Happy News, Sad News

The Happy Part:
I don't mean to be a tease, but I can hardly wait to share Graham's adoption tale with you.   It's a sweet one, and sure to fill your heart with holiday joy. It's also a long one, and I need the time to write it all out and share all the little details.

Actually, all of our dear Loudermilks have some very wonderful happily-ever-after stories and I know I said I would start telling those tales today, but I'm going to wait until Monday.  I am wrapping up the last of my holiday projects tomorrow, and I don't have the proper amount of time and focus to tell these stories right.    Thanks for being patient.   I'll post early on Monday, so you'll all be able to start off week with some warm and fuzziness.

The Sad Part:
I wanted to send a little love out today to Marianne and Bud, parents to our former fosters Inez and Edward Davenport.   Marianne shared with me that dear little Inez passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, due to kidney failure. She was only four years old.

 My heart aches for them.

Marianne and Bud are two of the kindest folks you'll ever meet, and they LOVE their kitties deeply. Inez was a very sweet, warm, funny and spirited girl.  She brought a tremendous amount of joy to all, and I know this loss is huge for them.

Marianne, Bud, and Edward - you are deep in our thoughts right now.   We're so, so sorry you had to say goodbye to your very special girl.

Much love and many hugs to you from this whole community.

  2. A month ago, I lost my own little four-year-old cat, Harley, unexpectedly. I so feel their pain. Four is just too young to say goodbye to a cat. Sending a lot of good thoughts their way today. And to you, Laurie, because I know you love every single feline soul that goes through your home.

If there is any solace, it is in knowing that dear little Inez had a wonderful life in her forever home, and was adored until the very end.

Can't wait to read the Loudermilk adoption stories.

  3. Poor Inez, a short life, but at least it was filled with love and that's what counts.
I hate hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and kidney failure in young cats. It's so unfair.

  4. Looking forward to more happy news on Graham and all the Loudermilks.
So sorry to hear about Inez - that's just tragic and my heart goes out to Marianne, Bud and Edward. It's news like this that makes me want to leave my office to head home to hug my boy kitty right now. He'll get an extra special long hug tonight. Thinking of you Inez!

  5. Oh, sweet little kitty, how sad for her people and her brother. How lucky she was to spend time with Laurie and the Bean and with her humans!

  6. Oh my, poor adorable little Inez... yes, 4 years old is much too soon to leave us.
I'm very touched by this news because my beloved little Shali has chronic renal failure and I'm always scared that an urea crisis might kill her. I am so so sorry for Marianne and Bud :'-(

Hope everything goes smoothly with your projects, very much looking forward to reading the lovely tales on Monday. xxxx

  11. Feeling such sadness for Inez's family and especially for Edward. I know Marianne and Bud will be comforted by his presence as he will by theirs. XO

  12. My condolences to Inez' humans. IMO any age that our kitties leave us is too soon, but that young is especially heartbreaking. I hope they can take comfort in that they gave Inez the best life she could have hoped for.

Take as much time as you need to feel sad and cry. My wish is that in time you will let the sadness go and fill it with joy from the memories that you have with your sweet little girl. We are all crying and sad with you. Sending you so many hugs.

  25. So hard to lose a kitteh... Tom and I lost our dear Lucia this past year very suddenly to kidney failure as well, she was 5. It is so hard to say goodbye. Our grieving was so intense, but we realized with time that this was a sign we loved her as family. It really helped us to put together a photo collage frame of her and make a list of all the things about her we didn't want to forget, taping it to the back of the frame. It was a nice way to work through our feelings together, and celebrate her life. Our thoughts are with you...

  26. I went back to the Alumni pics and pulled up the pictures of little Inez, it brought back sweet memories. I just LOVED the picture of her and Edward sitting cheek to cheek in the window. I am so sorry to hear the sad news of her passing at such a young age. My heart goes out to her human and kitty family. Hopefully the good news of all the Loudermilk kids' new homes will provide some cheer for the holidays :)

  29. I have that lovely photo of Inez as a postcard. I remember someone commenting at the time you first posted it, saying she looked like a grumpy old man saying "Get off my lawn!"

  36. My condolences to Marianne, Bud and Edward. I started crying when I read the news as I had just been looking at Inez's pictures earlier in the week. I love the one you posted above; she looked so small and round.

  37. My deepest sympathies to Marianne, Bud and Edward. They have all lost a beloved family member...way too early.

Inez clearly had the best possible start in life as an IBKC member and then with her forever family.

I love some of the responses about remembrances and love shared. Young Edward has an adjustment to help his family make. ((hugs))

Graham is a sweet goofy boy, I look forward to the adoption stories.

  38. I'm so sad for Marianne and Bud and Edward. I hope Edward is doing okay -- it's so hard on animals when their sibling leaves so suddenly. (Not that it's any easier on the humans, but at least they understand why!) I know Inez was much loved, and you have many happy memories to help console you as time passes. It's never easy to lose a beloved baby, no matter what the age, but it's especially cruel when they're so young.

  49. My sympathies and thoughts are with Marianne, Bud and Edward on their loss. I hope the day soon comes when your thoughts of Inez are filled with the joy of her life rather than the sadness of her passing. Her time may have been short but it appears it was a life well lived and well loved - no kitty could wish for more and no kitty deserves any less. Thanks for giving that to Inez and Edward.

  50. RIP to lovely little Inez. I did not know about IBKC when she was being fostered. But I have experienced the loss of my 5 year old tux, Oreo who died of sudden kidney failure in 2010 and her littermate Skipper who passed from the same thing at 8 years old (3 weeks ago). My heart truly aches for you Marianne and Edward. If it makes you feel any better, Skipper and Oreo will show little Inez the ropes just the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. <3

Everyone who has loved and lost a kitty knows what a sad time this is. Little Inez started out with a precarious future that was turned into a wonderful kitty life. Our sympathies are with little Inez's family.

  55. When the card set of the Davenports was issued, I bought mine knowing full well I'd never ever send Inez's card to anyone; I was keeping it for myself. She was such a dainty dolly, and grew to be a beautiful cat.

To Inez's dear family, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your precious girl/sister. May her memory be a blessing.

    1. Inez was my favorite kitten of all time here on the site. When I adopted my little tuxie cat, she was 6 years old so I had never gotten to see her as a baby. Inez looked SO much like Ebbie that it felt like I was getting a little window into what she may have been like as a kitten. I'm so sorry to hear about Inez' sudden illness, epsecially so close to the holidays. Hugs and condolences.
