A Padded Cell For These Crazy Kittens

DSC_0501

These four crazies have been playing so hard and climbing so high, I had to make some modifications to their quarters.  Normally I line the bottom of the kitten cage with a large bath towel, but I was afraid someone was going to get hurt while rough housing, so  I went out and bought a thick, cushy bathmat to offer a little padding on the cage floor.

From the start they've had a strong desire to go vertical, so I attached a couple of baskets to the cage sides so they had a coupe of "balconies" to climb up to. So far, they've been a huge hit, and most hours of the day you'll find a kitten or two hanging out in them.  Or dangling from them.  Or getting pushed out of them. Or diving from them. They've incorporated the balconies into nearly all their kitten games.

And here's a little video showing the four crazies enjoying their cage improvements.

On the fundraising front, I was so happy to see us roll past the $30,000 mark this weekend. I feel like we're at a good pace, but we do need to maintain it to reach that big $125,000 goal.

To help us stay on course, our Awesome Anonymous Donor has offered up a HUGE $3000 match for us today.  Until 7:00 PM tonight, every single dollar donated will be matched until we hit the cap.  So, if you donate soon, your  donation will go twice as far!

To make a tax-deductible donation, please visit our FUNdraising page by clicking HERE.Thank you Awesome Anonymous Donor for being so awesome! And thank you in advance to all who help meet her match!

Whatever amount you feel comfortable giving is fine - you know that very bit helps. And if you're not in a position to give, THAT''S FINE, too!  It always breaks my heart when I see folks comment "I wish I could give" or "I wish I could give more".  Whether you donate or not, you're still a valuable part of this community. You're supporting our cause by being here, commenting, and spreading the word.  Thank you for that!

In case you weren't around here this weekend, I introduced the last of this litter. If you missed these posts, please scroll back and say hello to the cuties.  There's a not-to-be-missed video, too!

I'm setting up the first of the naming rights auctions this morning, and as soon as they go "live" I will let you know!  Can't wait to see who the winners are the what name the choose!

I'll be back soon!  See you then!

  2. Are all kitties this wild? I don't remember my boys being this active, but it was 13 years ago, so maybe I just don't remember.

    1. I think all kittens get this crazy once in a while - this crew just never seems to stop.

    2. We just brought home an 8 week old kitten two weeks ago. I can testify that they are most definitely this crazy! Our 3yo guy often gives us the "really" look when his new little brother bugs him. I know he loves having the playmate and cuddle buddy...even though he is crazy! ha!

  5. I can't wait until they're on the fundraising set; they just may outdo the Suprenant sisters in "re-arranging" it.

  6. I hope that someone picks the name Edmund for a boy or Hillary for a girl - the name of the famous climber.

    1. I love that suggestion! I came here to respectfully suggest the last name Wallenda, like The Flying Wallendas, for this group of circus monkeys.

    2. I agree! The last name should be Wallenda!

  8. I hope they get their names soon! I think the dark gray tabby should be named Matilda, the silver tabby should be Evelyn, the black and white should be called Panda, and the Tortoiseshell tabby one should be called Lily.

    1. I think the house will survive, but I'm not sure about the fundraising set! These girls are like the Suprenant sisters crossed will "all-over" Oliver!

  11. The black and white kitty reminds me of one of my own kitties! Such a cutie.

This is an adorable litter (of course, all of the litters have been/will be adorable). Can't wait to find out their names!
