Beautiful Spooners!

I had to cut into our celebration time and make a run to the airport to pick up Craig.  It was killing me not being able to check blog comments, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram on the road, but it sure was nice to come  back to a flood of congratulations from all of you!  Thanks for being as excited about this victory as we are!  And thank you again to all who helped us reach that goal!   Just so you know, I'm not done thanking you yet.  There will be many posts to come on the subject of my gratitude!

One of the most awesome parts about reaching your goal early is that we still have a full day of fundraising left!  I know some were waiting until the very last day to donate, so we should see plenty more come in.  I can hardly wait to see how high it climbs!

Last year our online fundraising ended up at $107,000 and with auctions, Paypal, and donations gathered by other team members, we ended up at $117,000.  I do hope we can beat last year's record!

I promised lots of alumni updates this week,  so here's another.

Remember these two cuties? They are Theodore and Vivienne Spooner, and they stole our hearts four years ago.

Oh, look at the fabulous creatures are today.   So glorious, floofy, and white.

Thank you for sharing these lovely photos of your babies, Roxanne!   They sure are pretty kitties!  Please give them our best.

They are Smitten With Our Kittens

The Spooners have left. Sniff.

I know,, I know... you're all sad... we're feeling it too. They were a very special pair, lovely inside and out, and I know even though their visit was brief, they captured your hearts.

Mama Roxanne reports the kittens are doing really well and she and Ian already are completely smitten with these two. No surprise there! How could they not be?

You'll be happy to know there will be lots of pictures. Roxanne is a photographer, and is enjoying her new subject matter immensely.

She's already shared a few with me, and they're lovely. Here's my favorite of dear little Theodore.

Theodore Spooner

I went to the HS yesterday to drop of the adoption paperwork and to see if there were any kittens in the foster room. There wasn't a single kitten to be found. I don't imagine there will be too long of a wait, kitten season should be starting soon. We've already seen a couple of pregnant mama cats at the shelter.

While we wait, I've got a couple of more alumni updates, another Spooner movie, more Spooner pics, and Ms. Drewey may just make an appearance too.

The Delightful Theodore and Vivienne Spooner

Yesterday afternoon, I shot over 600 photos of Theodore and Vivienne. I think I may have broke my kitten picture taking record.

They were acting extra adorable, and the sun through the drapes made the nicest rosy glow in the bedroom. I just could't stop shooting.

I strung the images together and made a little movie for you. I'll post some of the individual images later, I'm still trying to narrow it down.

Enjoy! (to see a larger view, click on "vimeo" in the right hand corner of the movie window)

Meet the Parents

Last week, Roxanne and Ian came by for a kitten meet and greet. Viv and Ted had been playing hard all morning, and were starting to settle down when they arrived. The kittens jumped into their laps to say hello. They wrestled around, napped on and off, and enjoyed batting at the lens cap dangling from Roxanne's camera.

The kittens were comfortable and at ease, and as sweet and charming as can be. They quickly stole the hearts of Roxanne and Ian.

While Roxanne and Ian are busy preparing their home for a bouncy pair of kittens, we're getting ready to say goodbye.

It's been a pure joy knowing Viv and Ted. We sure will miss them, and I know you will too.

OH, Baby!

The Spooners our very social little kittens and they're happy to meet anyone who comes into our home. The other day, they got to meet their very fist baby, Ellis. He came over with Mama Jennifer and big sister, Opal.

Ellis LOVED the kittens and they were very calm and sweet around him.

This may explain why he's such a natural with kittens... he was exposed to them at a very early age. Here he is (in Mama's belly) visiting with Francine Darling.

Soon, very Soon....

DSC_0374

The poor little Spooners had to go in for shots and micro-chipping today. They were troopers, and hardly let out a peep when they were stuck with those giant needles. Traci, our foster care coordinator, gave them lots of love and attention while they visited, so it wasn't all bad.

The kittens are giant now, so they're ready for surgery. We've got them on the schedule for next week so soon we'll be saying good bye. I warned you before that the Spooners would be short-timers, so I hope you all have prepared yourself to part ways.

So yes,, they have a home and YES, they are are going together. There will be more details on that to come, and plenty more photos to come too. The camera loves these kittens.

Vivienne and Theodore Spooner

Vivienne and Theodore Spooner

Vivienne and Theodore Spooner won't be staying with us too long. They are already two months old and just need to spend a little time with us while they fatten up. Most likely be leaving in just a couple of weeks. Their quarantine won't be as long as it normally is, so Butterbean will get a chance to mingle with them soon.

They came into the shelter with two siblings, one tabby and one tux, and the four of them spent a little time getting over some bugs and gaining weight in Vet Treatment. Their slightly larger siblings had surgery last week, and went into the cattery for adoption. I'm sure they got snatched up already. They were adorable.

Vivienne and Theodore are nearly all white, with the exception of a few faint black smudges on the top of their heads. Both our floofy, but Theodore's coat is slightly floofier. He has more ear hair too.

These two are sweet, social and affectionate kittens. The second they see you, their eyes get big and bright, the purring starts, and their tails go straight up in the air. They are lovely, lovely beings and their visit with us just isn't going to be long enough.

They're quite photogenic, so even though their visit will be brief, there will be lots of pictures!
