It's Your Lucky Day!

I know it's Friday the 13th, but it's your lucky day! Why?  You're lucky because you're about to receive a big, all-black kitten post!

In all of our years of fostering, we've had the extreme pleasure of hosting 16 all-black cats and today we're going to celebrate them.  Each was so special and though many think they all look alike, when you examine them closely you can see they are quite different.  One thing they all shared in common besides coat color: shiny personalities.

Here they are, our adorable baby bears, in no particular order!

  3. What timing . . . I just returned my first foster kittens to the Humane Society this week and one was a little black kitten who stole my heart. I'm proud of myself that I wasn't a foster failure my first go round, but man it was harder than I thought giving them back. These sweet faces remind me of that sweet little man and make me tear up a bit. There sure is something special about black kitties. Hard to believe you've only had 16 in all of your litters!

    1. We've had lots of black with white, tuxedos and smokey black, but yes, just 16 solid black.

    2. It IS surprising. Here in Austin, Texas, a rather large percentage of the rescued kittens at Austin Humane Society are black. I've always been curious about the distribution of different colorations within cat populations; it appears you have a lot more all-white kittens and long-haired kittens and fewer all-black kittens. They're ALL beautiful!

  5. All adorable. Again, I marvel over your photo filing/tagging system to be able to put these posts together. :)

  8. Such adorable little fluffers!! Eagerly awaiting your next batch of kittens now that I've found your blog.
I'm not a foster failure - just a 'hood failure. LOL. They show up in my yard and I can't leave them out in the cold. Today is Feline Friday at my blog: https://sarahdidit.blogspot.com/2017/01/feline-friday-11317.html

  10. Oh what a perfect blog post - so many beauties and cuties in one go. How could anyone resist a black cat???

  11. I love this post! I highly recommend the novelty book "All Black Cats Are Not Alike" by Amy Goldwasser and Peter Arkle. I got it for my birthday and the paintings and little stories about 50 ABCs (as they are called in the book) are delightful. I am the proud servant of two ABCs myself and look forward to coming home to their weird, alien, loving personalities every day.

  12. So far, I have been chosen as servant by an orange tabby, a solid gray, a tuxie, a gray tabby, and a tortie. Maybe one day a black cat will decide to adopt me. I'd relish the black kitty hairs added to all my outfits!

    Thanks for the picture gallery!

  13. Perfect! Love them all, black kitties in general and our own little black panther in particular. Thanks for praising black kitties, they need all the love with silly superstitions still around.

  14. Love it!! For posts like this, I always try to avoid looking at the name to see if I can guess the kitten first... and some (much?) of the time, I can! Or at the very least when I see the name, I say "Oh, of course that's who it is!" :) Each and every one - so special.
