Wyllabath™

This is the fourth kitten litter Wylla has got to meet. With the first three, her role was just as playmate, but things have shifted, and now she's taking on a more nurturing role.

I don't know if it's because she's matured,  or if it's something she learned watching Bean, but in the past couple of weeks she's started bathing the babies. First, she would just try to lick their faces to get all of the scraps from breakfast, but it's advance to  pin-em-down and clean them end-to-end baths, just like Bean likes to give.

It's pretty sweet to watch. The kittens are always a little apprehensive at first, but they always enjoy it eventually.

One of our dear Clovers has left the nest, and the remaining two will depart tomorrow morning. We will miss them, of course, but we're quite excited for these dear kittens. Their futures are so bright!  On Monday I'll tell you more about the lucky families who are adopting them.

I've got some more to share with you today, so please stay tuned. I'll post again this afternoon.

  1. Good job, Wylla! I think you definitely learned that from Charlene. So now we can refer to you as Junior Headmistress at Charlene's Kitten Finishing School! :-)

  2. With Wylla and Bean both on the job, these must be the cleanest kittens ever!

  3. Does Wylla ever try to groom Bean? Just curious...

Also, she looks a little possessed in that first picture. Hilarious!

    1. Not usually. She will give her a sniff, but rarely a lick.

  4. It's been wonderful to watch Wylla grow up, grow big and become such a wonderful cat. Congratulations and thanks to the IBKC! Wylla's adoring fans couldn't be happier for her and you.

  6. Given her health history, is Wylla more prone to hairballs?

    1. We've always brushed her frequently to minimize her hair intake, but she does cough up one on occasion.

  7. Oh, Wylla! If only I could have you go to town between my toes and on my belly button. I'd be so clean, no one could stand me. They'd all be jealous.

  11. Charlene: "Wylla, I think you're ready to take on one of the biggest jobs here at the Finishing School, bathing of kittens."
Wylla: "Really? Are you sure? I mean, it wasn't too long ago that you were bathing me. But if you think I'm up for the job, I'll make sure to make you proud of me."
Charlene: "I'm always proud of you, Wylla."
Good job, Wylla, on now being the official second in command at the Charlene Butterbean Finishing School for Kittens!

  13. Those cute little stubby whiskers gone so soon. ;( Did you ask if her new family will send us pictures once they've all grown back? By the way, did Charlene have access to the kittens when the whiskers disappeared? (I can't remember when the kittens were sprung.) When I was child, our vet told me that sometimes Siamese mother cats will chew the whiskers off their favorite kitten. Not casting doubts on the beautious Charlene, of course, just sayin'.....

    1. It happened while the kittens were tucked away in their kennel. Charlene didn't have access to them then.
