Itty Bitty Emi Committee

emi art
I just recieved the most precious gift last night. Emi, whose family adopted Penny and Pierre from the original IBKC litter, created this darling sculpture of Charlene and LeRoy for me. I simply adore it and I will treasure it a lifetime. Thank you Emi!!

I also wanted to wish a happy birthday to Penny and Pierre who just celebrated their one year birthday! It's hard to believe our very first babies are that old. I get the occasional update from Emi and her sister Abby. It sounds like they have grown up to be wonderful cats. I'm sure it's because they get so much love from Emi, Abby, and the rest of their family.

It was really fun going through all the pictures from the year and selecting one of each kitten for today's post. I enjoyed reflecting on each of our babies during this process.

What a wonderful year it's been. I feel so lucky having all of these lovely kittens as a part of our lives. Each one was so precious and fabulous in their own special way. It was an amazing experience watching them grow and seeing their personalities develop. They made us laugh many, many times. We were touched by their sweetness. They enriched our lives so much.

It's been a pleasure getting to know all of you as well. We appreciate you always being there and loving these babies from afar. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I want to wish you all the best for 2008. I hope your year is bright and filled with lots of love, happiness, and good health.

hello old friend

DSC_0261.JPG

we had some very special visitors this weekend. original IBKC members penny and pierre, along with my friend saya and her niece emi, stopped by for the afternoon. emi and her family adopted p and p in late june. this was the first we had seen them since they left us. p and p looked so healthy and happy. it was quite evident that they receive a lion's share of care and love from their family.

charlene seemed to remember them both. they all bumped noses and greeted each other. charlene even gave pierre a bath, just like old times. we introduced them to the foster babies. there was a little puffing out and hissing, but generally, all the kitties and cats seemed comfortable.

there was a lot of giggling too. emi squealed with joy at the first site of the babies. then she giggled and giggled and giggled as they ran around and climbed over us. i remember when we first brought p and p to meet their new family. emi was pretty timid and nervous around the kittens. it was so great to see how comfortable she was handling p and p and all the babies now.

kim, craig and i marveled at how large p and p had become. even emi was surprised how big they were compared to the itty-bitties. she picked up a baby and said "this is like air". then she picked up pierre and a baby and said " this is pierre plus air". it's true, in comparison, they do feel like air.

it was so great seeing p and p again. it's kind of funny, but in a way i think i miss them less now than before. i guess i was missing who they were when they were ours. now that i've seen them again and i realize they are different cats, i can't miss them the same way. i think it's good though. the reunion offered a little closure.

Penny (aka Penelope) was a sweet and determined little girl. She could out smart, out run, out leap and out wrestle all of her brothers. Pierre and Penny really bonded, so we were thrilled when they found a home together.

Itty Bitty Penny

Oh, dear sweet Penny. She's only about three weeks old here.
I adore her tiny little toenails and dreamy blue eyes.

Kitten Class of 2007

Hello ! I would like you to meet the original Itty Bitty Kitty Committee. From left to right we have Penny, Cassius, Vinny and Pierre.

This batch of babes came into our lives in early spring, when they were just a few days old.   We fostered this adorable set  along with our friend Kim and once they were old enough to be adopted,  we found them homes.

This photo was taken shortly before the first of the batch left the nest.

If you have the space in your life to foster, it's a very rewarding experience, and I encourage you to give it a try.

good bye kitties
