It was really fun going through all the pictures from the year and selecting one of each kitten for today's post. I enjoyed reflecting on each of our babies during this process.

What a wonderful year it's been. I feel so lucky having all of these lovely kittens as a part of our lives. Each one was so precious and fabulous in their own special way. It was an amazing experience watching them grow and seeing their personalities develop. They made us laugh many, many times. We were touched by their sweetness. They enriched our lives so much.

It's been a pleasure getting to know all of you as well. We appreciate you always being there and loving these babies from afar. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I want to wish you all the best for 2008. I hope your year is bright and filled with lots of love, happiness, and good health.

The Lottie Report

stella stoli 003

stella stoli 002

It sounds like little Miss Lottie ( who's now known as Stella) is doing really well in her new home and is getting along great with her new brother. I just got an email, along with these pictures, from her new mama. I can't believe how long she looks in the pictures. She's growing like a weed!

Here's what Mama Marni had to say :

Ok- I think you sold me a bonzi-flying-monkey!! I'd love to send more photos, but she hardly stands still!!
She is doing great- there was a little hissing on Friday night and Saturday morning by Saturday afternoon, Stoli was following her around the house and chatting with her, I think more to make sure she didnt break anything!!!
Shes exactly what I was looking for. OK, except she is a bit gassy for a cute little girl, and it is a surprise to wake up while shes putting her little nose up mine, and then chews on my eyebrows but she is darling!!

Queen of the Couch

DSC_2130.JPG
Now that the kitties have left, former queen of the couch, Drewey, has reclaimed her thrown and is enjoying a little peace and quiet.

Sadly, not for long.

Jake Update

Here's what my Pop had to say about their pup:

Well, Jake did not pass his blood test this AM and the DVMs advised that we should postpone surgery. His white blood cell count indicated an infection. We will have him on antibiotics for two weeks and then give it another try. They partially shaved his leg to formulate a plan of attack on removing the tumor and grafting the skin. Consequently he looks really weird with the “skinny” shaved leg and the golf ball sized tumor next to the big fuzzy leg. Jake is still pretty stressed from his visit and won’t let us leave the room without a mournful wail.

It is nice to have him home and doing well, but we will all go through the same thing in two weeks. We all are exhausted from the short night and stress of the morning. Time for a nap!

My folks wanted to thank all of you for your support, thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to them.

Well Wishes and Good Thoughts

DSC_2117.JPG

DSC_2100.JPG
Ms Charlene Butterbean wanted to show you her new christmas collar. As you can see, she's awfully proud of it. She also wanted to wish you all the happiest of holidays. I do too. We hope you are all spending today with all the people (and pets) you love most in your life. We hope you are all happy and healthy. We hope you found your heart's desire beneath your Christmas tree.

I would like to ask a itty-bitty favor of you. My parents ( and VERY loyal IBKC followers), have a wonderful pooch named Jake. They ADORE their boy. Jake has a tumor that's been growing rapidly on his leg, and tomorrow he is going in for surgery. I know they are both spending their holiday worrying about him and what will happen tomorrow. It breaks my heart that their Christmas day isn't going to be all about joy and happiness. So if you could, think good thoughts for Jake. I know it would make my parents feel better if all of your were rooting for their boy.

Thank you everyone!

Have a wonderful, wonderful day. WE LOVE YOU !!!

Kitty Profile: Tink

tink
Name: Tink
Nickname: Tinky, Tink-a-Link
Describe yourself in 20 words or less: Classically cute and sweet as cotton candy.
What are your hobbies? I like quiet evenings at home, classical music, and generous bouts of snorgling.
Favorite toy: I like those things that you pull off the top of the frozen orange juice cans. They curl up nicely and you can really get ‘em airborne!
Dislikes: The very idea of having a bad day. I am blissfully happy all the time. No kidding
Dream-home: A house full of lips for kissing.
An interesting fact about me: I look just like my brother Shermie, but without those silly nose dots. Can you believe those things?
Minor Imperfection: I’m one of those girls your mama warned you about. I love to make out. And I don’t discriminate.
Why should you adopt me? I am chock full of love. I think that you are too. We’d make a nice couple.

Kitty Profile: Jeanne-Marie

jeanne-marie
Name:Jeanne-Marie
Nickname: I prefer my full given name. It’s pretty.
Describe yourself in 20 words or less: I have the best little eyes ever. I’ll lie on your chest so you can gaze at them up close.
What are your hobbies? Hypnosis is my specialty.
Favorite toy: Anything with a feather, please.
Dislikes: I’m not a big fan of sudden noises. But I recover quickly.
Dream-home: Me and you and another kitty for us to play with. Won’t it be fun?
An interesting fact about me: My purr switch is activated when my feet leave the floor. Please act accordingly.
Minor Imperfection: You may never want to leave the house.
Why should you adopt me? I was a teeny-tiny and have worked very hard to be a round-bellied, healthy girl. I’d like to be loved and doted on so that I might maintain this fabulous figure it took so long to achieve.

(Thanks goes to Mama Sue for writing up her bio ! )

Goodbye Kitties

DSC_1048.JPG
Willamena and Lottie spent their last five days together, happy, playful, and side by side. They seemed unfazed by the earlier departure of their siblings, Maddie and Cornelius. Both girls recovered nicely from their surgery, and were looking quite healthy. They packed on the ounces this past week. Willamena's tiny-hiney finally caught up with her round belly. Lottie filled out, and her legs grew a little longer.

We scheduled their departure ( along with Ramona from the original six pack of cats) for Friday, so they would have the weekend and holiday to get comfortable with their new homes, parents and siblings.

Lottie was first. Her wonderful new mama, Marni, arrived that afternoon. While the appropriate paperwork was filled out, Willamena and Lottie wrestled and romped and Charlene supervised. They were all very curious about the kitty carrier Marni had brought. They took turns smelling it, chewing on it, or climbing in or on top of it . We talked while the kitties played, then we said our good-byes. Marni left and loaded little Lottie into the car. Big-eared, big-eyed Willamena climbed up into the window and watched the whole scene. Anyone sitting in the room then, if they hadn't already , started tearing up at that moment. . It was heart wrenching to witness Willamena watching her sister leave.

Lottie will be living in a condo in North Seattle, with her new big brother, Stoli. She'll be a strictly in-door kitty ( hooray). Stoli lost his older brother in November. He's been hoping for a new companion ever since. I'm sure they'll do fine together. Lottie is used to being around other kitties and cats and he is ready for a playmate. Sounds like a perfect match.

Ramona was adopted later that evening. Patrick and Sarah are the lucky ones who got to bring her home. She too will have a big brother. And when I say big, I mean 16 pounds ! Before leaving, Ramona got a few pearls of wisdom from Charlene on the subject of "how handle a cat that is larger, and hairier than you".

DSC_2047.JPG
We were just finishing up with Ramona, when Willamena's new parents arrived. A third round of adoption papers were filled out. Willamena was passed around for kisses and good-byes, then she was gone too.

Willamena is a very lucky girl. She now has two daddies ! One works for a modeling agency, the other is a child therapist and works with foster children. Can you imagine a more perfect combo for our super-model kitty? One dad to manage her career, the other to help her cope with trials and tribulations of being a child star. Like Lottie, she too will be living in Seattle in a condo. She'll have two new brothers and a new name. "Yubi" which is japanese for "thumbs" will be her first name and Willamena will be her middle name.

What a day! After all the adoptions were complete, and everyone left, we mixed cocktails . We toasted to the kitties and their bright futures. They all have such wonderful homes. They will all be adored. Mission accomplished!

The Last Day with the Girly-Girls

DSC_1644.JPG
Yesterday was our last day with Lottie and Willamena. I'll tell you the whole story in days to come. We're all a little drained after saying goodbye so many times this week. I don't think I have the energy to tell the tale right this second. For now, I'll share with you some pictures of their last day. I love how girly they look on the pink bedspread. ( which was a gift from Sue. Thanks again Sue!)

Willamena and Lottie really seemed to be savoring the last moments they had together. They stayed very close to each other all day long.

Kitty Profile: Phyllis

DSC_1350.JPG

DSC_1346.JPG
Name: Phyllis
Nickname: Philly, Philly Cheesesteak
Describe yourself in 20 words or less: Poofy, poofy, poofy. With a Raggedy Ann doll nose. I’ve been told I should be wearing a tiara.
What are your hobbies? I think I’m a big kitty and like to hang out with my grown up foster siblings. I’m also a skilled galloper. You can hear me at about 10:00 every night.
Favorite toy: Something round and fuzzy that I can prance around with in my mouth. (I’m also an excellent prancer.)
Dislikes: People who think that beauty is only skin deep. Not!
Dream-home: Lots of room to show off my “gettin’ around” skills. And a spot of sunshine to nap in.
An interesting fact about me: I purr on contact. Eye contact.
Minor Imperfection: If you gaze at me for too long, you will find yourself completely overcome with the cuteness. Take the rest of the day off to recover.
Why should you adopt me? Because you need a little glamour in your life. Besides, should you ever find yourself without one, I double quite nicely as a powder puff.

If this kitten is your heart's desire, let me know and I'll connect you with her foster parents.
