Nice to See You Again!!

A huge thanks to Emily for sending the pic and update! It's so nice to "see" Tressa and Neville again!

It's clear these two are so happy to be together! I love how Tressa's got her arms on her brother's shoulders.

It sounds as though Miss Tressa was a bit of a shy little girl at first, but now she's totally warmed up and has become a COMPLETE sweetheart!

Neville adjusted a little faster, and now has transformed into a little troublemaker. He loves to pounce on unsuspecting sleeping feet. (I seem to recall Harlan and Nelson's Pa reporting similar bad habits,,,it must be genetic) When he's not too busy, he loves getting a little love.

He still likes to ride on shoulders. He'll wait on the couch or bed. When you come close, he'll paw the ground and look up at you, then climb up your body and perch on your shoulders.

Thanks again, Emily. It's always nice to catch up with the kittens!!

EIGHT SQUILLION!!!

EEEEEEEEEK!!!! WE DID IT!

Thanks to YOU!!!!!

xoxoxo

PS Neville and Tressa to follow shortly.

Live From the IBKC Fundraiser! Featuring the Peabodys!

The Peabodys (of Pitter Pats fame) volunteered to take over the phones for a spell and give The Darlings a little break. The lovely and enchanting Bridget Peabody is working the tote board. How are we doing, Bridget?

Well, things are going great! We're just about $700 away from meeting our goal of $8000! I wouldn't be surprised at all if we hit our target today, and had to raise our goal AGAIN! Malcolm, how are things going over there in the phone banks?
DSC_0512
The phones have been ringing off the hooks here this morning. Fluffy McPants from Walla Walla just made a pledge of $25.... Mr Mittens from Sheboygan just donated $50 and Princess... oh, she just called to find out if I was available. Wasn't sure if she meant available as in "adoptable" or as in "single" either way,, it's a yes. Now,, over to you, Raymond...
DSC_0543
Thank you, Malcolm. You're doing a great job over there. Nice tux, by the way. We look like a couple of prom dates...

OK,, now seriously folks,,, I just wanted to let you know that as soon as we reach our $8000 goal, we've got a special treat for all of you out there in IBKC land. We've got an update and very sweet picture of IBKC alums, Tressa and Neville Lovejoy, which we will be posting as soon as we hit the mark! Now how's that for a little incentive?

Thanks to all of you for helping us reach our goal!

Sending Lots of Love and Hugs Your Way

DSC_0127.JPG

It seems in recent days, so many people in our Itty Bitty Kitty community have experienced the loss a loved one.

I wish I could box up these Darling kittens and send them to you. I know if you held one, you would feel better, at least for that moment.

Take good care, friends. We're thinking about you.

Twice is Nice

DSC_0759.JPG

I've noticed a handful of you making second (and third, even!) pledges. I just wanted to give an extra thank you to those folks.

Thank you. Thank you.

Honestly people, I know I keep saying it, but your support just means so much to me. When I look at that the tally,, and read all the comments,,it just gets me all weepy-eyed.

You're amazing. Thanks for being here. And thanks for caring SO much.

A Message from Hubie

DSC_0787.JPG

Hi Everyone,, Hubie here. It's Friday, which means we get our weekly allowance. We earn it by helping out around the house. We pick up our toys, we chase out the dust bunnies from beneath the furniture and sometimes we even help fold laundry.

Normally I blow my entire allowance on toys and treats, but this week I'm going to put it to better use. I've decided to donate it to the IBKC Fundraiser for our Humane Society.

I really don't need any new toys. We haven't chewed off the tails of our furry mice yet. If mom pulls out the refrigerator, I bet we would find at least a dozen mylar balls under there.

And I really don't need any treats. Have you seen my belly lately? It's so round. All the dots on my belly have turned to dashes!

I know my donation is small, but every bit helps. And there are lots of kittens down at the shelter right now that need our help.

I think humans get paid on Fridays too. Maybe you could donate a little to the Humane Society instead of spending it all on toys and treats this weekend? Just a thought.

Lots of love,,

IBK Hubie

Poor little kitties went in for the vaccines, micro-chipping and blood draws yesterday. They were all very, very good, but it sure did wipe them out.

When the kittens are super rowdy, it can get to be too much for Charlene. She tries to keep her eyes on everyone, but it's so hard to do when everyone is zipping about (and you're a tad cross-eyed). To get a better view, she'll move to higher ground, and watch the show from above.

I love the intensity in her face. She takes her kitten-watching duties quite seriously.

Good afternoon, folks. Thanks to mentions in Snuzzy, Cute Overload and LOL Cats, we've had a LOT of new people visiting the blog. I just wanted to say hello and thank you all for coming by. In case you haven't figured out who's who yet, I thought I would re-introduce our current litter of kittens, The Darlings.

COME ON HUBIE. You're not supposed to be tying up the phone lines with calls from your girlfriends.

AND you're not supposed to be napping until after your shift ends. DSC_0104.JPG
Selma, you've been working hard. Why don't I take over the lines while you take a break. Francine,, you just sit there and look pretty. Hubie... back to work.Rrrrriiiiinnnnnnnng.

Little Lucinda...

... isn't so little anymore. All the kittens are growing fast, but she's got them all beat by a good four ounces. She'll be the first to meet the two pound mark.

Kitten Curtain Hammock

Such smart kittens they are. They managed to create a little hammock out of our livingroom drapes!

WOW! Wow, Wow, WOW!

Well, thanks to all of you we have hit the $5000 mark! And that's in just 10 days of campaigning!

YOU ALL ARE SERIOUSLY AMAZING.

Thanks SO MUCH to all of you who made donations. Thanks too for spreading the word by twittering, posting on your blogs and emailing your friends.

I am SO TOUCHED by the tremendous support you have shown.

Last night we all celebrated reaching our $5000 goal. It was a rowdy night: lots of dancing, whooo-hooooin', and catnip! I briefly discussed a new goal with the Bean-Counter. In her catnip-induced buzz, she suggested raising the bar 8 squillion.

I tried to talk to Charlene about the goal again this morning. She's a little hung-over, and a whole lot of grumpy. She lifted the icepack off her head for a moment and muttered "how about 8 thousand instead".

OK, Charlene. $8,000 it is. With over a month to go until the Dog-A-Thon, I think we can do it. And The Darlings think so too. They're just finishing up their breakfast, then they are off to the phone banks.

Things are Looking Up!

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Look how close we're getting to our goal of $5000! EEEEEK!

Maybe 5 squillion wasn't so far out of our reach!

What's All the Excitement About??

This weekend, the Darlings met a Dulcey, a sweet, well-mannered little pooch who belongs to my friend, Sarah. Dulcey was quite happy to meet the kittens, but the kittens were not so thrilled.

Hubey got the most worked up. He was a hissing little mister.

Rhoda and Lucinda kept a safe distance, hid behind their fierce brother, and did a little hissing too.

Selma was curious and came a little closer to investigate this giant beast. She poofed up and nearly doubled in size when Dulcey began wiggling with excitement.

Francine barely even noticed Dulcey was here. She just curled up on the couch and napped.

All of The Darlings settled down eventually, but slept with one eye open for the duration of the visit.
