Cutest Little Home Wrecker

I'm always trying to make  Craig watch videos of the cats.  He objects because he sees the live version of the cats every single day and feels there's no need to see any replays.

But I insisted he watch this.

And I don't think he minded because HIS CAT IS SO FUNNY!  And when you watch this you'll see the Higgenbottoms thinks she's funny too!

She doesn't chew on cardboard all the time, but when she does, she's pretty manic about it. Don't worry, she spits the bits out. She just seems to enjoy the act of destruction -- she's not interested in eating it.

Oh, you're a weird one, Wylla Stout.

Thanks so much to all who placed an order from our shop yesterday!  I took a load of orders to the post office yesterday afternoon and packed up the rest last night. They'll go out this morning as soon as I post this post and get to the post office!

The big sellers so far are the Cute Couples set. A lot of you bought our pin sets, too! We appreciate your support so much!

  1. She had to enlarge- the house wasn't growing fast enough to keep up with her head. I once did that to a whole row of windows- but not with my teeth. Well done, genius kitty. That's one way to get it done.

    1. I was thinking the same thing, Lynn! Wylla is a growing kitty now that she's healthy.

  2. One of our cats (Snuggles) does exactly the same thing - rip and spit! It's good to know he's not the only one.

    1. Haha - very relatable. Our ginger Norwegian does exactly that, Amy! And she taught our latest cat-member too...

  3. Perhaps scented markers were used to draw the window sashings? My son's set were all fruity as I recall. Do they make fish and meat markers?

  4. I think the fangs breaking through the cardboard layers is the feline equivalent of a human popping bubble wrap.

    1. ooo, I like this comparison! As a cat, it MUST feel good to sink your fangs into something now and again.

    2. I think you are on to something here.

  5. Clearly the window and door just weren't large enough for her floofiness. I love Miss Wylla :-)

  6. I love the HIS cat comment... I do the same thing when our cats our weird. Their my hubby's cats then too....

  7. One of my cats do it too. It seems to be a cat thing.

And Wylla is teaching the young and impressionable kittens about it too, oh noes... ;)

  8. Our late great Hyper Cat (Hyperion) did this, as did our first, the late great Saturn, and both would also use their claws to pull out perfectly shaped little five-sided pieces from a corner and toss them aside (with the softer boxes). Current cats Aegir & Iapetus, and kitten Erriapus, shred, ignore, and chew cardboard, respectively. Hyper would also "peel" the heavy duty boxes: sit next to them and use his claws to tease loose the top (paper) layer wherever there was a break in it, then catch the edge of that between his toes' and "heel" pads, and carefully pull long strips of it downward and off, drop them aside, and then sit looking at the box intently for a minute to figure out where to start and peel the next piece. Cats are such great entertainment, on top of everything else!

I like the humans & bubble wrap explanation-- which hubby also explains as "'Cause it's fun!" LOL

Maybe Wylla needs one of those boxes with a silhouette of a T-Rex on it around & just beneath the hole. There's a pic like that when you search for "cats & cardboard" boxes. Hilarious. Ditto WRT some stills from a Big Cat Rescue video ("Do Big Cats Like Cardboard Boxes?"-- tigers etc and big box store boxes).--from Arowyn

  9. Extremely silly, indeed. The 'Beware of Cat' sign on the front of the house is very appropriate. :D

  10. Did Wylla hijack your Youtube account and learn this from the Engineers Guide to Cats?

  11. Ahh, I just caught the "Beware of Cat" sign...too funny!

  12. our Daiquiri is a master cardboard destroyer as well :)

  13. Way back in the dawn of time, we had Callie Princess Precious Paws aka Killer of all things cardboard.I think they just like the way it feels on their teeth. Or it is Wylla's "Evil Twin, Skippy" (that's who all my sisters and I blamed when we got caught being naughty.)

  14. She sure seems to be enjoying herself! Great video.

  15. Wylla is thinking "I told that architect that I wanted a bay window here!" :D

  16. Maybe she mistakenly thinks it's a gingerbread house.

  17. She is crafty like her mom ;-) Thanks for sharing!

  18. I had a cat once (large and male) who loved cardboard the same way Wylla does...he didn't gnaw away at it, though. He just fanged it to bits with lots of holes (my daughter, in elementary school at the time) called them Cat Staples.

  20. What a cute idea. I have to make a little house like this for our kitty. I hope she doesn't chew it though! Thanks for sharing it.

  21. Bumblebee used to do that as well. She would tear off a piece, spit it out, repeat. It is so funny to watch! I love the video...

  22. She just wanted a larger picture window and a grander entrance. Can you blame the girl??

  23. Maybe you should get her a Hopper Hideaway. Multiple stories! It's meant for bunnies (edible), but it's the same general principle.

  24. Actually, I meant the Cottontail Cottage. Sorry.

  25. I agree with GD , she wanted bigger openings. Afterall, the girl has filled out nicely this year. Gail

  26. I would say she is doing some redecorating. That's all!
