The Perfect Pairing

DSC_7897

When Hurley Huddleston's adoption fell through at the last minute, and we were scrambling to find him a home, Andrea contacted me expressing interest in the boy.  She sounded like she could offer a wonderful home to a kitten, but someone else had reached out to me first, and they adopted dear Hurley.

I told her there would be more kittens soon, and once our Five Fellows arrived, she came over and met the crew.

As I mentioned in Maurice and Emmet's adoption tale, I normally don't interject my opinion unless asked when folks are picking out their kittens.  But with this special bunch, I did offer some pairing suggestions.  Andrea and I discussed in great detail each possible set, and she decided that Robin and Oakley would be her choice.

I was thrilled with her selection! Robin and Oakley wrestle in the same weight class and have always enjoyed a tussle together.  Also, Robin being the outgoing Fellow that he is, would be the perfect mate for his introverted brother.

The boys had some growing to do, and though the wait was excruciating for Andrea,  it gave Oakley a little more time to come out of his shell.  In his last few days with us, we saw some big changes in his personality, and suddenly this boy who was always dashing to the shadows was out in the world! He was comfortable, purring, and belly-up!  I'm so proud of this progress he made.

Does THIS look like a scaredy-kitten?  Nope.

Andrea is a kind and loving human who lives a quiet life. I know the home she's offering sweet Oakley and Robin is the perfect one for them.  She'll be patient through their transition, which is exactly what they need.

We always find such good people to adopt our kittens -- we're so lucky that way.   I am so thankful that the families that adopted this round of kittens presented themselves when they did --- I don't think we could have possibly made more perfect matches than this

The babies landed exactly where they were supposed to land -- in the arms of some very nice people who will nurture and love them forever.

I am so very grateful.

  4. A perfect pairing indeed. So glad Oakley has found his bravery, and (sigh) I will miss little teapot Robin so very much—but am happy to know he has a loving home.
