Yes, this is your new boyfriend. Be prepared to fall in love. His full name is Porter Washington Mayfield. You can call him Pork Chop if you like. Because yesterday was Presidents Day, we thought it would be nice for him to have a presidential middle name.

He's a loving little fellow with lots of purrs to give. There's something about his doughy gaze that reminds me of dear little Wendell J Hopps.

Last night Sue, Jean ( Sue's sister) and I gathered at Kim's for a kitten naming session. All the kittens have been officially named. (Whew, finally!) It wasn't easy, but we feel good about all our choices. All this week, we will introduce the rest of the Mayfield Six.

  1. Porter is such a serious little guy. Soon he'll learn that he need not worry any longer because to be an IBK is to be very blessed. Little P.W. Mayfield has worked his magic on me as has Fergus before him. Two down and four to go. Oh, the excitement of it all!

Oh gee, I just keep thinking my two self-absorbed elegant punky spoiled girls need a *tiny brother* to even things out, I really really do....but (big sigh) yep, we're too far away too. You folks are the BEST namer-of-kittens ever......Pork Chop (heheheee)

  12. Anon and Sue,,
You can call him "Mr. President",, but PLEASE don't call him "W".

  13. Awww. Hi there, Porter the presidential tabby! *scritches*

I'm getting curious about the last name-choosing part of things myself, now. How do you decide? Mayfield's perfect, in my admittedly biased opinion; it already belongs to the itty bitties, so of course I'm biased toward it!

  14. Chanter.. I don't know.. Mayfield just popped into my head somehow and it stuck. It just seemed like a very pleasant name, and when we tired it with the first names that we assigned to the kittens, it just seemed to work with all of them. It just felt right.

  16. Quoth Laurie: You can call him "Mr. President",, but PLEASE don't call him "W".

Of course not! I love kittens and would never do that, especially not to an IBKC kitten.

Though I have to say that I can't think of a single government that wouldn't be improved by replacing all the incumbents with kittens.

Napping and playtime would become national priorities in all countries and there's no way that you can call government spending on catnip, toys, and treats "waste."

  17. Hee... Fergus is the one I'd call "W"... cause he has one on his forehead instead of the "normal" M :)
