Jumping Bean

Our evening ritual, "jumping The Bean". To insure a good night's rest for all, it must be done. Otherwise, she's pacing on our pillows all night long.

  1. Oh, Bean, you are so lovely and can visit me and pace on my pillow any time!

  2. I love the fact Charlene is predictable enough that you were able to set up a stationery remote camera to capture the Beanie goodness.

  3. Look at The Bean being all active and stuff (lol).

  4. You know, for a big girl, she's very light on her feet! :) How are those floor joists holding up, 'though?

  5. Getting a little glimpse of this last week was wonderful. But this ~ oh this is fabulous!

  7. She is too cute --- I love her tail

  8. I love that idea. Elvis gets a bit rowdy. I may have to try that.

  9. Hey Charlene, I didn't mean to imply that you were fat or anything like that. I mean, you're substantial, but more in an attractive, big-boned, curvaceous kind of way. No hard feelings, okay? ;)

  10. I try it with Marbles, but she just watches the item land and looks at me like I an NUTS. Or she leaps at it about 15 seconds after it passes.

  11. Well, she's just a health-conscious sort who insists on getting her cardio in each day. If you won't provide an opportunity, she has to come up with one herself... ;)

  12. Maybe you need to jump the bean some more, so she's less...'floofy'...

  13. We have our evening rituals around our house, too, and if we don't follow the rituals EXACTLY ON TIME, we risk getting stared to death. Or swiped with claw as we walk by. Or--my personal favorite--swatted on the butt and yelled at by an angry kitty or two.

  14. I am not even Butterbeans owner and I am offended by some of the comments about the kitty's weight -- she looks fine and she is very fluffy. She isn't excessively overweight.

  15. Poofy tail is poofy! How'd I never notice that before?

  16. that's really cute

  17. Oh, Anonymous, don't worry about the comments. the regulars here love Miss Charlene a great deal - and any comments about her weight are meant lovingly. We know she has a propensity for kitten food. She is indeed very charmingly floofy. :-)

  18. Very cute. Mom and Dad encourage us to play in the evenings too ~ know we know why!

  19. Miss Charlene ~ so graceful and beautiful! That looks like a great nightly ritual to me!

  20. So funny! I love how she comes back to the same precise spot each time... cats are like toddlers, they never get tired of their favorite games!

Here we have to exercize the four monsters before bed too, or it's a yowling fest all night... laser pointer and peacock feathers work wonders on rowdy kitties :) I wish they would jump like this though haha

  21. It's a bouncing Baby Bean!

Charlene puts me in mind of Maren, who is part Manx, and built very low to the ground. Some of Mare's nicknames are Wide Load, Tank (she looks like a propane tank w/legs) and Maraboom. To tell the truth, our little sweetie takes after me!

  22. I must be the only one who read the intro and thought YOU were going to be jumping over Charlene! The reality is much better!

  23. Hey, I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my teasing about Charlene and structural damage to the floor joists. I think she's just about perfect and she's just as God made her. I swear I wouldn't have teased if Charlene hadn't started it with her "I'm not fat, I'm floofy" campaign.

Thanks, Darin, for understanding what I meant.

  24. My little kitty is, er, floofy, too. I affectionately refer to her as Behemoth Kitty. We all love the husky kitties, and their feelings are not hurt when we poke fun at them.

  25. Cynthia, I think most of us could tell your comment was just good natured joking! Don't worry about it! Gentle, kindly meant ribbing has been one of the fun things about this blog, to me anyway!!
:-) I have my own "Portly Prince," btw!

  26. We're not offended. And truly, she's a completely healthy weight.

  27. I have two floofy Siamese as well (lynx-point mixes) and do you know, they sleep really well through the night! I had read that their blue eyes lack the seeing-in-the-dark capacity that other-colored cats' eyes had, and figured that was why they're such good sleepers. But maybe not. Or maybe Miss Charlene Butterbean is just a very very special lady.

  28. OBTW I'm sure you're well-connected enough to have heard about the Cat Dancer -- but if you haven't, it's a wire with cardboard shreds on the end that my boys love. Something about the way the wire moves is just fascinating to them. Worth checking out if you haven't seen it before. Although as you're crafty, you could probably make it and make much prettier versions than the one on the market. I think the wire's 12-gauge or something similar.
