Still Wee

Yesterday, wee Wylla turned seven months.  She's growing, but so slowly. She weighs just three pounds and four ounces,  so she's still half of what she should be for her age.  Though she's not growing much bigger, she's looking older.

Her condition hasn't changed,  we're still dealing with her Mega Esophagus, but I think we're getting better at managing it, and so is she.   She's able to keep most of her meals down, but has an occasional bad day. She still eats standing up, but we hold her upright afterwards much, much less.

Because she weighs no more than a feather,  it's quite easy for Wylla to jump high, and get into all sorts of trouble.  We're trying our best to discourage this behavior, but so far, it's not really working.  She's a very determined kitten on a mission to get into things.

With the help of Photoshop, these portraits below could easily be made into mugshots.  Should the naughtiness levels increase, I may just do that.

    1. You don't have to register. Under "Select profile" choose "Name/URL." It lets you just fill it in without registering. And you don't have to have a URL, either. Just leave it blank.

My name as you see it is just typed in. So you can type anything you want in the name field.

    2. I discovered I still have a Google id, thought Id deleted it when I deleted my old blog :)

  6. She is growing out of her baby looks into an adult look. She is becoming quite the beauty. I hear tinfoil is good tool to help deter things...Hopefully as she matures these will decrease. It did with Twyla, the little thief. LOL!

  8. Gosh she's so darn cute. I can see where it would be easy to forgive her (nearly) everything.

BTW, That 4th one has "Who? What? Me?" written all over it :) Perfect mugshot!

  9. OMG! She is so adorable! As far as mug shots go - the second from the last is perfect! :)

  10. My family had a kitty who Wylla reminds me of. She was also extra floofy and wildly-colored, though her palette was mostly grays. She remained a kitten, both in size and temperament, until the very end.

Much love to Ms. Wylla. And Ms. Charlene too!

  11. Ah!! Naughty, naughty Wylla :)
But was there ever a cuter tiny mischief maker?

  12. Aw, Wylla. I have a featherweight floofy tabby girl ... she never grew beyond 6.8 lbs., and now in her old age (soon to be 18!!) she's just 5.5 lbs. But tinycats are awesome, and Mini's vet says her small size may have helped her to live so long in such good health. Sometimes I wish I could chub her up a bit, but some cats are just destined to be wee ones.

I love to hear that Audrey's wild spiritedness lives in Wylla too! :)

    1. My Emily, too -- she never got beyond 6 lbs, and now at 17-1/2 she's probably only about 5.5 lbs, too. She's always been able to get into places a larger cat could never dream of getting into, which is of course the fun of having such a wee kitty!

Although how anyone could think sweet innocent little Wylla could be guilty of any misbehavior is beyond credibility, needless to say. :)

    2. Yay for tinycats! :)

I remember when Mini was about 3 years old, she could slip under doors (old apartment, warped floors, but still!). And years later she'd leap from floor to counter to top of fridge to high cabinet, up 8 feet, and I'd never hear a thing, because she is so lightweight and graceful and stealthy.

  13. I know that look - it says, "I can get up there...now what's the best angle to approach from"? Delightfully mischievous.

Our girl is five years old and only weighs 6.5 lbs. Not to worry, wee Wylla will get big enough.

  15. We had to put two sided tape on our headboard to keep Zoubi and Indy from playing on it. It worked UNTIL Zoubi decided it was tasty and started licking it at 4 am while standing on my head. Scrape, scrape, scrape, scrape- repeat times 20. I don't think she will have any tongue left.If you can't climb it, you can lick it, I guess.

  17. Happy 7 months birthday, wee Wylla!

  18. No worries Wylla - just carry on. Any charges will need to be brought in kitten court and I am confident no time would need be served (particularly if you give the Judge that look in pic#4). Then when you become a "cat" we will have your "kitten" record sealed and it will be like you have no priors. Fresh start to misbehaving

  20. Wee Wylla, Escape Artist Extrodinaire! No jail cell can keep The Wily Wylla in, she just slips thru the bars. No Kitten Court Judge would convict, look at them eyes!

Let the Naughty Kitten Antics begin! And tinfoil? I bat your tinfoil behind the fridge!

have you tried a squirt bottle of water?
Wee Wollie Wet Wily Wylla, what an image!

  21. I love Wee Wylla's winsome gazes. How could she POSSIBLY be a bad kitty???

    Naughty, sure.
    Mischievous? Absolutely.
    Beloved? Indubitably...

  22. Wylla is literally and figuratively showing her ginger side! ;-)

  23. Any idea when a new batch of kittens will arrive? It'll be exciting to see how Wylla reacts to them.

    1. We're not ready for them yet. We'll see some before the kitten season ends, but we still have lots to do before we can take them in again.

  24. Love this girl! Gorgeous, and a fighter.

I'm sure the Getting Into Stuff gets exasperating, but it's so great she's got that kind of energy despite the mega-e.

  25. It sounds like Wylla needs some remedial classes in behaviour at Charlene Butterbean's Finishing School!

  26. Wylla is ooking more & more like part Norwegian Forest cat to me...if so, be prepared because they love to jump & explore high places, very agile, very affectionate & very smart...also very lovey.

  27. Now we know why this girl has such a wide-eyed look: to get her out of all her mischief. Lucky for her, it works!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hearing about her penchant for mischief just makes Jay's poster even sweeter. The little upside-down Wylla perhaps was foreshadowing.... :-)

  29. Oh that Wylla- I can imagine how hard it must be to not crack a smile when you catch her being naughty!
Laurie- I know you a pro and have an amazing vet staff. You obviously have done so much and tried so many things to help this wee girl. I'm not sure if it's disrespectful for me to throw out a suggestion but it helped my kitty a lot... for the first few years of my kitty's life, he was throwing up his food several times a week. Our vet said that he may have a ticklish throat, causing his gag reflex to react. We give him a little squirt of the tuna flavored hairball vaseline before he eats to coat this throat. It worked and he doesn't get sick as often as he used to. I know what he has is completely different than Wylla but didn't know if it might help a little. I know you have tried everything known to man and I hope you know this comes from a heart felt place!
