You're a Good Friend, Charlene Butterbean

Now that her siblings are gone, you can tell Twyla is a tad lonely. Every once in a while she'll drop what she's doing and go looking for them. It's pretty heart wrenching when she returns unsuccessful.

Charlene has been a constant companion to Twyla today. I am so proud of my little Butterbean, she's being such a good friend to her. I could be reading too much into her gestures, but it really seems she understands Twyla needs her right now.

  2. I just cannot believe that no one has jumped up and down to take her, she is such a precious lovely little patchwork girl!
I am keeping my fingers crossed so tight for her to be taken off and loved and cherished...

  3. How is it possible that Twyla hasn't been snatched up yet! If I didn't live all the way out here in Colorado, I would adopt her in a heartbeat!

  4. Poor little Twyla. Someone just has to come and get her soon! If only she weren't the odd one out, or had a sibling with whom to find a home. At least Charlene is keeping her company. She's such a good friend to the young ones.

  6. That brought a tear to my eye. Charlene girl is just fabulous. She takes after her mama, Laurie!! Give her an 'ole pat for me for being such a good friend.

  7. Sweet, Auntie Charlene! I do believe, just as the sun comes up every morning, a very special home is being prepared for Twyla Rose (once upon a time I had a Twyla Rose Kitty), and it's allllmost ready for her!

  8. Awww... poor Twyla!!! And I was about to post that she was, for several hours, the lead picture in "I Can Has Cheezburger" (she's now the second one. Here's the link http://icanhascheezburger.com/2008/06/21/funny-pictures-i-likes-garfield/
It's the adorable picture of her on top of a pile of books, and the IBKC was properly bylined.

I'm gonna comment on the picture tha anyone in the area who wants an adorable kitten (preferably with other kitties in the house, to keep her company) should contact the website!

  9. Miss Butterbean is such a wonderful foster Mommy...if I could, I would have taken Twyla in a sec!

You'll have a home soon, Miss Twyla!

    Purry Hugs, Robin

  10. Apparently Miss Butterbean has a few social niceties to share with Miss Twyla.

This extra time will make her an even more awesome sweet addition to someone's home.

She looks just a little insecure in the 3rd frame.

She may be missing Lovell, since she is using one of Charlene's beautifully white paws as a security paw!

No worries Twyla! You will have a beautiful forever homes and soon!

  11. Butterbean!

What a special and beautiful kitty that Charlene is. You cannot tell me that she doesn't know that Miss Twyla needs a little extra attention and care as she adjusts to life away from her siblings.

There is a special home for Twyla. I just know it. It will be filled with love and care and the best cat toys ever. In the meanwhile, Twyla gets the amazing Charlene all to her self for a litte while.

  12. Awww... if I didn't live on the other end of the continent, I'd definitely put my name in the hat for pretty Twyla. Hang in there, darlin', you'll have new friends soon!

  13. Charlene is such a darling to look after little Twyla. I can't understand how that little sweetie hasn't got a home yet. Perhaps Charlene will form a permanent attachment to little Twlya and pass on some of her fostering skills, so in the furture Twlya can share the kitten sitting duties? *

    * Hint, hint, hint!

  14. Yes, Jane! My sentiments exactly! I know that Craig has a two kitty limit but, while Drewey is wonderful and all, she's almost like a spirit kitty and maybe should be left out of the count.
Now, I'm one who seriously disapproves of making suggestions to the IBKC, and look what I've gone and done! This ain't none of my business, I know it, I'm sorry. I'll just go back to pretending Twyla is mine.

  15. I went back to the cheezburger site, and they properly linked the picture of Miss Twyla on top of the books... plus they posted my comment that she still needed a home. You never know! *crosses fingers*

  16. That does it! I always have a desktop picture of sheepies or knitters or such -- but that picture of Charlene & Twyla does it. I agree with Anne B; surely one teensy little Twyla wouldn't be noticeable in the household, right? (Yes yes, I hear you all - I DO know she won't stay teensy, work with me here!)

  17. If I didn't live in Boston, I would adopt little Miss Twyla in a heartbeat. She is such a sweet little munchkin.

The pictures of Charlene with her are just so wonderful. I really do believe kitties can tell when someone (human or feline) is in need of a little extra TLC. My Daphne gets extra cuddly when I'm feeling blue and need a nuggle with a little furry gray creature.

Charlene, you are a good friend. :*)

  18. If I didn't live all the way over here in Wales, I'd adopt her! I have four big boy kitties and would love to have a girl to boss them around. (I enjoyed the clip of them from the news programme you were in. The reporter looked like he was having fun too!)

  19. Seren our right - I would give little Twyla a home too and I'm in Lancashire UK... :)

    Hugs Charlene and Twyla!!

  20. Oh Twyla! You are so pretty, I'm sure someone will snatch you up soon!!!

  21. Charlene just loves to wrap her adorable paw around any kitten she can find! What a love!

  23. I had just finished reading this post and admiring the photos and thinking how both Charlene Butterbean and Twyla were such excellent cat names when I clicked over to icanhascheezburger to catch up there. And who was there to greet me but Twyla! Talk about a woo-woo moment...

  24. (((Charlene))) for being a wonderful foster mom.
(((Twyla))) to everything there is a season... and right now, it's time to soak up Charlene's love.

  25. Awww. *cuddles Charlene and Twyla both* Poor little torbiegirl. If I weren't half a country away... I've said it all before, but it's still true. That, and I'm not sure how Daisy would get along with a kitten, regal thing that she is. Twyla, I'm sure there's a wonderful forever home waiting for you; snuggle Charlene in the meantime! Purrs to you, and the Butterbean, and the elusive Drewey the spirit kitty.

  26. This extra kitty companionship provided by lovely Charlene will help Twyla when she starts her new life with her forever perfect family. Soon, dear Twyla, soon! Meanwhile extra [[[hugs]]]from all of us as well as wonderful Charlene!

  27. Wow, I've been on vacation for a week, and all this amazing news appeared while I was away! Yay for IBKs finding their forever homes! Yours is coming too, Twyla, never fear!

Daphne's Mom, if I'd known you were interested in Twyla, I would have put her on the plane this morning with my husband ~ he's in Boston for the week! Who knew?

Congrats to Laurie, Craig, Kim & Sue ~ you all provided such sweet love to Beulah and her babies. It was my pleasure to care for them in their first few hours. Thanks for taking over.

Also, I noticed something while I was away ~ kitties aren't popular pets in Alaska. One tour guide told us they're "eagle bait" if they're outside. Makes sense. Still, Alaskan's must have a real void in their lives without kitties. It's good to be home.

  28. One more thing ~ I'm on vacation for another week (spending it kayaking, shopping, sight seeing with Mom while Jim's in Bean Town) ~ and I plan to have great news about big shelter kitties finding their forever homes when I return!

    .....Stay tuned!....

  29. Have a GREAT rest of your well deserved vacation, Shana Banana! Thanks for giving the Picketts their excellent start. NOW, send your husband, with Twyla in had, to me in VA. The Dale-Harriet and I will share the joy!

  30. Oops, that's, "in HAND".

  31. i just love how Charlene "hugs" the babies - she is a fantastic adopted mommy!

  32. Shana-Banana: I don't know where you went in Alaska, but where my family lives, pet cats seem as prevalent as anywhere else in the US. In fact, the local shelter is overflowing and they just approved a bunch of money to build a bigger, better facility (yay, it was a long time coming.)

They tend to be outdoor cats, too, so we often would get neighbor cats at our doors when I was growing up. We had two of our own and they loved to bring back shrews and birds. But if you were in southeast Alaska, I can understand the eagle problem.

Needless to say, I grew up a kitty-lover and if it wouldn't make me THAT girl (you know, the single girl with too many cats) and I didn't live in California, I would snap Twyla up in an instant! I love her little parfait face.

  33. awww, can she keep her? can she? can she?

  34. I have to admit, as I've read your blog one of the few sad points has been the last kitty to leave the nest, if he or she was leaving alone. We see all these adorable pictures of the whole litter being so... sibling like with each other, and then the last one is left alone. It's nice to hear that Charlene takes care of them so they're not too lonely.

  35. Twyla's forever home can't be much longer in coming!

    Charlene, you are an angel!
