Naked Tabby Bellies!

DSC_0621

As I've expressed many times before, one of my favorite things in the in the whole wide world is spotted tabby bellies.

And you know what's even cuter than that?  NAKED spotted tabby bellies.

The Framboises discovered that the toy basket, which is near a heat vent and under a floor lamp, is a most excellent place to play and/or nap.  I found them rolling around in there belly-up,  so I look a few photos so you could see these fabulous, naked, spotted bellies.

Aren't they just amazing? Lots and lots of dots!

Did you notice their little spay/neuter tattoos?

That's Posey's belly above, and Enzo's below.

They're all recovering so well -- their incisions (what I can see of them -- they are so tiny!) are looking great.

I'm happy to report we did not blow away last night  We got some good rain and it's blustery today, but now they're saying the big winds will be happening Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning.  My folks are coming for a visit and arrive Saturday evening. We sure do hope things pass before they are scheduled to arrive!   Fingers are crossed!

Have a great weekend, everyone!   And Northwesterners, do hold on!

  1. I wonder how they shave their bellied without hurting their tense nipples!

    1. The comb on the clippers is high enough the nipples are pretty safe and the techs doing the clipping have done many surgical clips, so they know how to make sure there are still six nipples present when they're done. Accidental nipplectomies do end up being performed despite efforts to avoid them, and studies have found cats who underwent this procedure were equally as likely to shred the hand of a human who tried to pet their belly as a cat who had not undergone the procedure.

    2. Yep, my cat has all his nipples but I have to count fingers if I ever get lower than his mid chest for a rub

  2. Love Enzo's goofy little smile in the early pics and the last pic, and the belly spots are adorbs! Hope all will continue to be safe and sound in the storms.

  3. One can NEVER have too much of Spotted Tabby Bellies. Never. And such smart kittens to find the heating vent AND lamp to warm those spots up.

Hoping your folks have a safe trip West.

  7. Enzo looks SO blissed out in the last photo. I'll have some of whatever put that smile on his face. XD I've never seen the bellies shaved on male cats prior to neutering before. Does it have to do with age and when the testicles descend?

  10. I've not seen neuter tattoo before. I will ask at our local SPCA when I am next picking up a batch of kittens to foster. I'm guessing because we don't do TNR, this is not part of the routine (our native birds can not defend themselves against cats so true ferals sadly have to be destroyed. We often get kittens from feral mamas taken quite young for fostering)

    1. At our shelter, TNR (community) cats have their ears tipped. Cats and kittens spayed or neutered for adoption get tattooed. It breaks my heart knowing that community cats are still being euthanized. Our shelter's TNR efforts have had such positive results -- colony populations are decreasing and the number of kittens coming into the shelter each season are going down as well. http://www.alleycat.org

    2. Sadly, when you remove a feral colony from an area, you've opened it up for another group of ferals to move in, and on goes the cycle. xp I totally understand the danger, leaving a colony intact, if local birds can't defend themselves and are proverbial sitting ducks. Are they flightless, or otherwise unable to escape danger?

  11. Okay, the jig is up. These *cannot possibly* be actual kittens, because no real animal could ever be that preternaturally adorable.

In other words, ZOMG TINEE TABBEEE TUMMEEEEZ!
