Happy Yak-iversary!

It just a few days, we'll be celebrating a strange but awesome anniversary.  A year ago, Wylla regurgitated for the last time because of her condition, Megaesophagus.

I know, how odd to celebrate the last time your cat yakked,  but to us it marks a full year of her being a healthy cat.

She weighed a hair over six pounds back then. Here's a photo taken a year ago.

Once she started keeping her food down, she quickly started putting on weight, and today she is over nine pounds. She's fifty percent bigger! And floofier, too. Her coat has gotten so thick!

When I was mopping the kitchen floor in preparation for Thanksgiving houseguests, I decided to put away the little crate we used to elevate her wet food. Though there's been no need to serve her wet food elevated anymore (she processes everything she eats with ease, even her dry kibble which she eats rom a dish on the floor) we kept up the practice of feeding her there just in case she regressed and needed gravity again to help her digest her food.  It feels weird not having that crate in the kitchen, but I'm so happy that there's no need for it anymore.

Happy Yak-iversary, dear Wylla Stout.  We're so thrilled to celebrate this health milestone with you!!

  3. Yay! And yes, cats blossom so much when they get good food and can keep it down. :-)

  4. Well, Laurie and Craig, her health is certainly due to the fantastic care and patience you gave her! Few people would willingly take on that challenge. You are remarkable people!

  6. This is the very best anniversary to be able to celebrate. You did a wonderful job helping wee Willa through her eating difficulties. She was so lucky to find her way to one of the best kitty Mommies in the world. Yayyyy to Laurie and Willa on this momentous occasion!

  9. I get it. In October we observed the one-year anniversary of my daughter's last nosebleed -- the one that sent her to the emergency room. For the second time.

  10. That's amazing news. I hope she continues to be healthy enough to someday need to diet like her big sister. ;-)

  13. Love, love, love special needs cat/kitten stories! Even if they do not resolve well, the love given and received is always the point, and worth it and then some, if one at all can take it on! Congratulations to Wylla and her "staff"!--from Arowyn
