Catching Up with Fergus Mayfield

D300_A_DSC_5858_web640

For those of you who've been following the IBKC awhile, you'll remember this fluffy fellow, Fergus Mayfield. Martha, his mother, was kind enough to send some recent (and beautiful) pics and a little blurb on her boy.

Here's what she had to say...

We just moved to a new home (the first day was traumatic but after that Fergus settled in ok) so he and his brother are learning new routines, places to sleep (current favorite is under a lamp), and new things to see out in the yard from the windows. He “hunts” birds from the back windows and is very interested in a very large Maine coon that lives next door. Fergus is such a great cat, I can’t even tell you how glad we are that we added him to our lives. He gets in trouble to be sure (he is obsessed with eating any scrap of paper or cardboard in the house!) but he is still the snuggliest most loving cat ever. He lets you rub his belly forwards, backwards, and any way you like. He is still tiny (in our experience with cats) at only 8.5 pounds. Every night it’s like he’s trying to win a cutest-fluffiest-cat contest all over again.

Thanks so much for the update, Martha. It's so nice seeing the lovely little boy again!

You've seen the "after"... now here's the "before".... a couple of pics of the little lad from IBKC archives....

Martha, that's not eating cardboard... it's post modern cardboard deconstruction! It's an art form!! Really! Would an engineer lie? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHXBL6bzAR4)

  20. Hey now! He is a real beauty! How old would he be now? He looks like he should be big because of the floof, but 8 pounds really isn't that much, perfect for snorgling, I'm sure!

  21. Thanks so much for your lovely comments everyone! Everyone remarks on Fergus' ear floof and his super fluffy belly. He feels no need to have his fur all smooth and in order. :)

  25. DEAR Laurie, please pass this on to DEAR Martha: YOU know how fond all of us out here get to the IBK; well, it transfers to their new forever families too. Fergus was the favorite of us all, floofy little guy he was and I can see that under your adoration and nurturing he's become an elegant, self-possessed exquisite example of pussycatness. For your care of him, Martha, THANK YOU (and for sending update pix? YOU ROCK!!)

  26. We've never seen Fergus before ~ but wot a lovely fella he is. He was a cute bay and now he's a cute mancat!

  27. Such a pretty boy. Funny that he's small, because he looks like he's at least part Maine Coon to me (the floof, the ear tufts). Then again it might just be a different strain of longhair. Love his contented smile in the sun.

  28. I've never seen such gorgeous ear-hair before!
