It's March, Where are They?

This morning I woke up thinking that we should be seeing kittens any day now.  January and February are always the quietest months, but in March it seems that things start picking up. I went into the blog archives to see if we were holding kittens on March 17th of the previous years,  and discovered that more years than not, we did.

March 17th 2015:
No kittens, just the big cats! But we were still sidelined after the ringworm incident that fall, so even if there were kittens at the shelter, we couldn't have them.

But we had this silly thing to keep us entertained that DAY.

No kittens on March 17th of 2014, but we had an update on Opal the Kitten (not Opal the Human). We were still taking a break because of Filbert's virus at this time, so no kittens for us.

On March 17th of 2013, we had Wylla and Audrey, and they were tiny.  We were in the thick of it with Wylla, and trying to get to the bottom of her health issues. She had just returned from spending a few days in Vet Treatment where she got poked, prodded, and tested for everything. It was a hard time for her. And it was hard for us too -- so much worry.

On March 17 of 2012, the Knapps had JUST arrived the day before and we got to meet little Wylie.

Gosh, that nose. Just look at that nose.

On March 17th of 2011, we had the seriously cute Medley family in our care. Egads!

No kittens on March 17th in 2010, and Bean was BORED.  The Spooners had just left the week before, and the Lytteltons would move in one week later.

On March 17th of 2009, we had the Ashbys.  Milton, who was the biggest, was getting close to making weight!

On March 17th of 2008, we were midway through the Mayfield litter. Here's pensive little Porter.

This give me hope, folks. Historically, we usually have kittens in March, so hopefully we'll be seeing them SOON!

#40 Give Us a Big High-Five Hubie!

We've had many happy moments during our years of fundraising, but that first time when we hit the big $20 Squillion goal, well, that was pretty awesome.

#39  Happy Birthday Butterbean!

Another Butterbean birthday made the list! For her 4th, I put together a little Bean retrospective movie. I haven't watched this in a long time, so for me, it was really sweet to go back and look at these pictures from her first four years. Gosh, I love that girl.

#38  A Big Batch of Bean and Friends

More Bean on the list! Here's a collection of some of the sweet moments she's shared with the babies.  The last picture in the post shows Bean with our very first batch of foster kittens. You can see she took to her role as foster mom right away.

This image below just melts me. The kitten in the picture is one of the Mayfields, but I couldn't tell you which one.

And Away They Go....

DSC_0401

I'm starting to feel like a broken record, but once again we've found another kind, animal-loving family to adopt our kittens.    I'm always amazed how these awesome folks aways find their way to us.  This time, we can thank Kathleen at the Humane Society and Sue from Pitter Pats for directing them our way.   We are so very lucky.

And so are Sylvie and Wiley.

They left us on Friday afternoon, and are settling into their new lives with their new mom and dad, a (human) brother and sister, and a pair of dogs.    I know they'll do great there.  Their people are good, good people, the kids are great with the kittens, and the dogs have experience with cats.

Honestly, there's not much more to add to their story other than  "they lived happily ever after".   I know that is what their future holds.

Bye-bye little kittens.  How wonderful it's been getting to know you.   Be good.

Yes, Wiley.  I'm talking to you.

Knapp Vs Knapp

Here's a little pre-surgery day scrimmage between the Knapp boys.  I can't quite decide how to call the match. Wiley seemed to dominate most of it, but he just up and quit at the end.  So I guess Cecil is the winner?

I'll let you be the judge.

Fabulous Knapps

I know you're not going to like to hear this news, but today our dear little Knapps will be off at the vet getting their itty bitty bits fixed.    This, of course,  means they'll be departing soon.

I know.  It's gone so fast.  Really fast.   Faster than any litter of the past, in fact.

They didn't have too much growing to do when they arrived, and they were healthy and social,  so their stay with us is  a brief one.  I know you're all quite attached to this batch so it's going to be hard for all of us to say goodbye.

Every single moment has been golden, and it has been such a pleasure spending time with this special bunch.  Every second they've been here, I've felt loved by them.   They are awesome that way.

They're not out the door yet, so let's enjoy them while we can.    It's so easy to do.   They are fabulous.
