Our Fifteen Floofiest Foster Kittens

Judging by the reactions we get whenever we introduce a floofy foster kitten,  it's clear you're fans of the very hairy. I thought it might be fun to put together a list of our favorites,  so I spent some time digging through the archives and found our fifteen floofiest foster kittens!

Here they are in no particular order...

1. Rex Von Trout

2.  Orson Davenport

  1. They're all adorable, but the backlit photo is amazing! That's the way to really show the floof.

  2. Are there kitten/adult "before and after" floofiness update photos? :)

  3. Wylla takes the cake for being the floofiest -- but it really isn't fair for the Committee to pick just one because all of the itty bitties pictured are adorable in all their floof !!

  4. Hope you'll someday do a short-sleek-shiny batch, for those of us who like shorthaired kitties best. Hubby's/my bias would not prevent us from adopting a fuzzball-- we had in 2010 in fact decided to adopt an adult one from the Shelter, for example, but I got there right after the E-team had just been there and put her down (as happened a lot in that very overcrowded summer, especially to brown tigers, which she was) (and it was devastating to me, especially as I had been working with her in the Cat Sick Room), and then recently it looked like our new Unexpected Baby (the infant brown tiger dumped out here at our house in late November)was going to be longhaired and we didn't let that figure into our decision to keep him. But we do like shorthairs best in the abstract, and I don't think we are the only ones by any means. They are so extra-graceful in motion, as well as being so sleek/shiny. And I think sometimes they need some extra PR, since not everyone thinks of them when searching in shelters or picking from a litter. So I hope you'll highlight them too someday.

All that said, these fuzzballs are of course very, very cute!-- from Arowyn

    1. I have to say, my one shorthair is neither sleek nor shiny. She is matte, cow-spotted, and slightly football-shaped (this last thing could be my fault). And I love her just as much as my two floofy boys. Shorties are winners too!

    2. How about a lookalikes collection? You've had a few of those, right? My boys are 11 and people still can't tell them apart!

  5. I happen to be wearing my Rex Von Trout kitty pin today!

There isn't really a way to choose one favorite floofy kitten though.

  6. Isn't it a wonderful world to have experienced so many sweet babies! They're all my favorite!

  7. All are adorable, but Wylla is the absolute floofiest.

  8. I'm a bit biased toward kenneth wiggins

  9. Beside Charlene? Kenneth!!!!
Then my 2 Maine Coons, Reilly & Sprite.
    Can we have Tabbies next?

    1. All of the floofies pictured are adorable, of course, but I'll second the vote for a future tabby group as well. I'm biased towards brown tabbies, which is what LG is, but I like 'em all. :-)

  10. Those fifteen have given me something to smile about all day! More retrospectives, please!

  11. I love Wylla's goofy kitten face, but the picture of Linus at the window slays me every time!

I'd love to see them all now and hear their stories!

  12. I love the heck out of Linus and Aloysius and Wylla, but as I missed Orson the first time around, I am newly in love.

  13. Nigel will forever have my heart!

  14. This reminds me of that one article going around about a sheep who escaped, then was found again years later with 60 pounds of wool in his coat!

  15. "Frodo...I am Arwen...." says Rex Von Trout.

(Maybe you could put up a picture and have a captioning contest every once in awhile?)--from Arowyn

  16. Wylla of course will always be my favorite special little girl !!! Linus in the window and Rex with his halo of sunshine come a close second.

  17. I'll always have a soft spot for Francine Darling.

  18. My very favorite kitten is Geraldine Dearborn, so I was delighted to see her in the mix. Linus Medley is also wonderful, but my third favorite floofball is Royal Tipton.

I can't choose. It's like being asked who is your favorite (cat, child, dog, etc.).

All your charges are the best.

  20. I always had a soft spot for Monroe Trimble.

  21. What a silly question when you have Wylla in the offing. Wylla of course followed by all of them, they are all just too cute to choose between them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, Ms Wylla is the favorite, of course..but a very close second is Linus, especially the picture of him peering under the door.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Langston was my favorite floofer. Aside from Wylla.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am surprised that Fergus Mayfield did not make the list!
Though his floof was rather wispy, compared to the plushess of these 15.

Other future "reviews" could be Blues, Cow kitties, look-alikes, acrobats....more cats in glasses.

  25. Need you ask? Why it's Wylla, dear girl! We have watched her grow up and get better but the others have given her a run for her money! BTW, this is much better than voting in the primaries...

    ReplyDelete
  26. This is the cutest, floofiest post!! Wylla is my classic floof fave, but Vancie and Lucille are my recent faves!

    ReplyDelete
  27. The backlighting on little Rex!! That is clearly the way to go. Spectacular.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It was a delight to see them all again, including sweet "Say it loud, say it proud - GEREALDINE!" She always makes me smile.

    ReplyDelete
  29. If the adopter of Geraldine Dearborn reads this blog....I would love to see what she looks like now.

That picture of Linus Medley, to this day, kills me dead. I want to squeeze and smooch him!!!

  30. Orson Davenport stole my heart years ago, but little Linus Medley and his tiny tail is a strong contender too. The nice thing about kittens is that they can all be my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  31. We need an update on Vancle Plunkett on his amazing smoking coat, I'd love to see how it's changed as he's grown up!

    ReplyDelete
  32. they are all so very cute, thank you for making me smile. i must say that image of Linus will stay with me all day!

  33. Oooh, I love greatest hits posts!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh, Linus Medley! "Hello world--let me love you!" All the IBKC kitties are the cutest, but this photo of Linus is just extra precious.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have always loved Linus, but Wylla just takes the cake, with her floofy goofy face and her cankles!!
