Louie Small, Louie Large

The photograph of Louie on the left was taken the day I picked the Smalls up from the shelter.  The one  on the right was taken a just few days ago.

Louie and all the Smalls are still small for their age, but they've filled out nicely,  their proportions are good, and they're healthy.   Everyone is well past the two pound mark, and are scheduled for surgery this week.

So, yes.   Our days with the Smalls are numbered.

Brace yourselves, we'll be saying goodbye to this special bunch very soon.

  1. This makes me so, so happy. Laurie, this shows once again how amazing and wonderful a kitten wrangler you are. Shrimp Louie no more! Or maybe we should call him Jumbo Shrimp Louie. I still like the "shrimp" bit because it goes with the pinky-ness of his little face.

    1. Jumbo Shrimp Louie! Perfect!

He's turning into a fine little mancat.

  2. He looks so much healthier thanks to your TLC! I am sure he will go on to become a wonderful part of someone's permanent family soon.

  3. So fantastic to see the before and after. I was a little anxious for this little guy when I saw his early pictures. But my own kitties were malnourished before I got them, and are now happy as clams four years later.

    1. I really don't know anything more than she was adopted shortly after she was made available at the shelter.

  8. Louie sure has filled out and is looking wonderful. I do believe his little face has caught up to his ears! They were so big in that first picture. He is a handsome boy.

  9. Wow that really shows what some real fostering TLC can do for a kitten! He looked like such a scrawny little ragamuffin in the first pick-adorable, but still- And now he has turned into such a beauty, as they all have. I will be sad to see the Smalls go, but excited for them in their wonderful new lives.

  11. Aw, he's just gorgeous. What a face! (both pics) It must make you as tickled pink as his ears to see how wonderful he looks now compared to his "shrimp-ier" days!

  12. Shrimp Louie's just a po' boy, from a po' family...

  13. Aww! He is turning into such a handsome fellow! And he's growing into those ears!
Great job with this litter, Laurie! They are all happy and healthy, thanks to you!

  14. I love it when you can see the difference. You did a fantastic job with them, better than usual since they did need extra TLC. The Bean must be proud. Do you already have adopters lined up?

Doodle, I understand the momma was adopted soon after the kittens were brought to the IBKC. But don't quote me on it.

  15. I can live with losing them if it means they'll be healthy and happy and safe in their new homes! Can't wait to see who goes home with whom. Thanks for the work you do, Laurie, and for sharing it. As a full-time-job-single-mom to three kitties (go ahead, make the cat-lady jokes, I can't hear you), I can't foster on my own, so it is really a gift to be able to live vicariously through you.

  16. Never enough time with any of the cuties. Louie's grown and filled out nicely and I'm sure he'll make whichever human(s) he decides to adopt very happy.

  17. These 'before' and 'after' pictures oughta be reposted during the next FUNdraiser as a reminder of all the terrific, important work the IBKC does. Maybe Jumbo Shrimp Louis can be the spokescat for the 2013 FUNdraiser! Excellent work IBKC!!!

  18. As heartbreaking as it is to think of them leaving, it's equally heart warming to see how they are thriving. Whoever gets these little kitters will be a lucky human! kisskiss

  19. Aw, little Louie is so perfectly roly-poly now! I wonder if he can still balance himself on the baby gate, lol. He's such a precious little guy.

  20. If their mama Ruth could see them now, she'd be sooo happy. She did her best as you have done, too, Laurie. No wonder they were such a sleepy bunch with all the growing they did. Bless you, Craig and Bean!

  21. Wow - these two pictures say far more than two thousand words....all of them compliments for the terrific way you nurtured Louie and his litter, Laurie! I agree - these pix could be turned into an effective poster for the FUNdraiser...maybe his new family will let Louis make a guest appearance too!

  22. If anyone ever doubts the benefits of fostering, all you have to do is show them these two photos. Jumbo Shrimp Louie is certainly proof of your talents in helping kittens thrive -- the "after" photo is a thriving kitten if I ever saw one! I hate to think of saying goodbye to the Smalls, but I know they'll have happy, healthy lives. Don't all graduates of Charlene's Finishing School?

  23. i hate good bye day :(

and i think because the smalls remind me of my baby stewart that i love them more than usual.

  24. No words... just lots of love for Jumbo Shrimp Louie and kudos to Laurie, Craig, and the Bean for being the absolute best kitten wranglers ever!

  25. shrimp louis is what my baby stewie looked like on day one. now he is a festively plump cat. He's 16POUNDS now. the vet said he looks fine, but if he wants to be in commercials he might need to loose a pound or so, but he hates the camera.

anyway all this i meant to say, i wonder if the smalls will be bigs!
