Kittens are Good Medicine

It's been interesting to watch Wylla's relationship with the kittens develop over these past few weeks.  It really has blossomed, and now they spend nearly all of their waking, and many of their napping moments together. If they're tucked away in the guest room, she'll cry to be let in.

If she's not feeling well enough to be right in the middle of a romp or a wrestling match with them, she'll watch the antics from a perch.

I think they've been a great distraction for her on those days she's not feeling her best.  Also,  I think the extra exercise she gets while playing with them is helping too.  Since their arrival, the number of "bad days" for Wylla has decreased.

Kittens are good medicine!

  2. Kittens are good medicine indeed! I know I always feel better after playing with kittens or even after just looking at pictures of kittens. I am happy to hear that this is working out so well for all involved.

She looks great! She is only 2 pounds away from weighing what Zoubisou weighs. I am so happy for all of you!

    1. I too was sorry to hear that Wylla is still having bad days but know that you three grown-ups are doing all you can for her -- and I'm glad the kittens are a joy and solace.

  6. How wonderful to hear. Great medicine for all! Great for the babies, great for Beanie, great for wee Wylla and a relief for foster mama and papa Laurie and Craig! I love it!

  7. Awww Wee Wylla, you are an awesome deputy kitten wrangler, even on your not-so-good days! I just know the babies miss you also whenever you are not around them. It is absolutely true that kitties are good medicine, which is why I try to visit the IBKC every day :)

  10. I wonder if the kittens will start taking vertical naps like Wylla :-) That would be insanely cute! So glad to hear that Wylla is enjoying her new role as kitten play/nap mate! I wonder if Charlene is enjoying the break?

  11. How lovely! I'm not surprised, though -- I think kittens (and all baby animals) are good for everybody. It's great to hear that the babies help Wylla feel better. And she's within 1/2 pound of what my Emily weighs, so I have a good idea of how wee she is -- and Emily is 19 and going strong, so being little clearly doesn't hurt kitties!

  12. I tend to forget that Wylla still has bad days, but I am glad that she enjoys the kittens and that they help her to feel better! And I know that it must be a relief to you, Laurie, that the fosters are fun and not stressful for Wylla!

  15. Aww! I can confirm the benefits of kitten therapy! There is nothing that kittens can't cure, as far as I am concerned!

    1. We do all we can to manage it, but most likely there will always be occasional bad days. She is better, she's just not cured, because there are no treatments for her.

  17. Oh I just love these kitties. I too felt sad to hear Wylla still has some bad days. She's been looking so good I forgot all about that. What a sweetheart she is along with Bean and the babies!

  19. I am laughing cause you reminided me of my Sheppard he started to limp and the doc said it was an arthiritic toe, then I adopted 4 cats and they caught his interest so much that for a couple of years he forgot that he had any pain. Even in animals laughter is the best medicine.
