It's the Great Pumpkin Charlene Butterbean!

Anything can be a toy, when you are a curious kitten. This is from last halloween. Ms Butterbean was only 7 months old.

Happy Halloween from the Itty Bitty Kitties ! Sorry, but Cornelius didn't want to cooperate for the photo shoot. He just wanted to chew on the pumpkin stem. I'll try to capture him later today and I'll post then. I wouldn't want our little black kitty to miss out on the halloween festivities!

Can You Guys Keep it Down Please... I've Got a Bit of a Headache...

DSC_2142.JPG
You hit the bottle pretty hard last night, maybe you have a bit of a milk hangover ?

Yes, Willamena is back on the bottle again. We had weaned all the kitties, but Willamena just wasn't gaining weight as quickly as the others, so we've been giving her a bottle every night. It seems to be really helping, she's plumped up a bit already.

She's still tiny in comparison to the others, but the difference isn't as extreme. Grow Willamena, grow!!

Sleeping Beauties

DSC_1198.JPG
Sue stopped by the other night ( with a delicious pie, I might add). We sat for a while in the living room and watched the kitties sleep. They were all piled up, using each other's bellies as pillows. We decided that you can easily spend just as much time watching kitties sleep, as you do watching them play. It really is equally fascinating. You can convince yourself that you will get back to work as soon as the kittens are napping, but you know you will end up watching them doze for at least a few minutes.

Here is a collection of sleeping beauties from all of our foster batches.

Nobody is Perfect

DSC_2177.JPG
Cornelius is so sweet and polite. It takes but a second to fall in love with this darling little boy. He'll gladly spend an hour or two sleeping on your belly, keeping you warm. He'll start purring the moment you touch him. Then he'll give you a glance that says "thank you, how kind of you to pet me".

He's pretty much perfection... except for one thing... let me explain.

The other day Kim came over to hang with the kitties. While we were sitting there, Cornelius hopped into his litter box to take care of business. He sat there for a moment and then he let out the tiniest little toot. Yes, Cornelius farted ! I have spent a fair amount of time around kittens and cats but I have NEVER heard any cat cut one. The funniest part of it was that he looked embarrassed after he did it. Oh how we laughed.

Find Three Kitties in this Picture

I thought I was taking a photo of just Lottie and Maddie on the couch. When I downloaded the picture, I discovered Cornelius lurking in the shadows. You can barely see his little peeps peeking out.

They Call Him the Cat Whisperer

DSC_2007.JPG

DSC_2016.JPG
The kitties spent a lot of time hanging out on, or near my dad. They loved using his feet and legs as a jungle gym. They loved napping on him too. Who knew my dad was such a cat magnet? Speaking of magnets, Ms Willamena seems to be stuck to my dad's shoe. ( see video below). That's my mom laughing in the background.

My folks both seemed to really enjoy spending time with the IBKC. A bulk of their vacation was spent watching the kittens play. I don't think either of them were bored for a single second. I would even go as far to say that they were completely infatuated with the kitties. In the car, on the way to the airport this morning Mom asked Dad if he remembered to say goodbye to the kitties. Of course he said yes. They are well on their way to becoming "cat people". Maybe my next visit home, I'll bring them a kitten.

Hop on Pop

That little Willamena just climbed right up and perched herself on my Dad's shoulder. As you can see, he didn't seem to mind much at all.

Wee Willamena

willamena on mom's foot
Within seconds of meeting my parents, Willamena ran over and planted her little booty right on top of my Mom's foot. Within seconds of meeting the kitties, my parents were completely smitten. No surprise, all humans are powerless against the charms of this quartet.

Later that morning, Miss Willamena mistook my mom's suitcase for a litter box. She was quickly forgiven. How could you possibly be angry at one of these wee ones, even if they went wee on your nightgown.

I saw my dad kiss a kitten and I have a photo to prove it. I will post the photo if I get his permission. Or I will post it without his permission, after they leave on Monday.

Cat People

My folks are coming today for a visit. They will be staying with us for six days. They are dog people, and have been that way pretty much all of their lives. With the help of the IBKC we will attempt to turn them into cat people. I really do think cats are better pets for them, considering their life style. So come on kitties,,, do what you do best,,, let's charm the pants off Dave and Sharon. As you can see, Lottie is up for the challenge.

That Maddie,, she's a gal on the go, so she's hard to catch with the camera. Thankfully, she slowed down just long enough to get a couple of pictures for the blog. She's such a little beauty, isn't she? Such a little love bug too.

Once Upon a Time...

springtime charlene

Here are a couple of pictures of Charlene Butterbean in her itty bitty kitty days. As you may know, she was fostered by Kim and her roommate at the time, Sarah. She was my introduction to the world of foster kittens. Charlene was only a couple of days old when we met her, and by far the itty bittiest kitty I have seen. She was about 5 weeks in these photos. It's hard to believe she was ever that small. She's such a giant in comparison to our current IBKC.

Dear One

DSC_1532.JPG

Cornelius is such a sweet, sweet boy. He just radiates love. I wish you all could spend a moment with him in your arms so you could feel it too. He'll turn you to mush in a moment.

She Loves Them So

DSC_1390.JPG
Charlene loves the foster babies so, so much. They love her too, especially Maddie.

I was watching her play with them today. The itty bitties were doing their slow, low, belly crawl followed by a pounce towards Charlene. She pretended to be startled by them and would do an exaggerated leap into the air. She let the kittens chase her through the house, going just fast enough to keep ahead of them, but not so fast they would feel defeated. Maybe I am reading too much into her actions, but it really did seem as though these were self-esteem boosting exercises for the kitties. It's kind of like how my grandpa would let me win at checkers, even though he could beat me with his eyes closed.

Charlene is the best big sister to these babies. I am so proud of my girl !
