There's One Thing I Can Tell You

DSC_0425
Their last name is Davenport.

I'm still trying to work out the first names.

Ok,, I'll tell you one more thing... there's five of them.

I know he looks a lot like the cute little tabby I posted yesterday, but that wasn't him. As you can see, there are two of them.

  7. Ok... So how do you come up with their names? I love that they all seem to be families who live in 1950s Levittown.

Martin, your heart will tell you when the time is right for another wonderful kitty to enter your life. On behalf of the shelter staff and volunteers, we are so sorry for your loss.

PS ~ for those of you in the Tacoma-area, you must meet sweet Bella Girl. She melted in my lap today as we taped our shelter adoption show. Swing by and meet her ~ she's in the first lobby cage and she's an absolute doll!

  16. Thanks for the thoughts everyone.

Don't think I'll have another cat in my life at the moment as where I live now does not allow pets :(

I'll just have to virtually cuddle the itty bitty kitties instead!

  21. I love the name-guessing game! Cecily's brother strikes me as an Orville, perhaps. He also strikes me as a cutie-pie!

  22. OMPurry goodness! They remind me of my little moster Oliver. Can't wait to meet the Davenports. All I can think of is a good 40's movie where you "meet the Davenports"...Olivia? Claudette? Laurence? Can't wait to see!

  23. Of course, as we all know, Laurie does just fine in the naming category all by herself, thank you very much.

  26. (((Martin))) Yes, you do have the wonderful ibkc for virtual cuddles.

To echo Shanna, if your heart leads you that way, volunteering at a local shelter could give you, and some wonderful kittehs, hands on cuddling while you're in your current living arrangements.

At my Dad's retirement community, several folks, who don't want to begin another permanent pet relationship at this time in their lives, have found the volunteering to be a real lift!

  27. Tiny tabbies!!! What a pleasure to meet you, darling Davenports. The two of you put me in mind of my late Olivia and TJ, a precious brother and sister who graced our lives for 17 and 16 years, respectively. Olivia was tinier than TJ, and had a small patch of white fur on her chest.

You and your siblings are in for some serious adoration, snorggles and smooches, all of it well-deserved.

  28. I don't know why, but Davenport-with-socks looks to me like (s)he is ready for mischief any second.

Chanter, both photos are about tabby kittens; it is hard to see their size, but both fit to sit together on one of those round kitty toys (like a tablet or a plate), so they aren't too large yet.

On the top photo, there's just one kitten (that turned out to be a she). She is sitting very demurely and very catlike, with her black tail wrapped around the feet. Her tabby pattern is very pronounced light and dark grey, except that she has immaculate white socks or, rather, slippers. She's looking intently at the camera and seems very alert even though she is sitting very pretty. She looks like a cat who knows what she wants and isn't going to let the world interfere...

The second photo has both tabbies together. she-with-socks is grouching down in the background on the left (the pic is slightly fussy here because the bro has stolen the focus). he-the-fully-tabby is halfway between sitting up and grouching down, and both seem to be staring at something. They look to me a bit vary, so the something must be a bit strange, but not too scary and possibly something one has to pounce at.

As somebody mentioned earlier, these kittens are already big enough to have large pointed ears correctly positioned. I'd say they have greenish eyes and their white whiskers are very nicely offset by the grey tabby fur. Both also have some brown on ridge of their nose and on the brother it spreads a bit to the cheeks - that is a funny accent as the rest of them goes totally in greyscale!
