Is it Safe to Come Out Yet?

DSC_0666
It was a loud, long day, but everyone survived the 4th. In addition to the ka-booms from the fireworks show at night, there was a lot of noise from the airshow during the day. Both kittens and big cats did a lot of diving behind and under furniture all day long.

They were frightened, but not completely freaked out.

And Hubie and Lucinda did great on Friday. Their surgeries went just fine. They were a little bit out of it when I picked them up, but by the time we got home, all was well. They ate dinner then zipped about the house like nothing even happened.

Selma, Francine and Rhoda will hopefully go in this week, then yes we'll start saying goodbye. ALMOST everyone is spoken for...

  1. Oh my gosh! It feels like the Darlings have been with you forever and yet it never seems long enough. Who could possibly NOT be spoken for???

  2. Glad to hear the kitties did well on their first Fourth! It's ard to believe the time has come for them to get ready to go to their new homes. Can't imagine any of these sweeties could not already be spoken for - betcha he/she will be before the day is over. If not, I'll buy a transcontinental ticket and be at your door soon!

  3. Oh my! Such a look! Makes me want to cuddle and snorgle & tell Hubie everything is okay.

I can't believe it's almost time for them to go! *sniff* I hope they are going in groups! And, I hope whomever is left, is not left for long!

  4. I am glad the kittens, Charlene and Drewey weathered the fireworks. Enid and Hester couldn't have cared less. Shocked me! They just snuggled down on the pillows and slept through the noise.

  6. I've had my kitty for four years now, and this is the first 4th that she displayed any alarm. It's because we've had a series of severe hailstorms recently, with big booming thunder and flashes of lightning. It's proven too much for her nerves, I'm afraid.

  8. I am glad the IBK's and their support staff made it thru the 4th!

My 2 kitty girls and the puppy I am raising for Summit Assistance Dogs made it thru just fine. We had the help of Rescue Remedy, 2 loads of laundry (great white noise!),fans and TV or radio.

And now we are going to lose the Darlings??? How will we make it thru the 5.4 seconds before you get the next litter????

  10. Eek, forever-home time already?
I know, I know, it's a good thing... but they're still so little and we're going to miss them!

Really though, hooray for forever-homes and quick recoveries from surgery.

  11. If I were to take home Rhoda and Hubie, my head would surely explode from the sheer cuteness. I cannot imagine a more lovely pair of kittens in the world.

  12. So soon?? Sniff!!
How is it possible that one of these Darlings still needs a home, Laurie?

Diane, we had rousing thunderstorms late in the week, here in Baltimore. I agree, I think the storms had our little ones more nervous than they would have been, otherwise, on the 4th.

  13. Awwwww, they are going to be leaving so soon!!!

But, it is wonderful that they are finding their forever homes!!

Are they going to have to come back for their shifts to man the phones for the fundraiser??

  14. Hooray for the Red, White & Blue, and hooray for Rescue Remedy. We live in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Northern California, and fireworks aren't allowed here. However, Rescue Remedy has been a huge help for kitty rides down the mountain, when introducing new family members, after earthquakes, etc.

As always, the time w/each batch of babies seems far too short. Guess I'll soon be using Rescue Remedy myself to deal w/the trauma of saying goodbye.

  15. That's great most of those kitties are spoken for. I can't imagine who wouldn't be, they are all such darlings!

And great job on the fundraising! I check it every day... My cat, Mr Minou, cheers everytime it goes up a percent...

  16. Awwww...and nope, somehow I'm not surprised that they're almost all spoken for!

Chanter, in the background, three of the Darlings are lying down, looking up at the camera a bit. They're in kind of a tent from what looks like a comforter dangling down to the floor. Close to us, Hubie is cautiously peering out as he emerges.
