A Big Day Ahead!

DSC_0157

In just a little bit I'll be packing up Astrid, Thurston and Norma and we'll be taking a little ride to the vet.

Yes, it's THAT day. Time for the old snippity-snip.

They're still in their room right now, and I haven't said good morning to them yet. Everyone is awake, and through the crack beneath the door, I can see three sets of paws.

On the day of surgery, they're not allowed to have breakfast. More than just about anything, kittens hate NOT having breakfast. If I were to let them out of their room now, they would be screaming at me and climbing my pajamas, demanding their meal.

I wish I could explain to them why they can't have their breakfast, but they are probably better off not knowing why.

So, it's easier on all of us if they just stay there until it's time to go.

Oh, dear. Astrid's little arms are sticking out from under the door now. She's fishing around and trying to grab the pair of slippers I left parked outside their room. Someone is crying, too. This is killing me.

Time to wrap up this post, and get out the road.

Please wish them luck. They've got a big day ahead.

They'll do great, and this big day is the beginning of their new BIG lives. One bad day is in the way of starting their journey to a forever home, once they figure that out, it's all good.

    Good luck little Easterbrooks!

  8. I would add that all cats hate not having their breakfast! I dread the morning I have to take my kitty in for any kind of procedure, as I know having to skip any meal will make her unhappy!

    Good luck, Easterbrooks!

  21. Good Luck! That plaintive meow is so effective. Even when I know my cat isn't really going to starve in the next 10 minutes, is in no danger in her carrier, and will be much better off after her vet visit, that meow still turns me to mush.

Prayers that all goes well with the snippety snip. AnnaMeow I saw a cartoon that shows the cat asking why the dog is hopping around..the dog says I am going to go get tutored and I going to be smarter than you!

  24. Oh such a hard but necessary thing to do to itty bitty kitties. And to see those paws peeking out from under the door makes me go mushy. Bless the vet's hands as he/she does the work!!

  25. Oh, babies. You're such a good mommy. I don't know how you do it! I'm too much of a sucker.

  26. At my house, if one has to fast, we all fast, including me!! And I stay up until midnight and the one going to the vet gets wet food. When said kitty is packed in the carrier and we are on our way out the door, I put down some crunchies for the kids staying home. Me, I get a donut on the way to work. Hey, we all deserve a treat. Unfortunately, I have kids that get gassed for their annuals... It was Sabina's turn today...
