Deep, Deep Sadness

DSC_1690 DSC_1666 DSC_1627

With a heavy heart, I'm sorry to announce that we've lost Annabel, Rosalita, and Chip.

It all happened within a 36-hour window, and as you might imagine, our hearts have been shattered into a million bits.

I'm not in a place to tell the whole sad story right now, but they left the earth peacefully and knowing that they were loved. I need to do some processing first, and when I'm able, I'll tell the whole tale.

I know this news is shocking and sad. More than anything, I wish I didn't have to share it with you.

XOXO, Laurie

  50. Dear Laurie,

I can feel the broken from here in Australia. Such little kitties, such short lives.

But I've said it again and I'll say it now - one of the reasons we trust you is because you're honest. And sometimes, no matter what you do, just sometimes these little ones will skip away and off this world too soon. And because you tell us, we know just how much you love them, and how well you look after them.

    Poor household. Poor Laurie. *hugs*

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dear Bastet, hear our prayers
The Waddells never had the chance to truly know this world, save for those who loved them. Guide these tiny ones back to your embrace, and when their time to lives again comes, help them find the best of the world, good people with good hearts to love them.
We also plead that you help this house, human and feline alike, make their path through this time of grief as gentle as possible. Let all the love and care they have selfless given come back a thousand fold to comfort them in this time. Let all your kin who they have helped protect their dreams when asleep and show kindness when awake.
Dear Bastet, this is our prayer
May your shadow be seen in the darkness and your purr be heard in the quiet.

    ReplyDelete
  99. While we are probably all a bit curious about just what happened, if the re-telling will cause pain or suffering for you, then don't tell us. Please.

    We're sorry for your loss.

    ReplyDelete
  100. What a heartbreak. But I'm sure those little ones had the best care possible, and that they felt loved in every breath they took. Those dear ones will be missed. Tears for you and those babies.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'm so sorry. Sometimes all we can do is love them for the time we're granted with them, I guess, although I also know you and your wonderful vets did everything possible to save them. Thank you for sharing them with us, even so briefly; we all loved them too, and I know that helped them fly off to join all our wonderful kitties who have led the way to the next life for them. {{Laurie, Craig, Bean, and Wylla}}

    ReplyDelete
  102. Dear Laurie, I'm so, so sorry and I know how much you are suffering now.
Thank you for all that you did for these little special ones.
I'm glad that they were with you all at the end of their brief shinning lives.

    ReplyDelete
  106. How are you doing today? God bless!

    ReplyDelete
  107. So very sorry for their loss, and for you having to experience the intimacy of that loss. I will miss them, and I barely knew them. This must be the worst part of fostering. I am hoping when you are ready that the next time is a more typical fostering experience.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I'm so sorry. Your job is so important. Your blog gives joy to so many people and your work gives life to so many kittens. And part of that responsibility is taking on this risk and this sadness, and being there to do the last important things for these small animals, and I just want to let you know I appreciate the stuff that never makes it to the blog, and I offer sympathy for the sadness that comes in between the joys.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Oh, I am so sorry. Bless their little kitten souls and bless you for the care and love you gave to them and to all the itty bitties.

    ReplyDelete
  110. So sad, but they couldn't have had a better foster mom than you. The universe gives and takes away, and we just have to accept that what happens is what is meant to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'm so sorry to hear this. It's always hard when we lose a fur child, but when they are babies, it tears out my heart.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Love lives forever. Please be at peace.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Unfortunately, when you do the loving work that you do, there are times when you encounter unanticipated pain. You have selflessly fostered hundreds of kittens into their perfect forever families. I know you will be able to cling to those success stories in this moment. I"m crying as I write this. I cannot even imagine how you feel.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Take your time and care for yourselves first. We're here for you. -darin

  115. Shit. Oh man. Oh guys, I am so sorry you're going through this loss. Such a short time they had. I'm taking comfort knowing they felt love and joy with your family. Take all the time you need, and just know how much you are appreciated out here.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Hugs to you! Itty bitty animals have such fragile lives that usually take a turn for the worse within hours and it's nobody's fault. So please remember that the fact that your IBKC community rarely gets to read sad news is proof of the amazing job you're doing!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Sending lots of love your way. You are all in my thoughts ♥♥♥
