An Update on ALL Five Fellows!

We sure loved watching our Fellows grow and blossom while they were in our care.  They all found wonderful homes and their parents generously supplied with updates on all of their babies for me to share with you today!

First up is Seymour Fellows. You may recall he was adopted by Victoria and Ian, who also adopted Agnes Pettibone and Myra/Myron Ulysses Clover (who now goes by Dixie).  Vic provided us with an update on the whole crew!

Agnes Pettibone - 9 years old. Our resident "Lady of the House". She is sweet and dorky and shares a special bond with her human, Ian. She can be very flirtatious, especially with the gentlemen that come to visit. She prefers to chew the stringed part of any wand/feather toy. At Christmas time, she is the naughty one who won't leave the presents alone.

I have so many updates from our adopters, some of the posts are spilling into this week!

Dixie Clover - 2 years old. Our resident "Tomboy in Fancy Dress". You can't help but notice Dixie's amazing smokey belly fur and floofy tail. We had no idea when we brought her home that she would literally blossom into the beautiful fluffy cat she's become. She's playful. Loves to be held and carried around and has frequent conversations in a quiet little meow.

Seymour Fellows - 4.5 months. Our resident "Little Meezer Man". It feels like this most recent addition to our family has always been with us. This little cat is a lover with a wild streak that is highly entertaining. He is a confident little dude (thanks, to Laurie's care) who has captured our hearts. Especially, Dixie's heart.

We added Seymour because Dixie is still young and has an energy level that Agnes isn't always interested in matching. We added the new kitten with the hope that he would be a good playmate for Miss D. and,in turn, maybe free up Agnes to enjoy more uninterrupted naps. It could not have gone better. Every time I turn around, Dixie and Seymour are embracing for a cuddle/grooming fest or "wrassling" each other. The chase scenes are hilarious because of the difference in their sizes but Seymour is growing fast and our vet says he's likely to be a big a boy.

We have been so fortunate to have found our loves, these cats, (including Henry Pettibone) through The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee. Laurie is dear to us and we can't thank her enough. We're proud to be IBKC Alumns and love this community that cares for these and all cats.


 And up next, we've got Oakley and Robin from their mama, Andrea.


Here are a few brotherly love pictures. I only have cute sleeping photos because otherwise, they're in constant motion.

When their tummies are full in the morning they've both been climbing into my lap to help me watch the news and drink my coffee while they take the first nap of the day. Makes getting to work on time a tad bit challenging!

I'm now calling Oakley, Saul, and Robin, Louie, but you're welcome to use whichever names you like. :)

They are both doing great. The house is a veritable kitty play land, they checked out perfectly at the vet, and are both just love bugs when they aren't charging like the wind around the house.

And last but not least, we have an update on Maurice and Emmet!


Hi Laurie, Here's the latest on my two Fellows!

The boys just had their first road trip over the weekend. We went to Portland for a family get together. They mostly slept in the car - I only had to pull off the highway once to retrieve Emmet as he tested the limits of their car seat tether!

They visited a friend at her house, saw her cat Singer, and got loves from the humans. They stayed in their first hotel room and had so much fun exploring and playing that they were better behaved than I could have hoped. They spent their first night at my parents' house and met the fam. The last picture is the boys in the guest room, lounging.

Emmet and Maurice are growing like weeds! They are absolutely charming. Emmet is outgoing and fearless. He has figured out how to climb the kitchen cabinets using the drawer handles! Maurice was the first one to figure out the puzzle feeder. He can still be a bit shy, but he overcomes it more quickly with each new experience. He likes to sleep up high atop the cat tree. As Maurice's points have darkened, the stripes on his legs and some marking on his back have gotten more defined.

Both boys come when I call them (mostly). They are affectionate and playful, and so full of energy! We are now working on learning to walk on leashes.

I love them both so very much! Thought you might like to read about their progress and know they are thriving.

See You, Seymour!

You remember Victoria and Ian, don't you? They adopted Agnes and Henry Pettibone nine years ago. Sadly, Henry passed away a few years ago, then a year later they adopted Myron Clover, who we later discovered on surgery day that he was Myra Clover, who now goes by Dixie. Her adoption story is one of my favorites, so if you have a moment, please give it a read.

Though they love Agnes and Dixie with all their hearts, they've missed the boy kitty energy and love and decided they wanted to adopt a male kitten.  The girls get along well, but 2-year old Dixie wants to play more than 9-year old Agnes does, so they thought it might be a good time to bring in a youngin' to keep Dixie occupied.

When the Fellows arrived, Vic reached out to me, and we made a plan to have them down to meet the babies.  We had a nice long visit that day, and they were able to see the kittens in crazy-pants mode and mellow, sleepy kitten mode too.

Seymour captured their hearts with his spunk, sweetness, and adorableness that afternoon, and it was decided that he would be theirs. I was thrilled -- out of all the Five Fellows, he was the one that seemed best suited for their family.  He's a fun but easy guy who's always been respectful of the big cats. He could be a buddy to Dixie but not too pesky for Agnes.

They came down Friday for the adoption and on the way back to Seattle in busy afternoon I-5 traffic, had a little car trouble. They were rescued by a tow truck and eventually made their way home. Seymour was a trooper and wasn't even a wee bit stressed by the extra-long journey!

He's doing well, and they are absolutely head-over-heals in love with him.  I don't think he's been formally introduced to the big cats yet, but I'm positive he'll be well received!

Thank you, Vic and Ian, for adopting this sweet little dude. I wish you, Agnes, Dixie, and Seymour a very happy life together!

Alumni Update!!! Agnes Pettibone and Myron/Myra/Dixie Clover!

Eight years ago, Vic and Ian adopted a pair of Pettibones, Agnes and Henry.  As many of you recall, Henry passed, and after their hearts did some mending, Vic and Ian added Myron/Myra (now Dixie) Clover to their family. Dixie's adoption tale is truly one of my favorites, and you can ready it HERE.

It was a year ago that Dixie moved in, and it sounds as though they are all are doing just great!

Here's what Vic had to say:


Agnes Pettibone recently turned 8 years-old, we can hardly believe how quickly time passes. She is healthy and happy and stunningly beautiful. She remains playful, flirtatious and has embraced her role as tolerant big sister. She's not fooling anyone. She likes having a pesky little sister to play with, most of the time. Her favorite things are naps, snacks and squirrel watch. 

Dixie (nee Myron/Myra) Clover is 1 year-old. She is fluffy, sweet and hilarious. She adores her big sister. Dixie plays fetch, is an expert fly and spider killer and like to store her favorite toys in her water dish. She asks to be picked up and to be carried around on a shoulder, often times, for a good 30 minutes or more, purring the whole time. We are in awe of her smokey bits of fur. Her belly fur is long and grey and she has "mad professor" tufts behind each ear. Then there is that tail. It still seems disproportionately floofy to the rest of her. We love it. We love her. She's been the perfect addition to our family.

We are so proud and fortunate have had 3 IBKC alumni in our family. I am convinced that the love and care that IBKC kitens get during their time with Laurie, Charlene and Wylla prepares them to be happy, well-socialized, loving pets and cherished family members. 

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful girls with us today, Vic and Ian.  I know everyone will be so happy to see these two once again!  Many were curious to see how Dixie's unusual coat would develop  -- it sure is gorgeous!

Thanks for loving our IBKs so much! They're so lucky to have parents who adore them like you both do! Please give them both a few scritches from all of us.

Just as the Universe Planned

 It was quite a week for Myron/Myra Clover.  First, though she spent many weeks with us being called "Myron", we told her she was actually a girl. I'm guessing she knew this already, and was just waiting for us to figure it out, but still, it must have been a little confusing. THEN she got adopted and left our nest. That's a lot for a little kitten to digest!

But don't worry, everything is awesome.  You see, little Myron/Myra, who's now called Dixie Ulysses Clover, is kind of staying in the IBKC family. She got adopted by Victoria and Ian, who are Agnes Pettibone's parents!

You may remember the sadness last year when they lost their dear Henry Pettibone. They were waiting to heal a bit after their big loss and were finally feeling ready to bring a new little kitten into their lives.  Agnes was ready, too. She was showing signs that she could use a playmate, so when our Clovers moved in, Victoria sent me a note expressing interest.

The cat experts say that adopting a younger cat of the opposite sex is the best when bringing a second cat into your home, and because Agnes' happiness is very important to Ian and Vic,  they they were on the hunt for a dear boy kitty.

As soon as quarantine had passed, they came for a visit, and quickly fell head-over-heels in love with sweet Myron. His calmness and sweetness combined with the love and admiration he had for the older lady cats in our house made him the perfect candidate to be Agnes' new buddy.  It was decided that he would be theirs.



But the morning of the day he was to be adopted, we found out that Myron was a Myra. I knew they had their hearts set on a boy kitty, so once I learned this news, I was afraid it might spoil everything. I spoke with Vic,  told her the whole story and we had a good laugh on the phone. She had to discuss it all with Ian, and after she did, she called right back and said they wanted to proceed with the adoption as planned. They were too deep in love to turn back now!  I had a feeling it would all play out this way, but I have to admit I was a little nervous!

 It's funny, but without the little gender mix-up, there's a chance they wouldn't have considered this sweet little girl. Maybe the Universe threw this twist into the plan to make sure that Myron/Myra/Dixie Ulysses Clover found her way to Vic, Ian and Agnes.  Out of this litter, she really is the best match for their family.

So thank you, Universe, for stepping in! You always know what's best!

And thank you to Victoria and Ian for being so understanding! We are so delighted that you added Dixie to your family and we wish you all the best!

As promised, MORE PETTIBONES!  

Victoria, mama to Agnes and Henry (formerly Carmine) Pettibone, has an update to share with us!

Here's what mom has to say:

Agnes and Henry are 6-years old now but are still very youthful and kitten-like. Agnes gets more vocal and social with visitors every year. She can be a real chatterbox. Especially when she's feeling flirty, which we adore. She loves toys that are things on strings, only she's become so focused on chewing on the string rather than the sparkle ball attached to the string that she's earned the nickname "Flossie". Her dentist would be proud.

Henry is still as cool as a cucumber and he loves as hard as he plays. His current nicknames include, Captain Headbonk and Sugar Puss. He talks more now, too, but he still prefers to chirp. His chirping is almost like a constant narration or proclamation of his presence, so when he gives out one of his quiet little 'meows', it is super cute. He goes to bed with us every night and was so demanding for use of my pillow that we went to IKEA and bought him his own. He has more freckles on his nose.

They both still give little vampire bites when they want attention or when Ian comes home from the farm smelling "outdoorsy" or when he's been cooking outside.

I thank Laurie every day for bringing these special kitties into our lives. I can't imagine life without these sweet, smart Pettibones.

On the FUNdraising front, we're making some good progress on the match we've been chipping away at this morning, but we still have $1314 to go, and one and a half hours to get there!   And once we meet this match, we will roll past our $100 Squillion goal.

Hello, Pettibones!

If you've been following the IBKC for awhile, there's no doubt you remember the Pettibones. They were dear, sweet things and the litter was such a lovely mix of colors and personalities.

Agnes and Henry (formerly Carmine) were adopted by Victoria and Ian.  We've stayed in contact over the years,  and I can see these kittens are their pride and joy.

Here's little Agnes.

Here's a little bit about the Agnes of today.

Agnes such a sweetheart. When she's not napping, she's busy watching shadows, bird watching and chasing her brother at high speeds around the house. She is mostly shy when there are visitors but she always comes out to flirt with some of her favorite boyfriends. She is a very chatty girl, who enjoys playing games for cats on the iPad, offering up her belly for pets and we think she can tell time, especially around breakfast and dinner time. She loves giving a good hand bath and still doles out little vampire bites.



And here's  is a little bit about Henry.

 Henry has three settings; mischievous, love bug and sound asleep. All three are done with gusto. He lives to jump high in the air and catch (yes, catch) ping pong and sparkle balls. He enjoys enticing his sister into a game of chase and loves being playfully naughty. Henry loves to show off, banking off the furniture or pulling a Scooby-Doo (bunching up an area rug during a spazz-out). He still makes chirping noises when walking around and he puts us to bed and wakes us up every day with head bonks and purrs. He is always in the middle of everything. He is lovely!

Parting Ways with Two More Pettibones

Dear little Agnes and big boy Carmine left yesterday afternoon for their new homes. Yes! They are staying together!!!! Their new parents are good, good people and they are going to provide a wonderful life for these precious two.

You will all be thrilled to know that Agnes and Carmine (now know as Henry) have their own blog, so you'll be able to watch them continue to grow! AND you'll be able to follow Rosalie and Renatta, they have their own blog as well!

In other adoption news,,both Hiram and Mary Liza Fairchild have found their homes as well. Mary Liza has been adopted by Sue's sister. We're all happy she'll be staying in the family. She'll have a playful big brother to keep her company.

Hiram found a really awesome set of parents and he'll have a couple of slightly older siblings to play with. It sounds like his new home is pretty much kitty heaven on earth. Lucky boy!

I'll leave you with a few pictures of the final moments with the Agnes and Carmine. After they were tucked into their carrier, Alvie and Virgil scaled the side of it to say goodbye.
