons on the blog. She figured this adorable boy would get snatched up fast, and quickly dismissed any dreams of making him a part of their family.
Well, he did get snatched up, but the adoption fell through and suddenly Hurley Huddleston was back on the market. Within moments of me announcing his availability, I got a nice note from Karin introducing herself and her family and professing her love for this kitten. We made an appointment for her to come and meet him that afternoon.
During the visit, I learned a little bit more about Karin's family, which includes a husband, teenage daughter, a dog, and a young adult cat named Allen. There home sounded awesome -- complete with cat towers and custom-built cat walkways! It sounded like they could offer a really great life to dear Hurley and his fate was sealed!
Karin had some traveling to do in the days to come, so though he was ready to move on, she wasn't quite ready for him, so we had an extra week with Hurley. This worked out great because it gave him some time alone with our big cats and offered them a chance to give him a few private lessons on "How to be a good little brother cat."
Within a couple of hours of his adoption, I got a sweet message from Karin letting me know how quickly dear Hurley was settling in. It sounds like they're pretty thrilled to have this happy, social boy in their life!
Thanks so much for adopting our Hurley, Karin! I'm so glad it worked out that he could be yours! We wish you and your whole family the best!!

Moving On
It's always fun when we get to spend some time with a single kitten. We get to know them a little better and see who they are without the influence with of the littermates.
The last week with Hurley has been awesome. He's really worked his way in -- he found his spot on the bed at night, his tier on the kitty tower, some good napping spots and hidey-holes. He became closer to Bean and Wylla. He drove them crazy. We saw him at his wildest and his loviest, too.
He's primed and ready to go, and tonight he's moving on to start his life with his forever family.
We will miss the little dude. The time with him as been special.

Hurley and the Girlies

We're down to one Huddleston now! Beau, Lovey, Spencer, and Tillie have left and are settling into their new homes. Hurley has found his family, but they're not quite ready for him to move in yet, so he'll be with us for a few more days.
Becuase it's just him now, and we don't want him to feel alone, he's been granted full priveledges and has run of the house --just like big cats. The girls have taken him under their wings, and have become good friends to the little guy. He likes their attention and I think he's grateful for their companionship.
They make a pretty adorable trio and it's been a whole lot of fun watching them interact!

I shared this on Instagram last night, but I thought I would post it here too for those who might have missed it. It's just little Hurley making a big leap. Again and again and again. It's the same SPROING, I just knew you would want to watch it more than once, so I strung a few together.

Big Love for These Little Tabbies

They're not all gone yet, but the Huddleston population has been dwindling over the past few days. Before they started trickling out the door, they all lined up and sat still for their final family portraits.
From left to right: Lovey, Beau, Hurley, Tillie and Spencer.
Aren't they just breathtaking creatures? Everyone is a little different, but all are equally spectacular. And they are as dear and sweet as they are beautiful.
Their expressions say "I would like to love and be loved by you," don't they? That's truly what they are all about.
I've always had a deep fondness for the tabbies, but after spending time with this crew, I think it might be even a little deeper now.
What a special set. Their adopting families are the luckiest people alive.

A Home for Hurley

We had a strange turn of events this morning. Because of some very recent life changes, Hurley's adopter texted me this morning to say she had decided it would be a bad time to bring in a kitten and regretfully needed to back out of the adoption.
So, this charming lad is officially back on the market! He's easy and sweet but still filled with plenty of kitten spunk. Because he's been raised with adult cats, he's learned to respect his elders and would merge nicely into a home with cats of any age. He loves laps and is generous with his purrs. Did I mention he's handsome? Of course, you know that. You say that picture above, right?
If you're in the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area and think this cutie might be a good match for you, please shoot us an email and tell us a little bit about yourself!
Thanks!
UPDATE: HURLEY HUDDLESTON FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME THIS AFTERNOON! Thanks to all who helped spread the word!
