The Big House

The little girls got a little bigger this week, so I was able to move them from their studio apartment to a larger unit.

We still need to keep them contained, but they needed a little more room to romp and play,  so it was time to upgrade.   Their new cage is three times as large as their old quarters, so there's ample room for their bedroom, bathroom, and recreation area.  I added a cardboard box, which they love(d).

Then,  Hazel peed in the cardboard box.

And I replaced the box.

Then, Effie pooped in the box.

And I removed the box.

Once they've master the litter box,  we'll revisit the cardboard box.

  3. They look like they feel guilty about the cardboard box.

  4. They wanted PRIVACY for doing their business; I have had cats who much prefered a Litter Box with a lid, cover, or doorway so that all the world does not see what is happening. Then there was Silver who would scrape the pine needles aside under the tree in front of our front door and poop in full view of the whole world!!

    1. I firmly believe that cats differ in personality as much as we humans do. It's perfectly possible - mine prefer privacy, that's for sure!

    2. I don't think they're thinking about privacy at this stage of the game. They're just confused by the new living arrangements.

    3. In their itty bitty and new minds - a box is a box is a box.

Just like in our minds an itty bitty is so cute, so cute and so sweet

    1. I've been getting up to feed the kittens before Charlene wakes us, so there's no need for her to use such tricks.

  7. Could it be that they're indicating a preference?

So adorbs. Wonder if Effie might turn out a bit on the floofy side.

  8. A girl has to do what a girl has to do! Cardboard boxes can many, many things!

  9. They just keep getting cuter! I'm so curious to see what Hazel's grown up coloring turns out to be, whether she'll be a gray tabby or a dilute tortie or something else entirely...

    1. I know! Hazel is looking a little stripey in a few pictures but it could just be the lighting...

  11. I don't think there is anything cuter than teeny kitten wrestling. They are still so clumsy, and yet to eager to pounce on each other -- and those kitten tails just slay me!

    1. There is something cuter. Kittens that size and younger hissing at you. Now /that/ is absolutely adorbs and so ridiculous.

  12. So I totally had the theme from 'The Jefferson' running through my head when I was looking at those photos. They are movin' on up!

  14. Yep, the box, the pee and the poop. I've been there and done that with wee kittens myself. Girls are totally adorbs
