The Davenport Report

DSC_0341

Well four kittens went in, but only two had their surgery. Only Chet and Inez had the itty bitty bits removed. Edward and Cecily had a slight (very slight, actually) fever, so they could operate on them. Rats! I was so hoping we could send all the kitties off to their new homes this weekend! I know their new families are so disappointed too.

I suppose I can reveal now who's going with who. Chet and Cecily are one pair, the other, Edward and Inez.

Chet and Inez are doing just fine. You'd never guess that had surgery yesterday, it's just business as usual for the two.

  1. Are they the two cutest things you ever saw in your life, or what! Actually, all you have to do is show me two more of the IBKs and I'll think the same thing or, I can look over on the bed and see my own who are, indeed, the two cutest things I ever saw, or............

  2. Edward & Cecily must heal quickly and come for surgery on a Monday or Tuesday so they can get some lovin' from their Auntie Shana!

Yay for Chet & Inez and their successful itty bitty parts removal.

Our neighborhood marmie boy just passed by the front window, my dogs let me know all about it. I love my hubby but his kitty allergy sometimes leaves me in withdrawls! Do you think I could sneak Orson home? Would he notice?

  4. :melt: The huggle is just too much!

Sorry your ibp removal was delayed little ones, but the hoomans are just making sure you stay healthy. Besides, if you have your snips on Monday, you can commiserate with your bro on Tuesday. ;-)

  5. Sighhhh...Chet and Inez are so adorable! Are their bags packed yet? Please remind their new family that pictures (even better,
    blogs) are always welcome!

Hugs and snorgles to the whole Davenport clan!

  7. I don't always have time to comment on this blog, but rest assured that IBKC is my all-time favorite blog evar!!!, and I check it every day. Thank you SO MUCH for all you do, and for keeping us up to date on how the latest kitty family is doing.

Here's hoping that Edward and Cecily recover quickly and get their itty bits taken care of so they can go to their forever families asap.

THANK YOU ALL so much for finding homes for so many sweet kitties. Special thanks to Charlene for being such a wonderful interim "mom" to the little ones.

  9. Oh those little sweeties looking after each other, that's adorable. I hope Edward and Cecily are ok soon and that darling fuzzbomb Orson soon has an offer of a fabulous home too!

  10. Is it wrong that I'm very slightly sad that the two perfectly matched tabby kits are being split up?

  11. Aw, I hope Edward and Cecily get well soon!

  12. Chet and Inez are snuggling after their surgery. Inez is lying on her side, sound asleep, with her white leg warmers on her rear legs and her white mittens on her front legs showing up clearly. Chet is awake with his head raised and has one paw draped protectively over his sister, with the other, equally protectively, pressed against her neck and back. Nobody better mess with his sis!

  14. They're so cute!

I wanted to let you know you helped motivate me to foster another itty bitty kitty. Except this one isn't so itty. She's about 6 months, mostly black with a little white. She's only been here an hour but she's making herself at home. She's been exploring non-stop since she left her carrier. She's an absolute attention sponge. My other kitties don't like her yet. They growl when she comes close, but they haven't attacked yet. So I think that's a good sign.

Originally I wanted to keep her in a spare bedroom until everyone gets used to everyone else. Unfortunately it is very humid today and I realized the foster room was a bit stuffy with poor ventilation. The vent was under a bookcase. So while that room is airing out I put her in there with the door open. I hoped she would stay there with the familiar smells of her bed. No such luck. In another hour I'll check on that room again see if she's ready for it.

This wouldn't so much be for Pepe as for my permanent kitties. And if anyone wants to learn about her kitty mommy. Go to this link. Be warned, it is a sad tale with a happy ending.

  15. Its so sweet how they are so relaxed and happy to be around each other.
Obviously a happy placement for those two is on its way! >>whimpurr<<

I hope the elevated temps were anxiety related rather than illness and they can make their next visit a quick, productive one.

You don't think they "faked it" to help Orson out while he is waiting for his parent to come home from their summer vacation?

    ear\chin\under-the-collar skritches for all kitties!

  16. Jasoninillinois, that's such a sad story with such a wonderful ending. I just know your foster's Precious Mama will have a good life now to make up for the inhuman way that some human has treated her. Hug that kitten for her, and THANK YOU for caring for it. I hope your kitties fall in love with Pepe soon.

  17. Please, whomever takes Inez, take some pictures as she grows! Actually I love seeing all the IBKs growing on the Flickr group -that was the best idea ever.

  18. Thank you Anne Boleyn. Unfortunately this itty bitty kitty has not had her itty bitty parts removed yet and she's in heat. It's driving me crazy and not the happy fun crazy I usually am. She's driving everyone NUTS! She kept me up half the night with her meowing and she jumped at the door to the foster room so much I was scared she hurt herself. I'm trying to get a hold of the foster organization so they could take her back until she's spayed. She's a sweetheart and I want to foster her, she just has to settle down first.

  19. I want to take back the previous post. Pepe may not be in heat, maybe she was just scared of being alone for maybe the first night in her life (or she was coming out of heat). Today was much better. She still craved attention and my furever kitties are still warming up to her. No fights yet, and Pepe can get closer before they hiss. So I decided to at least try another night. I still told the adoption agency to schedule the surgery ASAP. The sooner she is fixed the sooner I'll feel better about someone else adopting her.

  20. JasonInIllinois, I hope you get a good night's sleep! I'll never forget the day (Many years ago) when I called the vet from my work to ask how I'd know when my kitten was in heat. He laughed, and when I got home, Wilma was doing the side stroke across the living room rug and accompanying herself with the appropriate yowl. We got to the vet before they closed!
