A Livermore Update!

DSC_3234

I'm sorry to say that this update today isn't an entirely happy one.  As Cori will explain in the story, she lost one of her IBKs.   Knowing how much Cori loved her boys, I know this left a big hole in her heart.  And though her boy can never be replaced, her heart  (and home) is full again, thank goodness.

Here's the update.

Hi Laurie,

Happy 10 year anniversary! So very grateful for you and all you do matching kitties with their forever humans. I can't tell you how much my little Livermore twins mean to me. It broke my heart when Elvis (formerly Davy)  passed two years ago. He fought to stick with Us as long as he could, but in the end, Albert and I had to let him go. I get teary still. He was a one and a million cat.

Albert and I spent the next year healing our hearts and in a story too long to tell in this update, ended up with a stray cat giving birth on our bathroom floor. Mama cat stayed with her babies until they were weaned and she could be spayed and released. The babies never left, and now, a year later, Bert is the proud uncle to 4 mischievous kittens and happy participant in their youthful shenanigans. Our house finally feels full again, though I know it all started 9 years ago with my two tabby Livermore boys.

Thank you so much!

Cori

First, here is a picture of beloved Elvis. What a dear, handsome kitty you were. Look at all of that love in your expression.

And here is gorgeous, green-eyed Albert. I used to tell these two apart by their freckles.  I love how prominent they are today!

Albert,  you have your paws full with this crew!

Thank you so much for sharing with us today, Cori. We're so sorry you had to experience this loss. Elvis was a special boy, and he's one of the reasons I have such a fondness for floofy tabby boys -- Bean, too.  They are a special breed.

Much love to you, Albert,  and his adorable minions.

Albert and Elvis

Albert and Elvis (formerly Davy) were half of an amazing set of kittens, the Livermore Four.

Here are the little Livermore Lads.

And here are the handsome gentlemen today!  Such regal creatures!

From Cori, their mama...

The boys are doing beautifully and I can honestly say I often think about how different my life would be without them. We made the long move to Texas exactly one year ago this week. The boy were amazing during the drive and have settled in beautifully. Things they love about Texas in order of importance: air conditioning, carpeted stairs, sunny windows all year long, bugs. I can't tell you how grateful I am to you and the IBKC for introducing me to my sweet, sweet furballs!

Thanks so much for sharing, Cori!  Your photos are beautiful and so are your cats!

Livermores, No More

DSC_3215
On Saturday, we parted ways with the last of the Livermores. It's quiet around here with out these two boys bouncing about the house.

I've got lots of pics to post of their last days with us, but I've got a busy day ahead, so they'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Hopefully this will give you the kitten fix you need.

Albert's Senior Class Portrait

good god, albert.
It's almost time for the last of The Livermores to graduate from this kitten academy. Albert has selected this picture for the yearbook. He's been voted "Most likely to break hearts" and "Best Whiskers".

EEEEK ! A SPIDER!

All is Well

DSC_1578
I just got home from picking up the babies from the vet. They were all a little groggy when they first got home, but they had a snack, and now they are bouncing off the walls.

Albert seemed to enjoy spending some alone time with Charlene, but was happy to see his siblings return.

All is well.

Cat Fight! Cat Fight!

DSC_1955
These kittens have really turned it up a notch. They used to do this roly-poly playful wrestling and now it's turned into a down-right rough-and-tumble kitten brawl.

Albert has some pretty good moves. He likes to use the element of surprise on his opponents. He'll bite them in the butt while they are at the food dish or he'll ambush them when they are exiting the litter box.

Albert is small, but he's scrappy and smart. Lyle usually wins though, not because of moves,, but because of mass. He outweighs everyone.

Ok.. Lyle Loves Her Just as Much as Albert Does...

As soon as I was done posting the previous post, I walked in on this little scene...
Charlene Butterbean + Lyle Livermore

Butterbean and the Babies

The boys LOVE Charlene. All three of them greet her in the morning by running up to her and rubbing their little bodies against hers. They literally swarm her. They'll settle down and sit right in front of her and lift up their chins and wait for licks on their heads. Trudy isn't nearly as smitten. She puffed up when she met her and let out a few tiny hisses. Since then, she's completely comfortable around her, but doesn't seek the attention like the boys do.

Albert is the one who probably loves Charlene the most. He likes to snuggle up with her and warm his buns on her fluffy tail. She'll tolerate it for a moment, but when it gets to be too much, she'll yank it out from beneath him and roll the poor little boy. He's quick to forgive. Or maybe quick to forget, because he'll try it again seconds later and get rolled again.

Loving the Fluff

From Left to right: Albert, Lyle, and Davy.
There's just something about those dark, fluffy, tabby boys... sigh.
