Clovis Ashby Saves the Day!

Good morning! Thank you for letting me put the FUNdraiser on autopilot last night. I promised myself I wouldn't check my phone during our anniversary dinner, but I did take a peek at it when I excused myself to visit the restroom. At that point, things seemed to be clipping along at a good pace, and it felt like we were on target.

We returned home around 9:30,  I checked our Fundraising page, and we had fell $164 short of our match!  We've missed completing a match before, and it's not the end of the world when we do, but it was a little disappointing that we were so close and didn't make it.

But then I realized I had forgotten to factor a donation in.  Yesterday afternoon, former IBK Clovis Ashby sent me a message telling me that his Mom and Dad had made a $250 donation to IBKC Team Member Sarah's page and asked if it could be put towards the match.

SO we're good!  We did it!   Thank you Clovis Ashby! (and his awesome, generous parents).

It makes my heart so happy to see that we've raised over $10,000 for the Special Needs Fund.  Thank you to everyone who made that fund grow! And, of course, Cynthia played such a huge part in making that happen with her generous match.  Thank you  Cynthia!  The vet staff will be able to help so many cats and kittens with this money.

We're still collecting donations for this fund until 9:00 AM Pac Time, so you still have a couple of hours to chip in if you would like to support this fund.

Here's our little hero, Clovis Ashby, as a wee kitten.

Clovis Ashby

We ended our first naming rights auction and our friend Lynn, who adopted Zelda (now Zoubie) Lamm, was our big winner. Thank you, Lynn, for your generous winning bid!!

She selected "Hollis" as the surname. Hollis is the first name of her daughter.

From Lynn:

My Hollis is so dedicated to saving every cat that shows up on her porch- it is like she has a neon sign for the mother cats to drop off their kittens at her house in Claremont CA. She gets them spayed/neutered, takes them to the vet, and works with local groups to find them homes. She has always loved cats and has such a tender heart for them. And they love her right back.

Lynn also shared a few sweet photos of the lifelong love affair Hollis has had with kittens and cats.  Pretty adorable!

We've got the first of the first name auctions happing now and it will be ending at 10:00 AM this morning. To get in on the bidding for the rights to name the little gray tabby girl, please visit HERE.

I'll be back with LOTS more today! So stay close!

  1. Yay for Clovis Ashby (and his family)!

How sweet is that story about Hollis. I always enjoy reading things like this - the stories behind names.

  2. Way to go Clovis Ashby and parents!

I can't think of a better tribute to such a beautiful and kind soul as Lynn's daughter Hollis than to have a litter of IBKC kittens named for her.
