Goodbye Gibsons Pt 2

DSC_0765

Mikala and family were sent our way by one of my friends from the Seattle art community.

I always love it when friends send people our way.  Our friends know how important finding wonderful families for our kittens is to us,  so they only send the best people our way.  Mikala and family were no exception.

Mikala's son, Simon,  just celebrated a birthday.  For his birthday,  he was promised a pair of kittens.

When they came down to meet the Gibsons, Pheona and Sherman had already been picked, so their choices were between Cedric, Charles, and Rutherford.

With these adorable selections, this choice wasn't easy.

In fact, they were completely torn, and during their visit, they went back and forth many times discussing who might be the best pair for them.  A decision was made, and Charles and Cedric were their choices.

But on the car ride home, they discussed it a little further.  They even discussed the idea of adopting all three.  In the end, Simon decided that his birthday kittens should be Cedric and Rutherford.  Mikala sent me a note when they returned home letting me know of their change in plans.

Cedric and Rutherford left this Saturday afternoon and now are all settled into their new home, and I'm sure, making a certain young man and his family quite happy.

Happy Birthday, Simon!    Happy Adoption Day, Cedric and Rutherford!

All is Well

I picked the kitties up around 4:30 yesterday. They were all awake, and excited to get out of their kitten cubbies.    Everyone did JUST fine.   There were no complications at all.

Francis, who works in the cattery, has had a crush on sweet Cedric since the start, so she snuck in a couple of time during the day to give him a little love.  Lucky boy.   Lucky Francis.

When they go they got home they ran and ran all over the house.   They had the sense to keep it on the ground, and played a good game of soccer with a mylar ball.   No one seemed too interested in leaping or climbing, which is a good thing for post-surgery kittens.

They turned in early last night, and were clamoring to get our of their room this morning.

They scarfed down their breakfast and have returned to their soccer match.

Pheona's shaved, spotted belly is just about the cutest thing I've seen.  If I can get her to flip over long enough for a photo, I'll be sure to share it with you.

Our little Gibsons sure have grown up. They are starting to look a lot less kitten-y, and are now looking like tiny grown-up cats. As sad as it will be to say goodbye to this fabulous bunch, I'm excited for them to start the next chapter of their lives.

There's No Time to Rest!

So don't even think about climbing up on that couch, Cedric!  We've got many sqillions to raise!

DSC_0892

I know many of you prefer to donate on the days dedicated to a specific program or during a matching donation challenge, but we have neither of those today.

No matter when you chose to donate, your dollars matter.    And no matter how many dollars you donate, it all helps.

A small donation may cover the cost of a flea treatment for a stray kitty,  a larger donation can pay for  the teeth cleaning for a senior cat.

Either way, big or small, your donation improves the life of a shelter cat.

So lets make things better for LOTS of kitties today.

We've got four days left, and 16 squillion left to raise.   If you're in a position to help, please visit our fundraising page, and make a tax-deductible donation.

Thank you for listening to my many pleas.   I appreciate you sticking around through all of this.

xoxo

OH, one last thing...  don't forget about our IBKC Poetry Corner Contest.   I posted it earlier yesterday, and it kind of got buried under all of yesterday's posts.    Entries are due Thursday 10:00 AM Pacific Time.

IBKC Poetry Corner

Cedric, our handsome little tuxey boy, inspired this poem by our friend, Cynthia.    Thanks so much for penning this wonderful piece.    Well done, Cynthia.  Well done.

Enjoy, everyone....

The Secret of Tuxes

You know the old saying, “Don’t mess with tuxes”?
Lend me your ear and I’ll share what the crux is.
But first, I must confess exactly how charming
I am – so much so that some find it alarming.

Why, me in particular? Let me give you the story.
My black coat flashes white blazes of glory.
As if that weren't enough to show I’m genteel,
A soft smoky jacket completes my appeal.

I was born with charisma coming out of my ears
I’m cute, perhaps even more than my peers.
I’m purry, I’m furry, I’m sweet and I’m wacky.
I love a good cuddle -- hope you don't think that's tacky.

I do have a limit – just one, I recall.
Don’t get between me and my sparkly ball.
My reaction could run to both ends of the spectrum
The last guy who did? Well, heck, I wrecked him.

I’m kidding, you see – just a harmless josh
Someone tells you elsewise, well, that’s hogwash.
Because the thing is with tuxes, and this is the word
Is that tuxes are so lovey it’s almost absurd.

 Love, Cedric

Cedric Has Something to Say

My name is Cedric Gibson, and I'm going to be completely honest with you, I am trying to dazzle  you with my charm , boyish good looks and silly kitten ways.

You see, we're having a little fundraiser for the cats and kittens at the Humane Society for Tacoma/Pierce County.  Today's a very special day in our fundraiser - all the money we raise today will  go to the shelter's foster program.

And I am a foster kitten.

So, I feel it is my duty to be dazzling and charming and weaken you with my uber-cuteness with hopes that you might give a little to support this program.

Brace yourself, here we go.

I've heard that kittens on their backsides are exponentially cuter than those upright, so I'll start by flipping over.

Did you notice my pink lower lip? It's one of my best features.   I'm highly kissable.

And how about my wispy whiskers?

DSC_0900

And my snowy white chin.

You want to nuzzle my neck, don't you.  Can you hear my purrs?   They're quite loud.  And they are just for you

DSC_0903

Can you hug me?  Will you hold me?

DSC_0913

Let me show you my toes. Everyone loves my toes.

Is it working?  Are you dazzled?  Are you charmed?

DSC_0927

Sigh.  I hope so.

So what do you think?

Can we count on you for a little support today.  Any amount will do.

Just pop on over to our fundraising page.  And tell them Cedric sent you.

And don't forget...  we've got  a matching donation challenge happening today.  All of our dollars are doubled until we reach our $2500 cap!  We've got $1700 left to meet it, and until Midnight tonight (Pacific Time)  to do it!

We're Grateful It's Over!

The Gibsons were happy to see the end of a very noisy Fourth.  The poor little kittens were on edge all day long.

Today,  they've come out of hiding and are enjoying a nap on top of the bed.

They're happy, purring and relaxed kittens once again.

Say There, Cedric...

 Is there something you need?

DSC_0770

By all means, come on up.

DSC_0771

Sit right down and settle in.

DSC_0774

My, you are a handsome young man.

Those wispy whiskers, your wee white chin, that licorice nose, and those toes...

Let's see those toes.

And ANOTHER Name!

DSC_0906

Our dear friend Cynthia was the high-bidder on this little fellow's naming rights auction.      She felt because of his tux and smoking jacket, he deserved something formal, so she selected "Cedric".

Hello, Cedric.     You ARE Cedric, aren't you.    It's perfect.

Once again, our namer hit the nail on the head.  Nice work, Cynthia.

And thank you so much your generous bid!
