An Enid and Hester Sue Update!

DSC_0378

DSC_0251

I'm sorry the post is so late this morning. I was back in the Midwest,  and after a long day traveling home, I needed a slower start today.

We've still got MORE alumni updates to share,  and today we've got a pair of cuties we met in 2008 -- Hester Sue and Enid LaBath.  They are pictured above, and Hester is the one with the gray triangle on her nose.

Hi Laurie

I know I don’t update the blog as I should for Enid and Hester but I take pictures every day and love them every day. I am so grateful for them. I just hope they are happy with me. I may be crazy but I tell them that and whisper my affection to them. Their purrs are a delight as well as their antics. The news I have is not all fun though.

During Christmas 2016 I came down with the flu. While trying to beat the bug I didn’t notice Enid was taking a slide into the danger zone. New Year’s Day I resurfaced to the land of the living to rush her to the emergency room. She had a severe kidney infection and dehydrated. She spent 4 days at the emergency room getting the necessary medication and tests. My best friend always accompanied me to the vet to get the latest news and translate what I missed or didn’t understand. I was all tears and heartbroken that it was my fault. She got better. BUT then I had to subject her (and Hester) to a teeth cleaning since the doctor thought something was up. Poor Enid lost four teeth. Both Hester and Enid are on 6-month health visits. Enid will always have her kidneys check and so will Hester as a precaution. I call Enid my 6,000 dollar lemon that is the sweetest lemonade that I could buy. One of my friends sent me money to help with the medical bills. I am grateful for the cats, my family,  and friends.

Thank you very much for the wonderful gift you gave me.

Karen

Thank you so much for sharing the update, Karen. I'm so glad that Enid is doing better now -- I'm sure that was a scary ordeal to go through.   We wish you many more happy and healthy years to come. The girls are gorgeous and it's nice to see them again -- we appreciate you taking the time to share them with us today!

Alumni Update: Enid and Hester Sue LaBath!!

I was excited to see an update on Enid And Hester Sue LaBath land in my mail box.  They were such adorable little creatures, and it's always nice to see what they're up to!   Karen, their mama, has done a great job keeping in touch over the years, which we certainly do appreciate!

Remember their sweet faces??

Here's little Enid (and her sweet little wings).

Karen was quite generous and shared lots of Enid and Hester fun facts!! And lots of pictures, too!!

 • Hester LOVE curtains. She will create little hammock out of them and sleep the day away. Enid is learning to do the same.

• Enid is very serious about her breakfast. My feet had better be on the floor by 4:30 am and her food ready by 4:45 am. However, she knows she won’t get anything until I get morning snuggles. She really lets her purr out on those occasions.

 • Enid loves napping with people. My niece fell asleep and Enid paced and paced until I lifted the blanket so she could curl up next to my niece for nap hour.

  • Hester loves running every where. Keep the path clear and all hands and feet inside at all times or she will knock you down. She is my constant companion and shadow. It is interesting that Enid marches to her own drummer but Hester always wants to be with me.  • Both girls love catnip. Hester hallucinates when she gets it. She nibbles her back feet and her tail when she is higher than a kite. If I have a catnip plant Enid will “sing” to it….all-the-live-long-day!

 • Hester is a major jumper. She will be on the floor on second and in the next second she will be on my shoulder. No announcement just there. It is very scary when I am cooking over the stove but she trusts me to catch her.

 • Enid isn’t very good at jumping but she is very vocal when she wants an assistance to reach the highest cabinet. When I help her down she talks about it. She is a talker!

 • One crazy thing about Hester - when I was in the hospital my best friend’s son brought me a small stuffed toy cat to keep me company. Hester carries it around the house like a kitten. If she can’t find it she will carry some of my archery prizes which are stuffed fishes, stuffed Totoro, a stuffed toy from PopCap games, etc.

In every photo below - they were purring. I find that so endearing about them. I just have to say their name and they purr. I love them both. I torture them with snuggles, scratches, pets, and hugs. I am currently saving up to build shelves for the girls so they can climb the walls. I want to buy them the “Indiana Jones” rope bridge I found. I know they will love it. I love spoiling them and being with them.

Thank you very much for my girls.

 Karen

Thanks for sharing your girls with us, Karen. They are such lovely creatures, and such characters, too!  We're so happy to know you spoil them so!! They deserve it!!

If you need a little more of the LaBaths, pleas take a look at the video posted HERE.

A big thanks to all the families of these former IBKs for sharing photos of your babes all grown up. It's so nice seeing all these happy, healthy faces again!

I'm hoping that after seeing so many of these awesome IBKC success stories, you might feel inspired to pay a visit to our FUNdrasing page, and make a little donation to help other awesome kittens find awesome families.  Every little bit helps! Every little bit is appreciated!

I've got a few more alumni updates to share, and if I don't get them up today, I'll sprinkle them in next week.

Yep, They're All Gone

goodbye little ladies

This weekend we said goodbye to the last of The LaBaths. Enid and Hester Sue's Mom braved the winter weather to pick up her kitties on Saturday morning.

They had been bouncing lightly about the house when Mama Karen arrived. She put their carrier on the floor, opened up the doors and both girls (and Charlene) quietly explored it while we did all of the adoption paper work. I packed up the last of their belongings, we said our good-byes, the kittens put on their mittens, and off they went.

We certainly enjoyed our last days with these girls. We usually don't keep the kittens so long. It was fun to watch them mature a bit more and see the hair grow back in on their once-shaved little bellies.

It was a true delight knowing all of the LaBath girls. They were an exceptional little litter, I can't imagine a sweeter bunch. We will miss them dearly.

We're taking a kitten break while we finish up with the holiday season. We've got our tree up now, and I don't want to spend the next few weeks fishing kittens out of it. Also, it's a hectic time for me with work, and I don't feel I have time or focus that kittens demand.

I've still got lots of LaBath pics left so share,, so I'll continue to post those (probably not everyday) until we get a fresh batch.

If you need more of a kitten fix, you can visit Enid and Hester's blog.
And don''t forget, there are lots of other IBKC Alumni blogs,, (scroll down the page a bit,,, they're all listed right hand side)

Lean On Me

Take the picture, please. We can't hold this pose much longer. Thankyou.
This picture was taken just a couple of days after the LaBath Ladies moved in. They were such babies then!

Bah Humbug

Bah Humbug
How can you possibly expect me to get into the holiday spirit without a Christmas tree to climb?

I'm sorry Hester,,but THIS is why kittens don't get Christmas trees.

  Holidays are so depressing

OK,, You Two Can Relax Now...

Enid and Hester Sue have been officially claimed. They met their new mom this weekend, and after much deliberation, she decided these two should be hers. They're not leaving right away. We'll have a couple more weeks with them before they head out the door.

Two down,,, two to go.

Hester Sue LaBath

hester2

Name: Hester Sue LaBath
Nickname: Hester Soup
Describe yourself in 20 words or less: I'm a perfect combination of love bug and spunky kitten. I will entertain you with my antics, then nap on your neck.
What are your hobbies? Exploring. If there's a closed door, I would like to know what's on the other side. No, I NEED to know what's on the other side.
Favorite toy: I have a sparkly stringy ball that I LOVE to chase around. Oops, I chased it under the door. You'll have to let me in there so I can get it. Thank you.
Dislikes: I don't like being alone. None of us do.
Dream-home: What? We're moving? Where ever it is I'm going, I must insist I bring a sister.
An interesting fact about me: I have the teeny-tiniest dots on my belly and chest. They're in two little patches, some are gray, some are brown, all are perfect. I'm getting more and more brown in my coat all the time. I think I'm turning tabby.
Minor Imperfection: My exploring has been known to take me to dangerous places.
Why should you adopt me? Because your last cat wasn't cuddly enough. I'll be your snugly kitten scarf.
