Breakfast with an Audience

Every single meal Charlene has, she is shadowed by Wylla. It's been going on since Wylla's early days, and Charlene's gotten pretty good at ignoring her looming sister

Once Bean is done eating, Wylla always takes her place at the bowl as if it's her turn next. She used to try to dive right in and grab some morsels,  but she has learned some self-control, knows it's not hers, and will just sit by bowl.  We reward her good behavior with a couple of bites, which makes her quite happy.

It's funny to watch her sit - you can almost see her little brain churning.

I wan't that. I'm not supposed to take it. But I wan't it. Oh that smells delicious. But it's Charlene's.

  3. Such good manners! I know adult humans who don't have that much restraint!

  4. "I always feel like, somebody's watching me!" Great! Now I won't get that song out of my head! :-) (Rockwell, circa 1992)

  5. They are both such patient girls. You definitely can see the wheels churning in Wylla's brain, wondering what might happen if she actually sticks her face into the bowl.

  6. Love the little paw pat next to the bowl. Like maybe magically a piece will have escaped...

  7. oh my- I've always felt so empathetic about that. She used to have moments where she just had to be hungry but couldn't get all that food down. And to be so restrained when there is food right in front of her! I am so glad she is getting better and better. What a relief!

  11. I like at 0:24 and 0:45 when Wylla sits down and wraps her tail precisely around herself! And the gentle paw-touch next to the bowl ... and then at the very end Wylla noms a couple of Charlene's pieces of food! Beautiful Charlene and Wylla! xo xo

  12. patpatpat Hey, um, bowl? Could you maybe spit a few pieces over here for me? I'm only allowed to eat the ones that escape.

  14. That is absolutely adorable. It's hard not to laugh at Wylla's lurking and Longing Looks of Longing at the bowl. Her restraint and self-control definitely deserve a reward. The paw touch in the second clip was priceless. Thank you for sharing this glimpse into daily life at Chez IBKC.

  15. To quote a long-ago IBKC post: Canihaveabite?

Can't remember which troop it was, but some of them were wanting to share Craig's lentil soup. I've ascribed that line to my cats when they stare me down, wanting to share a bite of my breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack. :)
