I Don't Know!

I took a look back at all of the Fishkin pics I shot while they were with us. I thought that after spending more time with them and getting to know the kittens better, it would have gotten easier to tell them apart in those early photos.

As it turns out, it still is just as challenging!

I suppose it doesn't really matter who was who in the photographs.

In reality, it mattered.

We needed to know so we could monitor their health and make note of whose eye was runny or whose nose was crusty as they healed from their URIs. That, we were able to do -- mostly because of their size difference and Sid's bushier tail.

Still, it does bother me a wee bit that I can't properly identify our foster babies in the photographs.   I'm just going to have to let that one go.

I am, however,  100% sure I can identify them in these two early photos -- after I took them I made a mental note of who was who.   That's Sidney in the top photo and Mose is below.

OK, I'm 98% sure.

How about you?  Did you figure out who was who or did you struggle during their whole chapter with us?

Tune in tomorrow for the Fishkin's adoption tale!

  1. I'd say I was right 60% of the time. Mose seems to be a serious dude in the photos, much bigger eyes. In any case, these fierce black bears have been a delight to watch.

  2. I could only tell if both tails were in evidence!

    1. What AnaliaRose said, and yes, I feel slightly bad about that. But what can one do with tiny twin bear cubs. Sorry, dear boys.

    2. Agreed! The tails were the only way I could do it. Sorry, sweet boys!

  3. You are writing in the past tense.....so the panthers have moved on. One very lucky family, assuming they went together. :)

  4. I know how this may sound, but I didn't care. I saw two cute kittens playing and growing in a loving foster home, they best foster home they could want, until they were big enough to get adopted. That's what mattered. Maybe their new pawents can get a chip reader so they can scan the boys when they need to. :)

  5. I didn't know they left the nest! It happened too fast.

  6. The Fishkin chapter has gone by so fast! I look forward to the happy ending.

  7. Tails were the tip. They had no white bits of fluff which is my usual technique for black kitty sorting

  8. Feeling a little weepy that these two darlings have left. I know that they are going on to happy lives in a well-chosen forever home, but I'll miss your regular updates of their nearly identical kitten antics. I have a special love for black kitties, and the Fishkins really stole my heart.

  9. Nope, I never did figure it out. Very much enjoyed watching them, though!

  10. I never could tell them apart. I foster a lot of black kittens and I had to get velcro collars in different colors so I could tell them apart.

  11. Never figured it out, except for that one post where you posted many pictures and named them (I would have guessed Sid and Mose here too, Sid always seemed to be a little slimmer, except for that tail!). Eventually I stopped trying and just adored a pair of twin shadows bouncing around :)

  12. Fingernail polish on a few back toenails of just one cat helps identify who is who. Gail

  13. I never tried to figure it out. I was just happy to see two happy, healthy and playful little kittens being loved and being readied to be adopted and loved even more.
