Now You Know!

Below are the answers to yesterday's alumni quiz.

So, how did you do? It was really hard, I know.

No one got them all correct, but a couple of you got six out of seven right, which is really awesome, because it was difficult.  Thanks for playing along! We'll try another one before the week is out.

More alum updates to come today,  and don't forget, we've got a huge matching happening now and ALL that we raise will help build the new room for the foster kittens, and Cynthia has offered up a $5000 match, and we've got $4155 to go, so if you're in a position to help, please do!

To learn more about the match and the room we are funding and see a touching video from Cynthia, just scroll down to the previous post!

To make a tax-deductible donation for the new foster room, visit our FUNdraising page.

Sweet spotted-belly Cyrus Loudermilk as a wee boy...

And a much bigger sweet spotted-belly Cyrus.

Elise, his mom, says he's the most spirited and cuddliest kitten ever.

And I believe her!

Thanks for the adorable pics, Elise!

A Dog and His Kitten

Three years ago,  our friends Elise and Michael adopted a German Shorthaired Pointer pup named Dose.   Dose,  pronounced Dose-y,  is short for Dosewallips, a river and state park here in Washington.

Their plan was to eventually add a kitten to their family, and they were just waiting for the timing to feel right,  Dose to grow up a little bit, and for that perfect kitten to come along.

During this time, we kept our eyes open for a good kitten match for this family.  Oliver Furman was a contender, but the timing wasn't quite right.

After Murray, our Greyhound friend, came for a visit last month and we saw how smitten Clive Loudermilk was with this pup,  I sent Elise a message to let her know we had a dog-loving kitten in our current litter.  She talked about it with Michael,  they looked at the pictures of Clive, then all three came over for a meet-and-greet with the Loudermilks.

Dose has met several cats in his day, some friendly, some not.  The memories of the non-friendlys and  the quantity of kittens in the room made Dose a little bit nervous, so at first, he hid behind mom.    The kittens were comfortable and curious and most came close.   I think Ralphie was the only one who hung back - not out of fear, he was just happy atop his perch and under the lamplight.

As the evening progressed, Dose became more at ease and more playful. If he got startled and hid again, he could easily be coaxed out with a few words and a freeze-dried chicken treat.

We bounced a tennis ball with Dosey and Clive joined in on the game.  During this time, little Cyrus was close by, and snuggling in the laps of Michael and Elise.   Graham, who was curious at first, joined Ralphie on the perch.

We had a nice visit, then the three left and discussed this big decision.

A couple of days later, I checked in with Elise to see if they had made up their minds yet.   Much to my surprise, they decided they wanted to adopt CYRUS.   That whole time we were playing ball with Dosey and Clive, Cyrus was busy stealing both of their hearts!  Sneaky little kitten.

I got a message from Elise, and things are going really well for Cyrus in his new home.   The whole family is happy with their choice!

Thank you so much for adopting our dear boy!  I am so glad your perfect kitten came along!

New Homes!!

We've had a flurry of adoptions and meet and greets over the past week.  Every one has found their place,  and dear Graham, the last to find his family, will be leaving this evening.

Their stay with us was brief.  They were such healthy little guys, so  they grew so fast.

Tomorrow we'll start sharing the departure tales.  As always, our kittens found some very happy homes!!

I've been chin-deep in holiday projects.  I'm working on a huge event for a client, and decorating a whole neighborhood of holiday houses.   The kittens, of course, we excited to help with the project.

Thank you Mr Housing Inspector.

Cyrus Loudermilk's Teeny TIny Tongue

He was done with his bath, but Cyrus neglected to retract that last little bit of his tongue.  He just sat there sat there for minutes, looking at me and looking around, with that tiny bit of pink sticking out.

I tried VERY hard not to laugh, but eventually I released a burst of laughter which startled him, and his teeny tiny tongue disappeared.

Sorry for the laugh at your expense, Cyrus.

So, So Terribly Tired

Because being a cute little tabby kitten is absolutely exhausting.

 Right, Cyrus?

The Return of the Kitten Whisperer

Mr and Mrs Kitten Whisperer (my parents) are here for the holiday.   Of course, the Loudermilks took an instant liking to my pa.

He's a very popular perch.

Sweet Cyrus

I went into the kitten room and asked the sweet gray tabby, "Is your name Cyrus?"

DSC_0046

And he let a little cry that sounded much more like a yes than a no.

Introducing, sweet Cyrus Loudermilk.
