Move Over Butterbean ! Give Drewey her Fifteen Minutes!

embrace your inner crank
I've had several requests for a little more information on the elusive Drewey. So while we all wait for the arrival of a new batch of babies,, I'll devote today's post to our old girl. (You can read the story of how she came to us here.)

Drewey is well into her senior years. She spends a great portion of her day sleeping. In the winter months, she's usually in a ball, under the bed. In the summer she's stretched out on the patio, enjoying the warm cement. Drewey's a very sweet girl most of the time, but Charlene has a way of bringing out her inner crank. She just doesn't want to be bothered, and Charlene always wants her to play. Generally, they do pretty well together. On occasion there will be a little hissing and yowling, but it never gets too heated, and no one ever gets hurt. I don't expect that they will ever be too close, but I think they both understand that they must coexist so they do their best to make it work. I have to say, like a typical little sister, Charlene really knows how to push Drewey's buttons.

Today Drewey made a rare appearance on the TOP of the bed, so I grabbed the camera and got some shots. Of course Charlene had to join us. Step out of the way Charlene, it's Drewey's turn!

  2. I'm so glad to know her story and know Drewey better. She has earned her place under the bed, or wherever she wants to be. It's a little bit sad when the senior kitties begin to have that Grizabella look, the way an old fur coat looks, and their mouths...OMG! she looks kind of like me! That's OK Drewey, you and I will go for the Dove Pro Aging products while the younger set drinks mineral water and hangs out at the gym.

  3. What a SWEETIE - and I love the story of her Journey. (I'd have been SICK with worry when she ran off!) I agree with Anne B (hey, you know? I *always* agree with Anne!) - she's more than earned her curled naps wherever she wants them (and I've said it before, I'll say it again: your household, the care you give your kitties, itty bitty and big? THAT is the definition of "mitzvah")

  4. Drewy does look like she is just "tolerating" everyone else's existence..."okay, if I must sit here for your stupid pictures"...or something like that!

  6. What a ham that Butterbean is! Drewey deserves that well-earned rest. She reminds me a bit of the cat I grew up with, Kelly, who made a sport of boxing the ears of any young whippersnappers that got in the house.

  7. Awww, Drewey's lovely. She's certainly earned a retirement of napping as much as she wants wherever she wants.

And Charlene Butterbean is a pushy little camera hog, isn't she? (But always an adorable pushy little camera hog.)

  8. Aww. Hi, pretty Drewey kitty! I agree with all the other folks who've said this; she's earned the right to curl up wherever she likes. *scritches for Drewey and Charlene both*
