Lordy, Lordy it's a Torbie

Yep, a torbie. Tabby + Tortie = Torbie. I know, from the front, she looks all Tabby. If she ever stops running around, I'll get a picture of her backside so you can see her torti-ness. For now, just trust me, she's a Torbie.

She's not our first Torbie. Perhaps you recall a little cute-pie named Tressa Lovejoy

So what's her name? I'll announce the names after you've seen the whole brood.

  1. I love blended kitties. We have a Tortie/Siamise I call Cheesecake, but my hubby calls Toasty for she is the color of a toasted Marshmellow.

  4. Tressa was a torbie? I would have called her a calico- a mix of orange, black and white?

  5. I am currently owned by a torbie. I'm betting this little lady has a whole lot of spunky-tude. She's just beautiful...but then all ibk's are!

  6. Linda -
A calico has distinct patches of color. A tortie has multiple colors too, but the colors are blended.

Tressa didn't have solid patches. She had blended patches of color like a Tortie, in a distinctive Tabby pattern, so was a torbie.

  8. Is Torbie an actual color name? Like calico or tiger?

  9. She is awfully cute, but I'm not sure she matches Tressa-- but Tressa hasn't been replaced as my favourite yet, so I'm a little biased.

  10. Oh, there is a torbie at our house too!! All stripes but in calico blocks. And all tortie-tude too. :)

  11. She is beautiful...but so serious, like her brother!

Do I have a Torbie??? A Tuxtie? She has perfect tuxedo markings, but where her fur is not white, it is blended tortie colors. I've been calling her a tortishell tuxedo...And she calls me staff!

  12. You can actually see it from the front. The black 'necklace' stripe has a segment on the center left that's red and not black.

I think the technical term would be "Tortoiseshell with white" - Tuxedo is an unofficial name for a "with white" that has the paws and shirt front white.

Well come sweet, new little girl. And who could forget Tressa? "The cutest little kitten in the history of the world" or something like that. except for the Bean, of course!

  25. Lovely girl - Torbies are fascinatin'

You will truly enjoy the world you find past the door of your room! There is a wondrous kitty who will show you how to be wondrous growed-up kitties!

shove a piece or three of kibble under the door...and you will have a friend past forever!

  27. I don't know if it's because the Furmans were so goofy and playful, but these cute little newbies do indeed look very serious! This baby girl kinda looks like a mouse with that nose; adorable!

  28. Look at that face - so cute. I didn't realize I have a dilute torbie until I saw this picture; mine has similar markings in the face and legs, and then her back has the dilute tortie coloring.
