Kitty Cankles

Wylla had a vet appointment on Friday and when we dropped her on the scale, she weighed a whopping 8.37 pounds. At her last weigh-in eight weeks ago, she was 7.8 pounds. Doc noted that she was starting to get a little bit of a belly!  Of course, we don't want to have TOO much of a belly.  She's at a great weight right now and we would be very happy if she maintained it.

Doc also commented on how dense and lovely Wylla's coat has become. Now that she's able to process everything so well, she's getting all those nutrients she needs, and it's really starting to show in her coat. It's so incredibly full and soft now and I never thought I would say this, but it's even floofier than Charlene's! And Charlene is VERY hairy!

Wylla sat on the counter while I paid the bill and scheduled her next visit. We all got a good laugh when we noticed that she now has "cankles".  I looked back at some older photos and it this is a fairly recent development. Her little legs used to taper more.

So you can all see her progress, here are a few photos:
From top to bottom and left to right, here she is at four weeks, one year, two years, and almost two and a half years (today).

  5. Wow! Just shows what your loving care can do for kitties. She should be the poster child for how to live with (and/or defeat) mega-esophagus!

  8. I'm right there with ya, Wylla. As we mature, we tend to get a little floofier and develop cankles. You're my kinda gal!

  10. Some of the nicest cats (and people) I know have cankles. :) Wylla may not be wee anymore, but she's still gloriously woolly!

  11. Her "bib" looks like it's a bit whiter too. She just gets prettier with each year. She's proof of what a good home can do for a kitty (and vise versa).

  13. Wylla's first kitten picture was by FAR the cutest, most sqee-worthy kitten pic I have ever seen! She is looking wonderful now, which is a real tribute to you, Laurie. She weighs more than Skootch! Concatulations!

  14. She's a real lady cat now! It's fantastic to see how much she has grown and changed over these past 2.5 years. Her coat is just amazing and seems to most resemble her baby pic and it's amazing floofness now. Even her ear floof appears to have grown more luscious!

  19. I can't help but grin at the change in her expression from tiny kitten ("MY STARS! WHAT IS THAT?") to grown kitty ("Oh, hey, another picture thingy"). Lovely Wylla.

    Love from Harry's Mom xo
