Big Things Come in Small Packages

She looks frail, but she's not. Our dear little Bernadette is actually quite a power house. She has no problem keeping up with her siblings, and they are literally twice her size. She's fast, she's fearless. You can see her below taking a chomp out of her brother's booty. I think it's LeRoy, but I am not positive.

She came to us at 5.5 ounces, but she's been gaining weight fast. She'll be catching up with the rest of the Mayfields very, very soon.

  1. Oh my goodness!! Bernadette, you are a tiny terror! I love it - ferocious things come in teeny, tiny, mincy little packages!

  2. The new babies are all so precious!! It was Miss Lottie, however, that made me wish we had taken the job in Seattle instead of Colorado!!

  3. Bernadette! I hear that old Motown Song in my head now. I have to sing her name now.. not just say it.

Dynamite comes in very small pacakges. Tear it up Bernadette, and show them who is boss!

  4. I wish I could take her home with me. She would make a great little sister for Tasha, my Russian Blue who has to put up with 4 bigger, meaner brothers. They all pick on her! But she would love little Bernadette. And I would nickname her "Bernie".

  5. Oh, goodness! Where is Ms. Butterbean? These babies are soooo adorable and precious, but they look like they need a good bath by a willing mommy-surrogate.

  8. She seems to have an overabundance of FEETS -! Oh my, 5.5 oz, that's smaller than a cup of tea. But you have to watch those little ones, they can sneak up behind and GETCHA! Somewhere, there's a loving household with a Bernadette-shaped hole in it waiting to be filled (not too soon, I hope; we need our pictures!)

  11. Is Bernadette from the same litter as the other Mayfields? It's really amazing how tiny she is in comparison.

    And yet... CHOMP! Go Bernie.

  15. Oh my goodness. It's a good thing you are on the opposite coast. I'd be adopting everyone! What a gorgeous gorgeous little girl!

  16. Hello Sweet Lil' Bernadette! You are so beautiful and feisty. You go wee one! Show 'em how it's done.

I have to be careful... I gave my heart to Ms. Lottie and Mr. Cornelius but you are very close to stealing it away.

Whisper kisses sweet itty bitty one.

  17. Awww! So *this* is the teeny tiny one! I've been waiting for this! *melts* And holy Toledo, 5.5 ounces? I can't even imagine that beyond palm-of-the-hand small. Wow! I'm in love already.

As it happens, a friend of mine in Australia is called Bernadette, and she's fairly little herself. Perfect - or maybe purr-fect suits, here.

  18. Am I the only one who thinks 'Old West outlaw gang' when she hears the phrase The Mayfield Six? And the first names are just making it worse - LeRoy, Bernadette (who clearly has a Calamity Jane thing goin' on)!

The headlines practically write themselves - 'Daring Daylight Train Heist Attributed To The Infamous Mayfield Six!'

You watch those kittens. Oh, they look sweet, but the second you take your eye off of them they'll be out at the saloon hustling folks at poker, or stirring up a ruckus in Dodge City. Mark my words!

  19. I want to kiss their little tummies! Are there any tummy pictures on the way???

  20. You go, little Bern! Actually, she's getting to do what I'd love to do... nom those little feets (and tummies and... and...).

I'm suffering from acute jealousy here, Laurie. Thank you, thank you, for sharing your babes!

  21. Oooh...she's soooo cute! True emphasis on the "itty bitty"!

And, yeah... someone out there is "searching for the kind of love that [she] possess[es]." But, not too soon - we need to enjoy watching her grow some!

And, uh huh... The Mayfield Six, lol.
