Catching Up with Walter and Ira

I just got a little update from Walter and Ira's mom, Lynne. It sounds like the boys are doing great and the adjustment period was a short one. Here's what Mom has to say.....

The boys are doing really well here. They are growing fast. They tear all over the house and explore everything, just like good kittens should. We are enjoying them immensely.

We had a little hissing from our big boys Gidney and Cloyd for the first week, I would say. Now they all seem to get along fine and the big cats even play with the little ones sometimes. I am thrilled at how well they have all adjusted.

It's so great seeing them again! Thanks for the pictures, Lynne.

The Good, the Bad and the Blurry

I put together a little movie for you all. What you'll see is pretty much every single picture I took of The Finches. It's 3.5 minutes and there are nearly 1800 images. It's unedited, so there are plenty of blurry, under/over exposed, or just plain duds. You can see how many shots I have to take to get just a handful of post-worthy pictures.

It goes by pretty fast, that's intentional. It wasn't trying to make it a slide show where you can pause on the pictures. Instead, more of an animated short that shows the kittens from day one to departure.

Enjoy! But don't blink! You might miss something....

Farewell Finch Boys -or- Bye Bye Birdies

DSC_0044
From the moment the Finch boys met their new mom and dad it was clear they were meant to be a family. The boys greeted them and played comfortably near them and in their laps. Ira even climbed up on his new dad's shoulders to perch.

Just like all our adopters , their parents are good people. The universe is so kind to us. It always seems to send the perfect parents our way. I am so grateful for that.

So, yep. They're gone. Those sweet little boys who burrowed deep into our hearts have moved on. I know we'll all miss these two. When they left I said to their mom "you're going to love these boys". Without hesitation she responded "oh, we already do". So take comfort in that, please.

Here are a couple of shots of the boys in their old school kitty carrier just before they left.

I got word, they're doing great. They are as happy as can be in their new home and their parents are enjoying their pair of boisterous boys immensely.

More kittens? Not quite yet. I've got a big project in the works, I'm writing a craft book, and I need to get through the next few weeks without distraction. As soon as my deadline passes, we'll see what's available at the shelter. I'll continue to post, but it will most likely be little lighter than normal. There are still more Finch photos and movies to share. I've got a couple of IBKC alumni updates too.

Thanks again for loving Ira and Walter so. Thank you too for being such a huge part in their start in life. We appreciate you very, very much.

xoxo

Well, It's Time For the Finches to Take Flight

DSC_0723

It's true, it's time. Our little Finches have been fixed, met their family, and are moving on. I know how hard you fell for this pair and how sad you'll be to say goodbye. They've found a very nice family, so you need not worry. They will be loved and adored.

I'll give you more details on their family later, for now, lets enjoy our last days with the dear sweet boys.

A Friendly Visitor

DSC_0696

You might recognized Dulcey (the dog). She stopped by this summer with her mom, Sarah, and met The Darlings. Click here to read the post.

She and Sarah stopped by again last week to say hello.

It was interesting to see how everyone reacted to Dulcey. Ira was a little bit of a scaredy-cat and perched on my Dad's knee, keeping a safe distance.

Charlene was slightly annoyed by this wiggly house guest. She wasn't frightened at all, just a tad ruffled. She seemed a bit confused by Dulcey's body language, but I'm pretty sure it was understood by all parties exactly who was in charge. (The Bean, of course)

Walter, well he was as cool as a cucumber and was happy to make a new acquaintance .

Dulcey seemed thrilled to meet them all.

Bigger Baby Birds

Our little baby birds are getting so big now. Both boys had a major growth spurt last week. Walter's body in getting long and tall. Ira's stretching out too, but it's mostly happening around his mid-section.

Check out Ira's eyes. The right one has shifted to a greeny-brown, just like Walter's, but the left remains blue.

They're changing fast. Slow down boys. We're not quite ready to say goodbye to you yet!

Going Somewhere, Walter?

DSC_0717

DSC_0728

While Craig packed his suitcase for a quick family visit, Walter climbed inside to investigate. He burrowed in it for awhile, and Ira joined him too. Eventually he settled in and drifted off to sleep, slightly reclined, and belly up.
